Warriors: Cats of the Clans (Warriors: Field Guide, #2) Reviews

This book was epic! I loved how the ancient cat Rock was telling the kits, Mosskit, Blossumkit, and Adderkit, about the cats in Starclan, or where the cat's good ancestors go when they die. The pictures were beautiful! Who wants to see them? Ok, here they are in order.
THUNDERCLAN

Lots of small inconsistencies with other field guides and especially the main series, but otherwise a nice, quick read with beautiful illustrations.
Page 36: Blackstar
-Mentions that Blackstar was deputy to Nightstar. He was first deputy to Brokentail, and then became a rogue, only to return to be Tigerstar's deputy, before becoming leader. He was never Nightstar's deputy.
Page 42: Littlecloud and Runningnose
-Mentions that Littlecloud was an apprentice when Cinderpelt helped cure him and Whitethroat of disease, when they had both already earned warrior names.
Page 68: Feathertail
-Mentions Stonefur was her mentor, while it was actually Mistyfoot. Stonefur mentored her brother, Stormfur. -
God, I love the Warriors series.
If you haven't read the whole series (like, the entire Warriors arc, not just the first six books), then maybe skip this book as there are a few spoilers.
Before Cats of the Clans, my last Warriors book was read two years ago. Two freaking years ago!
But I'm planning on re-reading the entire series, so I figure this would be a great refresher.
And it was a great refresher. I felt a great sense of nostalgia while reading this. I was reunited with all my favorite characters, like Firestar and Graystripe and Bluestar and Yellowfang. Also some of the newer characters, like Brambleclaw and Leafpool and Jaypaw.
No one in the Omen of Stars sub-series is in here (like Dovewing or Ivypool), but I'm pretty sure there's a newer Warriors encyclopedia that has them in it.
I am so grateful for the illustrations. I have a hard time picturing animals so this was extremely helpful. Now I know what the main characters look like.
Overall, Cats of the Clans is a great read for Warriors fanboys and fangirls.
I wouldn't recommend it for people new to the series, as there are some spoilers. If you want to start the Warriors series, here is the complete list of the MAIN books (and it's a LOOOONG list so feel free to only read the first six books. Also, I did not include the Dawn of the Clans books or the Super Edition novels because they can be read independent of the main Warriors Arc)
Warriors: Into the Wild
Warriors: Fire and Ice
Warriors: Forest of Secrets
Warriors: Rising Storm
Warriors: A Dangerous Path
Warriors: The Darkest Hour
Warriors New Prophecy: Midnight
Warriors New Prophecy: Moonrise
Warriors New Prophecy: Dawn
Warriors New Prophecy: Starlight
Warriors New Prophecy: Twilight
Warriors New Prophecy: Sunset
Warriors Power of Three: The Sight
Warriors Power of Three: Dark River
Warriors Power of Three: Outcast
Warriors Power of Three: Eclipse
Warriors Power of Three: Long Shadows
Warriors Power of Three: Sunrise
Warriors Omen of the Stars: The Fourth Apprentice
Warriors Omen of the Stars: Fading Echoes
Warriors Omen of the Stars: Night Whispers
Warriors Omen of the Stars: Sign of the Moon
Warriors Omen of the Stars: The Forgotten Warrior
Warriors Omen of the Stars: The Last Hope -
This book is significant!!!Cats of the Clans is by Erin Hunter and is about a cat telling little kittens about different cats that are in the Warrior World which they will be entering. The cats are grouped by different clans based on their specialty. There is the Thunder Clan, the Shadow Clan,River Clan, and the Wind Clan. When they die, they enter the Star Clan, become spirits,be honored/remembered and watch over the Warrior World. Some examples of cats are Firestar, the leader of Thunder Clan,Tigerstar, the leader of Shadow Clan,Tallstar,Onestar,Rushpaw,
Mistyfoot,Silverstream,Brambleclaw,Ashfur,Feathertail,Scourge,Bone, and Crookedstar.I recommend this book to people who like cats and pass this book on for many generations. -
Characters - 5/5 - Well, as the whole book is based around characters with such detail and depth, how can I not love them? Seriously, I've always loved the cats and this book really highlighted for me how incredible they are. There's definitely a lot of depth and stories into each one!
Content - 5/5 - Excellent; a really thought-out field guide that I enjoyed reading. I thought the information given was informative, but concise and compact at the same time - nothing dragged on or felt like too much.
Writing - 4.5/5 - Very interesting and different style to usual due to the different perspective, though I do probably prefer the writing in the series books. I just find in those there's a bit more description, including great adjectives. Though I loved the writing style nevertheless!!
Drawing - 5/5 - Superb! I mean, the artist is just phenomenal! The pictures we see are of such a great quality and really show great interpretation by the artist. I loved looking at them; it definitely helps you picture the cats clearer when there's so many to keep track of!
Enjoyment - 4.5/5 - A lovely read and again, like with the writing, I prefer the series books, though this is a very good compliment to those nevertheless. I think the pictures really add to it, too!
Overall - 4.8/5 - A definite recommendation to any Warriors fan!! -
This book was pretty good. I learned a lot, so I am ready to read the Warrior Cats series. I hope that this series will interest me a lot!
The whole book is about the cats in the clans in the series Warriors. It has prepared me greatly, so I know about all of the characters.
I recommend this book for people who are about to start reading the series, because it will prepare you for the characters and their personalities. -
This book was quite interesting. I liked how there were nice big pictures of the cats that were being described (except for Cloudtail and Brook, who were not pictured when they were being talked about.) I learned a few things about the cats that I had either previously not known, or had forgotten. One example was that Barley used to be a part of BloodClan.

4 stars- Dutch paperback- English hardcover
We bought this book to add to our collection of Warriors books. The addic-club loves them.
The book Is filled with full colored pics of the Cats of the Clans. We were a tiny bit disappointed that the pictures of many of the Warriors were duplicates of the pictures from Warriors: The Ultimate Guide. There were, however, a few new pictures of cats not featured in the Ultimate Guide included in this book. If you love Warriors, you’ll love this book! It brings the world of the worrior cats so mutch more alive! Love it. Love it. -
very informative

I like this book because it has a very weird picture of a very very very very very cool cat named Brightheart. She also had a eye swollen out from where it was supposed to be. It was very scary when I first saw it, but then it wasn’t. I like this book very much because it was about a cat and that cat is the cat I like and the cat that I just got to tell you about.
So now comes a story about that cat. You know, her mother was named Frostfur. This is how Brightheart lost her eye. She wanted to be a warrior so she went out and she fought a pack of dogs and then she lost her eye. -
Having read the novels it was really fun to see pictures of the cats—and the pictures were beautifully illustrated! I was bummed that there was no picture of Cloudtail, though. I wasn’t as wild about the written bits—it was done cleverly enough but having read the books I didn’t really need them. It was just review of what I’d already read. I would have liked more illustrations and maybe a few family trees!

All 6 clans of the cats wanted to live peacefully in the forest without getting into war against one another. But these clans are always fighting for new additions to their clans. So one day a clan tried to sneak into another clans territory to steal their new cats, which ended up in a fight. Will these cats ever stop fighting? Warriors Battles of the Clans is about Bravery, Hardworking and Intelligence.

Just like the first guidebook before it, this was very good. This one focuses on all the important cats in the books. It reveals more details about them that weren’t talked about in the books, but there are also lots of spoilers if you haven’t read all the Warriors books first. The artwork throughout the book is also very nice.

I can't say that this story offers anything new, especially after reading Secrets of the Clans. Many of the characters overlap.
Each summary is only two pages at most. Despite the short word count they still manage to focus on the wrong characters; I was dishearted to see that Lightheart's paragraphs were about Cloudtail instead.
The full color art however is definitely worth looking it. -
Do not read unless you've read the whole series! it spoiled EVERYTHING!
-
It was amazing!!
-
This book is really good if you love backstories. It tells the backstories of all the cats that are important to the series! Even ones that aren't even cats, like Midnight and..... Rock? I guess.
-
The Warriors field guides are short, but I really like them. I like how they provide an inside look on the Clans (/Battles, etc), and the pictures!! <3 <3
-
A pretty good guide for people who are wishing to find more about the series.

It’s good
