Essential Official Handbook of the Marvel UniverseMaster Edition, Vol. 1 Reviews

2.5 stars. These are pretty good reference books for Marvel character backgrounds and histories. Could be done better but they are certainly superior to the version put out by DC.

  • Timothy Boyd

All you could ever want to know about EVER major, and most minor, marvel characters. You find out all about their friends, family, powers, secrets and origins. Very good art throughout. Very recommended.

DO YOU REMEMBER HAVING TO LOOK THINGS UP IN AN (offline, paper) ENCYCLOPEDIA?
This is not a story or narrative but a reference series from the early 90's about all the main heroes and villains (and some odd balls, STILT MAN) of the marvel universe.
For example, if you want to read about Doc Ock online, you could be reading for a LONG time. Or you can find him here, in glorious black and white, and read about him in all his salad-bowl-haircut greatness as of 1990.

  • James Bowman

Detailed, with all sorts of useful data... but dull to read.
