Dick Whittington and His Cat (Well Loved Tales) Reviews

  • Maxine

I was waiting for his cat to put on a pair on boots - guess that's another story ha ha :)

  • J.P. Ashman

Read this to Poppet tonight. Or tried to. Got two thirds the way through and she leant forward and closed the book. Oh well. I was really enjoying it.

  • Dane Cobain

I think the coolest thing that I took away from this is that there was a real person called Dick Whittington who was Mayor of London. Cool!

  • Marts (Thinker)

One of those English folk tales I remember reading as a child, together with all those other Ladybird books. Great to see them listed here on Goodreads!

  • Saashya Rodrigo

This takes me back to my childhood. I had almost the entire book memorized, word for word! I'm not sure I ever really understood the story, but I certainly had it memorized!

  • Clare O'Beara

I read this when we were small, the little hardback was enjoyable and well illustrated. This one was seen as a tale for boys, while girls were given stories about princesses and sleeping beauties. In general boys were clearly expected to go out and have adventures. Girls were not, or they met savage beasts in the forest. This one contained art showing medieval London.
I think it's important to tell the old fairytales to children as otherwise they won't know the stories in today's jumble of other entertainments and games.
    This is an unbiased review.

Memang sekecil apapun harta kita miliki di mata sendiri, bisa jadi hal tak terduga di mata orang lain. Jadi kangen kucingggku si Tupai.

  • Cyndy

This was my favorite Ladybird book when I was little.

  • Jenks

    Excellent childhood classic

  • Jess

Good retelling of the story. Great for children

  • Lori Adell

I recently found out my ancestors are Whittingtons. And I love cats.

  • Charmaine

I must have read this book when I was 11 or so, and never knew I would grow up to marry a guy with same surname. Always thought that was so hilarious!
