The Escape (Khronos Chronicles, #2) Reviews

It’s rewarding when an author’s second novel lives up to the promise of the first, both for reader and author alike! Such is the case with The Escape, part two of the Khronos Chronicles, by Rob Wolf. Unlike the first novel (The Alternate Universe) with its blend of futuristic and anachronistic (robots and horses), much of The Escape is set in the past. Wolf does an excellent job of making the past seem very real, and his protagonists’ reactions to it very heartfelt. The MCs Claude and Carolien save Claude’s father and defeat the villains (not a spoiler, this is a fantasy), while finding their own personal truths along the way. Despite leaving the possibility of another novel (yes, please!), The Escape neatly ties up the loose ends, of which there are many in a time-travel novel. Besides, how often does a fantasy novel let me use my college German? Highly recommended.

The sequel to Rob Wolf's Alternate Universe picks up right where we left off and provides an exciting and satisfying end to the story. I became invested in these characters through the first book and very much enjoyed the ride they took in the second. The book never failed to surprise in terms of twists and new experiences in this alternate universe. Rob Wolf has a real talent for story telling and bringing his characters adventures together in a way that kept me on the edge of my seat. Great read!
