Tear: A Seaside Novel
Life as a teenager is never easy. But for Natalee Murray, things have just gotten way more difficult. Bored with life, she can't wait to graduate high school and get out of town, especially considering the famous band members from AD2 suddenly start attending her school, making her once boring life, absolutely insane.
It starts with a pen. A single brush of fingers, and she is captivated.
But Alec and Demetri have a dark secret, one that could shatter their reputations and Natalee's heart. What do you do when one guy paints your life with color while the other infuses your soul with passion? How do you choose when your heart is divided?
Pull: A Seaside Novel
Jaded rock star, Demetri Daniels, is in Hell — also known as Seaside, Oregon. Sent to rehab after nearly getting himself killed last year, his record company wants nothing more than for him to lay low, away from the limelight.
Irritated and more alone than he’s ever been in his life, Demetri tries desperately to rebuild his shattered reputation as a drug addict and player, which proves to be difficult when he meets Alyssa.
Alyssa is everything he should stay away from. She’s beautiful, smart, but above all else, she’s damaged. And one thing Demetri has learned is two broken hearts don’t equal a whole.
In the end, he has to decide if he can rise above the life he’s created in learning from his past mistakes, or fall into the darkness of his choices.
Shatter: A Seaside Novel
Sometimes the only way to heal... is to shatter.
Rock star Alec Daniels has it all. Love, fame, money... But being in the limelight isn't all it’s cracked up to be, and after one bad choice comes back to haunt him he is left picking up the pieces of his carefully constructed life. Now he faces the toughest decision of his life:
Deal with his mistake like a man, or dive back into the dark hole of depression, drugs, and denial that have been his comfort for so long.
One wrong move could destroy everything. His girlfriend, his family, and his future.
Forever: A Seaside Novella
Men fall hard. Rock stars? Fall the hardest.
This is the conclusion to Alec and Nat's story.
The Seaside Series: Boxed Set (Seaside, #1-3.5) Reviews

This series had me so wrapped up and anxious, I couldn't stop reading it! Natalie, Alec, and Demetri make up the first portion of the series, then enter Alyssa. And toward the end, Jaymeson. And darn it...we have to wait for the next book that features Jaymeson! A great series with serious parts...but there are lots of funny moments, too.

**Warning: there are no spoilers for the first book, Tear, but there will be spoilers for the books after. Read at your own risk if you haven’t read the Seaside series**
I freaking love this whole series. I'm going to do a paragraph review for each book. You can read Pull (Book #2) as a standalone, but I HIGHLY recommend reading the whole series in order. It makes more sense, and plus who wouldn't want to read more Rachel Van Dyken. I fell in love with every character in this series. Every. Single. One. Nat, Alec, Demitri, Alyssa, and even Jaymeson. They were so real and relatable. The writing flowed well and made me feel. RVD’s books are always intense (Ruin anyone?), but she continues to shock me with every book she writes.
"How did this happen in the real world? I always laughed at people who said they liked more than one guy at the same time. Well, what about love? Nobody could tell me what I was feeling wasn’t real. If anything, it was too real, too much, and so fast. I felt like I was drowning.”
Tear is the first book in the series and it’s told from Nat’s POV. She lives in a small town in Oregon called Seaside. She thinks she’s ordinary, but her world it turned upside down when Alec and Demetri, the two brothers that make up the infamous AD2, suddenly move to Oregon and start attending her school. They are both drawn to her. They both have dark pasts, and they find themselves being saved by Nat. No one does love triangles like RVD. I swear I was Team Alec. For the most part. Both guys are very well-written and appealing, so I found myself super confused and going back and forth between Alec and Demetri. They were too irresistible with their messed up pasts and secrets. Alec had the tall, mysterious, and brooding thing down pat *swoon*, while Demetri was cocky, playful, and fun. They were super protective of Nat, and did I mention they were rock star brothers (who wrote songs for her)? It was a tough choice for me, err, I mean Nat, but in the end there’s really no contest between being in love with someone and loving someone. It was an emotional rollercoaster, and a great way to start the series off with a bang. I swooned and fell in love so hard. For both boys. And Nat was just so sweet and real. (If you do not want to know who she ends up with, stop here.)
“I finally understand what love is. It isn’t rainbows and butterflies. It isn’t always pretty. Sometimes it’s jagged like broken glass, and sometimes it hurts. But love, the type of love that’s real – the love that Demetri has shown me – it’s selfless, it’s persistent. Real love pushes your boundaries, it pulls you until you snap, and then when you think you can’t take anymore, it’s relentless in its pursuit of your body, soul, and heart.”
So, Demetri finally let Nat go, and now she and Alec are deliriously in love. In Pull, they leave for LA, and Demetri stays behind to deal with his psychological issues. He gets a job at the taffy store Nat used to work at, singing the taffy jingle on the street corner. This is how he meets Alyssa. Alyssa is as dark and depressing as Demetri. She has a lot of guilt on her shoulders, and like Demetri she is barely going through the motions of life. I think this book was heavier with darker emotions than the first book. No complaints here, it just showcases RVD’s versatility. Just when we thought we knew Demetri… We get Pull. I fell in love with Demetri in a different way. He was just so much more open than Alec. And we see him make lots of effort to move on with his life, thus motivating Alyssa to start living too. Demetri and Alyssa’s story is one of healing, learning to live, moving on, accepting the past for what it is, and letting love in.
“Alec, whatever’s going on… you know I’ll always be by your side, right?”
“Can you promise me that?”
“Alec, you’re acting like the sky’s falling or something. I’m. Right. Here.”
“I know.”
“But damn if the guy I love isn’t a lifetime away from me. You ask me to promise you I’ll never leave, but it feels a lot like you keep trying to say goodbye.”
Shatter is told in Alec and Demetri’s POVs. The tension in this book is unreal. I was sweating and freaking out while reading, just waiting for all the shit to hit the fan. Demetri, Alyssa, Alec, Nat, British actor Jamie Jaymeson, and total bitch Angelica Greene are doing a reality show in Seaside. That can’t end well… We met Angelica in both the previous books, and all she does is cause trouble. This book is no exception. Just when we thought we knew all the Daniels’ boys dirty little secrets, we get totally blindsided by even more of them. So. Much. Drama. The couple most affected was unfortunately, Alec and Nat. We get to see how truly messed up Alec can be. He made me want to punch him in the face sometimes, but I still loved him. He just had some growing up to do. And lots of groveling. Alec has to actually fight for Nat this time. At the end of Tear, Dem kinda just let them be together. After he gets over himself, Alec has to pull all the stops to show Nat what she really means to him.
“I’m never giving up on you – I’m loving you forever – here’s my heart, take my soul and my body too. I live and breathe for you – want to die right beside you – hold my hand as we walk through this journey into eternity together.”
Forever was the book I thought I would be able to read while actually being able to breathe. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Alec and Demetri take my breath away. The things these boys say and do should be freaking illegal. We are spoiled once again by RVD by getting Alec, Nat, and Demetri's POVs this book. We see Alec and Nat truly get their happily ever after, and Demetri and Alyssa are having issues because Alyssa wants their final happily ever after too. This book was the perfect fairy tale for both the couples. And we get a nice introduction to Priscilla and Jaymeson, since theirs is the next book in the Seaside series. I would say this is my favorite RVD series, but let’s face it…. Everything she writes is my favorite. They’re just all so romantic! All the couples are depressingly cute, and all the guys are drop-dead swoonworthy. The story lines are unique, the dialogue makes me laugh at times, the one-liners kill me, the emotions own me, and overall, the books are just an experience that everyone should go through. I promise you’ll fall in love every single book.
“Our bad choices led us to Seaside, Oregon of all places. But that’s where we found our forever. It made me realize that sometimes forever isn’t where you expect it to be, and that’s okay. Because the best parts of my life have been unexpected, and I wouldn’t change that for the world.”

Rachel Van Dyken’s Seaside Series is a MUST READ collection of books. These four books tell the story of two Rock Star brothers Alec and Demetri as they struggle to come to terms with their past – secrets, mistakes, bad choices….and in the process find not only themselves but love.
As always, Rachel Van Dyken’s style of writing is flawless. She captivates you from the very start of the book and has you wishing the story will never end. Her characters are real and therefore flawed. You get to see and live through their raw and often times gritty emotional journey through both their struggles with their past and their current everyday life. Even though the storylines of these books are often heavy and emotional, Rachel is amazing about interspersing humor throughout the books. There are some fabulous one-liners that just had me cracking up!
I highly recommend The Seaside Series. Hang tight and Rachel Van Dyken will take you on a fantastic, gritty, intense, emotional journey. -
I read these books as entire series so I am going to rate them that way. I would rate the books within this series (not including Fall - Seaside #4) as a 4.5 overall. I really liked the first two books and the novella but I just felt like Shatter had too much drama that went on for way too long. At one point I kept reading, not because I was interested, but because I was dying for the drama to be over and for the story to move on. With that being said, I really did enjoy the Alec and Demetri characters, they were both adorable and I am looking forward to reading Jaymeson's story too.
-
This is a fabulous set of stories. It is true to form what many young stars face in reality. Through trial and error Alec and Demetri face their demons and finally start working through them. The books will make you laugh and make you cry. I am waiting for the last to see Jaymeson fall! It's gonna be epic!!
-
I haven't read a Rachel Van Dyken book I haven't loved, and I've read a lot of her books.
The Seaside series is full of adorable characters, complex and interesting. Makes me want to move there. I'm hooked! Now, I'll be waiting impatiently for the next in her mafia series, the Bet series, the Consequences series and now, Seaside. -
This box set was such a great read. I enjoyed getting to know Alec, Demitri, Nat and Aylssa as well as Jaymeson. The characters were so real for me and I felt like I was saying good bye as I finished the box set today.
The first book, Tear, felt like it was tearing me apart through much of the story. Nat was dating one brother and loving the other. I wanted her to decide and I didn’t like that they were in this constant state of turmoil. I wasn’t sure who I wanted to hug most at several points in the story.
The second book, Pull, was even more emotional if that were possible. Alyssa and Demitri are fighting such hard battles within themselves, but somehow they manage to help each other grow and become the people they want to be. This story pulled at my heart many times and I cried right along with the characters several times.
The third book, Shatter, was my fav of the series. I already knew all of the characters and I already felt like they were family so I enjoyed that part, BUT the drama of this book was really difficult to cope with sometimes. Alec is my favorite of the brothers (though we’re not supposed to have favs) and his struggles felt so real. I totally understood where he was coming from as the person who helped everyone else before dealing with his own baggage. This story really just made me fall in love with the characters all over again.
Forever, the final book in this set, was just the perfect ending to this chapter. I think happy endings should be a requirement in romance novels! ((Well, not really, but if they could all end like this, I would love them all the more.))
I love how Ms VanDyken writes and I truly enjoy everything she has written. I give this box set 5 out of 5 stars!!! -
The Seaside Series: Boxed Set (Seaside #1-3.5) was a great read by Rachel Van Dyken. This boxed set consists of; Tear, Pull, Shatter, and Forever. Meg's Review:I LOVED this series. Sometimes I am little late to the game with epic authors. Rachel Van Dyken had yet to write a book I haven't adored. I read these books as the box set so my review will be a complete one.
Each novel follows a different set of characters in set of friends living in a small town. I felt like it was a TV show as I read it. The way Rachel Van Dyken weaves this world around you, you fall for these characters and their trifles.
The Characters we meet are Alec, Demetri, Natalie, Alyssa and Jameson. We do meet other secondary characters but these are the main ones. This series follows stars falling in love and trying to escape the limelights to deal with their personal lives, well personally.
This series is a MUST read. If you are new to RVD this is a great way to jump in and test the waters. You get a world that is real and characters that show you their vulnerabilities, all the while giving you a glimpse into their crazy rock star lives.

Overall this was a great series to read.
I enjoyed the books and the different points of view for each of the books. I felt that Shattered was a bit over dramatic and not necessary to the series. Remember while reading the books that the main characters are all mostly teenagers fresh out of high school.
I would def. recommend this series. -
Great series
I enjoyed every book in this series, and loved reading about all the characters. I definitely recommend this boxed set! -
Got the box set for a re-read, so good.

Enjoyed
I enjoyed reading all of these books and would recommend them to others. Each story has a complete ending . -
Series
Definitely worth reading... Now I have to get the next book. Leaves you wanting to know more about each character. -
Tear:
I read Seaside Pictures, Capture, first so I knew about the characters already and a tiny bit of their stories, but reading this finally was a great treat.
Nat falls for two guys. Brothers Demetri and Alec, but her love is different with each of them. One will own her heart while the other remains a close friend.
I'm not much for rocker books, but I really like this one. Rachel Van Dyken is one of my top 5 favorite authors! I read anything and everything she has. I love her ability to craft words and turn a story full of difficult subjects, like drugs and death, into something beautiful to read. I also love that her books are romances, but the focus isn't on sex like so many are these days. She sticks to two people, some times three, getting to know each other and building a relationship together. Tear is another one that is a fabulous romance read. I'm on Pull now and already loving it.
Pull:
Funny, sarcastic, but with a deeper meaning. Two people suffer from great losses in their life only to come together and find something new and healing with one another.
Demetri is struggling to deal with the hardships of life that his brother always tried to shield him from. He's suffering trying to find himself, it seems to this reader.
Alyssa struggles daily with being damaged from an accident that took her boyfriend from her. She really isn't living anymore, merely existing.
Together, they for their own little puzzle of broken pieces that only the two of them can mend together.
I love Demetri and Alyssa's sense of humor and the healing that takes place for both of them in this book. It is sweet, funny, romantic, and a HEA. I found it hard to put away when I needed to get other things done and was a great read for listening while I was on walks.
Shatter:
Alec has had a rough past, but now it looks like it is out to ruin his future. Demetri is recovering, strong, and there for his brother when he needs him most. But what happens when the person who has protected you your whole life needs the protection, but refuses to open up?
There is still a lot that Alec needs to learn about life before he can move forward.
A great suspense read. I found myself unable to put it down to try and find out what secrets Alec was trying to keep in the dark to protect the ones he loves. I'm pretty good at figuring out what is happening before it comes out, so I caught on pretty well with Shatter.
I found Alec's chapters agonizing and heartbreaking. While Demetri's were funny, but at the same time, I felt a link with him as he tries to figure everything out.
Forever:
A great way to wrap up Alec/Nat and Demetri/Alyssa's stories. Sweet, heartfelt, and funny to read.
Alec finally lets go, as best he can, to his need to control everything and finally have his happily ever after with Nat. While Demetri struggles to find a way to prove his love for Alyssa. Then there is Jaymeson who is starting to see that his way of life isn't as great as he always thought it was. Again, great ending to the first couples' stories and introduction into Jaymeson's story. -
3. Buch
Happyly ever after?
I liked it, I liked some parts more than others but overall it was really good for a young adult/new adult story.

I bought this series as a box set so I'm just going to review it as one big book since I read straight through.
Rachel Van Dyken is one of my favorite authors. Not just for her writing but because she's such a kind lady in real life. I'm part of her fan group on Facebook and she's always on their asking how everyone is doing so I just praise her for being her.
The Seaside Series is one of a kind. It's just so presh and cute and the characters all ROCK.... literally. We start with Nat Murray a senior at Seaside High School and how she bumps into two guys who will forever change her world: Alec Daniels and Demetri Daniels otherwise known as the famous rock duo AD2. Everybody is going crazy for these two but it's the two of them who attract the most attention out of Nat... Can somebody say LOVE TRIANGLE? We all know I'm not a fan of love triangles but I really love RachVD so I went with it.. and she took me on a rollercoaster. They've all go their own set of issues and some incredibly dark pasts, but they all thrive on their own. We meet new characters along the way: Alyssa, Jaymeson, and Bob the Bodyguard.“You’re so damn beautiful, Nat. And you don’t even know it. You don’t see what everyone else sees. This beautiful, bright girl — you’re like the sun.”
“The sun?” I repeated.
“I want to revolve around you.”
The books go like this:
Tear: Alec and Nat's story
Pull: Demetri and Alyssa's story
Shatter: Alec's internal battles and his relationship with Nat (after events in Pull)
Forever: Alec and Nat's conclusion
Overall, I'm really happy with this Series. I cannot wait for Fall, Jaymeson's story!! And also Demetri and Alyssa's conclusion. The thing about Rachel is she writes very quick reads so I'm glad I waited for the box set or else I would have been dying waiting for the next books! I'm giving this series 4 STARS out of 5 STARS. Go read this book lovers!!

I would give this box set a 4.5, only because the first book I rrated at a 3. But the series really did pick up for me starting with the second book.
Tear ~ A good quick read. Nothing really heavy in it, there were some parts that could have been deeper, but they weren't. I'll keep reading the series though. I do want to know what happens with the characters in the book.
Pull ~ I liked Pull better than Tear. Of course in Tear, I was Team Alec. But after reading this book, I really like Demetri now too. I'm glad that his story was told. The emotions ran a lot deeper in this book. Both Demetri and Alyssa have a lot to move past.
Shatter ~ This is the best of the series yet! I'm glad that I stuck with the series and continued reading it. I gave the first 2 books a 3 and 4 star. This book is filled with DRAMA. They are filming a reality tv show now and all are living together. They have theme weeks, one is team building and another is bringing the past out. This is the week when everything blows up and finally comes out into the open. Will definitely be reading the novella next and the next book as well.
Forever ~ I really liked this short read about Alec and Nat's wedding. We got a glimpse of Jaymeson meeting Pris, also. Can't wait to read the next book. -
I purchased and read the boxes set of The Seaside Series by Rachel Van Dyken (Tear, Pull, Shatter, Forever). So glad I did as I was able to follow the paths of Alex, Nat, Demetri and Alyssa as they fell in love, out of love, back in love. And saw the growth of Alex and Demetri from broken confused young men to confident, clear, strong men. They fought their past demons and new demons to come out stronger in the end. I will admit to being a RVD shameless fan, but her characters just grab my heart and mind, so much so that I don't want the stories to end. I feel like they become part of my life. If you want a good, intense read, but not a lot of hot sex, just relationship, life, and love building read this series. There is sex but it is not the main topic in these stories. You will FEEL these books. Seriously, fantastic series of books. Crying. Laughing, Aching. Sad - I want to keep reading.
-
Can you rate a book/series a 6 out of 5?!?! Cause I want to!!!
5 unbelievable, rock star stars!
WOw. Just wow. BRB buying the rest!
Nat, & Alec
Dem, & Lyss
The dynamic foursome, sign me up!
Alec and Demetri both have very bad views about themselves that, after a long long long long time they work out. But you can't help but not love them, even where they're at their darkest.
"Angels don't belong with demons."
And then introduce Jaymeson... who's book I'm so excited to start!
God, he is pure gold. Comic relief at it's truest form.
""Is that a tooth?" Ruben pointed to the ground. "Hey, Ruben found my tooth!!""Our bad choices led us to Seaside Oregon of all
places. But that's where we found our forever.
-
Wow just amazing Rachel makes me feel I am apart of them in this journey. Nat and Alec, Demitri what can I say except you will fall in love with all three. Was happy at the end of this book. But still a little sad for one.
book 2 Well as you know he has to turn his life around and he does. And meets his HEA. Oh they go through alot to get them there but just beautiful.
book 3 I was so scared because I thought I was gonna dye. Constanly saying nooooooo cause I really didn't know what was gonna happen. But after a bunch of stupid secrets and mistakes made. Life always works out the way its suppose to lets just say that .
book 3.5 So sweet amazing can you tell I love this series <3
now I wait for Jaymeson who is going to be in my hands soon so excited <3 -
Relationships is like a rollercoaster
Relationships is like a rollercoaster
Awesome stories. Going from one book to the others in this series was really put together greatly. I couldn't put them down. I wanted to keep reading and hoping there isn't a break in the store with the next book in line.
Rock stars movie actors and actresses, two local girls and one innocent teenager makes these stories so exciting. I personally would love to see these books be turned into a movie for t.v.
If you enjoy a good romance one that keeeps you on the seat of your chair then this is the book series for you.
Happy reading! -
I loved this set from the first page in book 1. The books are really about young rockers Alec and Demetri and how they settle down and find love in the small town of Seaside. This is classed as a New Adult Rocker set but it truly warms the heart in a gentle way. Underneath all of these books lie some of what I believe may be Rachel's core values. You won't find explicit sex in these books or bad choices that don't have repercussions. A fun enjoyable read and at only around a dollar a book, amazing value for money!

once again Rachel Van Dyken does not disappoint!! So much laughter, love, heartbreak and hold on to your seat drama!! where oh where is MY rock star!?!? Each book was its own fantastic merry go round of excitement and intrigue, please Please PLEASE read these books! I laughed out loud countless times as well as cried. I will not give spoilers but I will say, get your Taffy out, hold on tight to your carousel unicorn and strap on your fairy wings... you are going to LOVE this ride!!!

Completely hooked, brilliant writing, I love this author.
I couldn't put it down, I was so engrossed in the lives of these characters, Alec, Nat, Demetri, Alyssa, Jaymeson. I desperately needed to find out what their issues were and loved the therapy sessions. The banter between the brothers especially, then all together, hilarious.
Can't wait for Jaymeson' s story, will Priscilla play a part??? -
Absolutely A Must Read!!!!!!
I seriously got myself in trouble with my husband because I couldn't put it down. I was so hooked that I had so many late, late, late nights that I had a very hard time getting up in the morning to get my kids to school. The characters were so awesome and lovable. Rachel did such a wonderful job with this series. I look forward to getting the next book and reading about Jaymeson and Priscilla. -
4-4.5
I really liked this series although I noticed some major editing errors it didn't make me like the book any less.
If people are sticklers for editing then you will definitely notice. One being pretty major is that Alec's eyes changed from green to blue, another is in book two and supposed to be written from Alyssa'a point of view but switched to Demetri's. A few other things with time line but the series was still very enjoyable. I'm excited to read Fall.
