Published in 2011 by DC Comics.

This is a collection of 13 comics compiled into a single book that tells about the mystery of a serial murderer called Holiday. Holiday always strikes on a major holiday and is particularly fond of killing figures in Gotham City's network of crime families.

Batman, Gordon and Harvey Dent decide to work together to solve the mystery but this triumvirate of crime-solvers has its own internal troubles as both Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent become suspects.

Calendar Man is an immediate suspect since this sounds like his kind of crime spree. But, he is locked up in Arkham Asylum. But, lots of other super-criminals are sprung free and pretty soon Gotham is awash in their machinations on top of a serial killer. Plus, Catwoman is also on the prowl...

This was a great mystery - I thought I had it figured out and then I found out that I was entirely wrong - twice! Powerful story and Batman nearly gets taken out. Loeb and Sale are a powerful team.

I rate this graphic novel 5 stars out of 5.

A great start to the Long Halloween series. The artwork here is of a completely different era to what we have these days, and the use of colours is vivid, the pencil work effective and overall you get a real Noir vibe.
The story sets the scene for Batman vs the Mob, prior to everything kicking off with the rise of the costumed villains. Catwoman is at her sassy best here, and a young Harvey Dent is starting to rattle those Mafia cages.

    Here we go!

Such a great start! This first issue mainly focused on Gotham's Mafias, Falcone and Maroni. Unfortunately, it is only available for one issue in DCFandome. Well, I guess I will watch the animation then

    Every action has a reaction

  • Ramón Nogueras Pérez

Una de las más interesantes y complejas historias de Batman empieza aquí. Con un Harvey Dent todavía cuerdo, pero muchos de los personajes del reparto ya en su lugar. Pura novela negra.

    "I believe in Gotham."
    "I believe in Batman."

This is a must-read for any dedicated Batman fan, or someone who wants to start reading the comics. It has everything - Batman's most notable villains and allies, murder and intrigue, and of course, a huge plot twist at the end into the true identity of Holiday.

This is Batman at his best. You'll want to read it more than once just to experience it all over again.

Thank you, Jeph Loeb, for your excellent story crafting and true understanding of Batman's character. (The current Batman films/Zack Snyder should really take note.)

Read it and thank me later!

This seems like a n ice intro into a good long story. I enjoyed the use of the mob in this one.

  • Omar Zambrano

Conociendo los orígenes de caballero de la noche

  • Andres Farias Riquelme

En los orígenes de Batman, este comic inicia una historia que es difícil entender hacia donde se dirige.

me at the end: what the fuck!?

i'm not a fan of the way most of the characters are drawn as it's just not my style, but some of the panels are absolutely amazing in how they portray a mood or emphasise a specific plot note.

selina/catwoman seems amazing. and i like seeing harvey dent before he becomes two-face...

Combinación perfecta de misterio, por la noche de Halloween, y persecuciones a aquellos que dañan la imagen de Gotham. Pero lo grandioso de este tomo no solo es el argumento en sí, si no la manera en que giran los acontecimientos justo al final de éste.

  • Jeremy Whetzel

Classic Batman tale, you can see the amount of influence it's had on the Batman Cinematic Universe. From Nolan's trilogy to the ongoing "Gotham" TV series, THE LONG HALLOWEEN digs deep into their core origins.

  • Anna

Gorgeous, experimental art style. Film noir type plot. Relationships portrayed and built and torn apart by Gotham. It all comes together and yet is left ambiguous- everything you could want from a batman story.

  • Pato Myers

So far I'm really enjoying this series. It's more like the cartoon batman I grew up with, it's more about a case and a balance of angst and seeking justice, and Gothic style.

  • Patrick

    An A-OK start.

  • Patricia

You did that hungry!! I loved it, every twist and turn caught me by surprise!! I can’t wait to read more of your books....

Good start to a 13 part action and detective comic book

  • William Douglas

  • Dennis Brock

Never had a chance to read this famous story...I thought the first issue was incredible. 4/5

  • Henry Hirschmann

The greatest Batman detective story out there. Started and finished it in one sitting. Absolutely great
