This book suffers from a few issues. First, it has been over half a year since the last volume and I barely remember what was going on. Second, it isn’t so interesting that I felt compelled to re-read the last volume to refresh my memory. Third, I am largely over villainess/isekai stories at this point and this is, well, one of them.

Not to mention it leads off with a cartoon villain gloating about bashing a girl’s head in with a rock. He’s acting out from a place of abuse, but do I really care? They could have given this more stakes in better fashion. Honestly, this whole storyline kind of left me flat.

Mostly the volume proper involves Cecilia being incredibly dumb about relationships and I don’t mind that aspect. After getting past all the gay panic with Oscar, she interprets his confession as meaning he’s the gay one after all because she doesn’t know that he knows. Whoops.

Gil continues to have his sister complex, although there’s an amusing suggestion that he and Lean have a lot more in common than it first appears. We also get the introduction of twins and a threat of animal cruelty that’s a bit of a bummer. The costuming is great, at least, and Cecil’s turn as a heartstopping vampire is really funny (her popularity with the ladies as Cecil is a great running gag).

It is exactly what it is and has been. Besides I’m In Love With the Villainess, it is the last isekai/reincarnation/game world clinging to my reading list, I think, and it manages to be fine if you like that sort of thing. I don’t think anything here is especially novel, but I like the cast enough to put up with a plot that I genuinely couldn’t care less for.

Gilbert and his wavy dark hair is my favorite thing about this series...
