The Classic Graphic Novel Collection is a revolutionary new series of graphic novels which re-tells classic literature for learners of English. Graded at the intermediate level, the fresh blend of accessible storytelling and captivating artwork ensures that students will want to return to these stories time and again. The fair city of Verona is troubled by two feuding families: the Montagues and the Capulets. Their hatred for each other runs deep and they regularly disturb the streets with their fighting. When Romeo Montague meets and falls instantly in love with Juliet Capulet, it can only lead to a tragic end. William Shakespeare's wonderful and iconic play is as relevant today as it was when it was written - over 400 years ago! It is one of his best-known works, containing some of his most famous lines. Detailed illustrations and lively content capture all of the beauty, emotion, and tragedy of Shakespeare's timeless tale.

Romeo and Juliet: Classic Graphic Novel Collection Reviews

    ✨✨✨

Recommended for teachers who want to discuss this story in class but are dealing with pupils who are reluctant readers or have difficulties with reading. This format is likely to be more motivating because of the imagery and accessible language.

BUT JESUS Romeo is a total creep (hiding in the bushes) and both him and Juliet are so naive. This instalove thing is just ridiculous. Who gets married after one day? Especially when Romeo was 'heartbroken' about Rosaline hours before he met Juliet. Plus Juliet could be regarded quite promiscuous for kissing Romeo on the first evening (for a story being written in the 16th C). Quel scandale! ;) Furthermore... Romeo's friends are unbearably childish and that nurse needs to calm down.

The Quick Text version isn’t very satisfying, and it also makes some of the panels look too big with open empty spaces over the characters’ heads. I picked it up at a library sale and didn’t realize the format. Oh well

"Love is a puzzle, I just can't understand it"

A true love always finds a way.

I really enjoyed this retelling of Romeo and Juliet in graphic novel form. I think they did a good job on this graphic novel. Reading it as an adult makes the story even harder to believe since they really only knew each other for such a short period of time.
