Accidental Action Star (Accidental #3) Reviews
-
Hannah does not want to be a chef like her Mom. She wants to get far away from the FOOD world. Hannah loves art and wants to be an artist. She works on her Mom's cooking show part-time while be an intern for the art department with the studio. The same studio featuring a movie staring Max Stone. Hannah meet Marissa who is now dating Garrett who is friends with Max. Crazy right.
Max has one rule never date a girl twice. So what is Max to do when he finds himself thinking of Hannah after they OFFICIALLY went out on 2 dates. Well I guess he breaks his rule.
Hannah is determined to get more kisses from Max. She knows she can get him to give into his feelings and break his rules. She just has to play by his rules. She does just that and hopefully she can get the guy and the job.
Hannah sees an opening in the art department to show her work and takes the chance to get her sketches to Max to see if she is right with what Max envisions for his characters in a new upcoming animated movie. Max is impressed even though he does not know if is Hannah's drawings.
Hannah and Max work on the rules of a relationship and decide to just go with the flow and throw out the rules.

All Hannah dreams of being is an artist and through a bit of talking her mum into putting in a good word for her, she has managed to get an unpaid internship with the art department at the film studio where her mum hosts her cooking show. Hannah's mum wants her to become the next big Chef and work with her, but Hannah doesn't want to be in front of the camera or be a chef. In the art department, they are trying to get Max Stone to sign off for pictures for the new film. He keeps rejecting everything sent to him or taking forever to get back to them. They are at their wit's end and so the Art Director sends Hannah to his film set. Here she meets Max and they have some words and the film director sees their banter and chemistry sizzling. He loves it so much that he offers Hannah a spot for their movie straight away and soon becomes Hannah's life of juggling her Art Internship, Her mother's show and now a part in the action movie. While this is all happening, Max and Hannah are getting closer but Max has a rule where he doesn't do more than one date as he's not a relationship guy. However, Hannah is making Max feel like he should reconsider his rules? Is Hannah the girl to finally show Max what real YA love feels like? Find out in Accidental Action Star. I do enjoy the Accidental series, but this one would have to be my least favorite book of the series. I felt that I just didn't click as well with the characters in this book.

I loved this third book in the Accidental series. It follows suit in that the MC this time is Hannah and the celebrity is one "The Max Stone - the studio's hottest, top-ranked, action star." And I must say that he is definitely portrayed as such! However, he also was portrayed to be a real tool and (in my humble opinion) the least likable character in the series so far. He was very possessive towards Hannah, even when he had no right to be...not that any man does, but they weren't even a couple and he'd still get upset with her for being with a male friend.
Hannah is an artist whose dream is to be an artist for a major picture studio. Hannah will stop at nothing to get what she wants, even if it means becoming an "accidental action star." What I liked best about this book was Hannah's ability to do whatever she needed to and her being an action star was too funny the way it all came about. -
“I have a crystal lair? I always wanted a crystal lair.”
Emily Evans is definitely my guilty pleasure. I know my IQ is dropping as I read but that doesn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying it. I think it's because her books make me feel in all the right places.
I smiled bigger, all twinkly and happy inside.
I so enjoy her confident style. She knows her characters so well. I like the way she gives strength to their relationships and chemistry with one look and one word.
This time round, we've got Hannah's comically negative roommate, Eve, who doesn't believe any of the stories that Hannah relates to her about her day. Eve adds such a great touch to the story because I found her part funny, and friendships so often in novels are so dry.
Max is a pretty big asshole but I was in the mood for his hot and cold personality.
Max moved to leave, but before he got to the door he turned back and faced the two men. His eyes narrowed. His expression chilled ten degrees cooler. “If Hannah has to break out her martial art moves in here again, I’ll be back to show you mine.”
Max is definitely not my favourite Emily Evans' hero but I still really liked him because despite his difficult attitude, he's a lot hotter than many fictional boyfriends. -
I have read all three books in the series and love them all. Hannah was so resistant to make Max her's. And it worked! Max was a but of a tool, but then finally realized that he needed someone like Hannah in his life. Ms. Evan's romance always gives me a huge smile on my face. She probably writes my favorite YA romances. I stayed up until like 2 a.m. the other night to download this on my Kindle. It was worth it! 4.5 stars Can't wait for more of her books.

Well, well, well. It's Hannah's story and no other than with Max fucking stone and guess what? From being an intern at Scoop Out she got a role in an action movie! How the hell did that happen? Well, like the two books beforehand, something came up and the director needed a Snow Queen STAT! So she became an Action Star. Immediately. Yeah, kind of unrealistic. But who am I to argue with the plot?
There is always something about Emily Evans' books that I don't like yet at the same time I like. Her descriptions are kind of vague and the characters aren't shaped up that well. I have to volume up my imagination just to keep going on my reading. And did I mention unrealistic? And it's cliche. But Evans make good endings and after reading this book, I was already daydreaming. And that are bonus points for the book. -
Fun to read. Series or standalone. Hannah was one busy girl. Max was dreadful and least likable of the series with his awkward broodiness.
-
It's an ok book, although I think it's inferior to the first two.
In the end, I still didn't find Max very likeable, to be honest. I don't think she should date him. And not even because of his two-date-rule. For me, there's only so much "male possessiveness" I can write off as cute. And him explicitly not taking her to the movie premiere and then getting possessive when she shows up with a friend, who he knows is just a friend, all while he has a model-type woman clinging to him, having the guts to tell her "I don't like that you are here with another man, you are with me now", and all this when their relationship hasn't even started... oh Lord, that such a big no-no, that's such a warning bell ringing in my ears. Is he even gonna allow her to work at the art studio alone with the two male artists, or will he go all in and have her locked up in his house when he can't watch her?
That might sound excessive now, but the manipulating behaviour he shows at their previous dates (the texting thing) and the movie premiere sure and hell doesn't just go away. -
3.5 stars. I liked this book but not as much as the others in the series, for many of the reasons other reviewers listed as well. It was a bit too short for me. I also felt that a lot if it is rehashed from other stories, only from a different person's perspective. If I hadn't read the other books it wouldn't have been an issue, but as I was reading it felt like much of it I'd already read before and it didn't quite pull off the effect it was intended for. It just felt like it wasn't as creative of original as the others were. Having said all of that, I liked that is was a clean (mostly) read and it was a cute story, a mindless escape. In that way, it did what it was intended for and I was satisfied with my purchase.

An industry insider
Having been in the movie industry for many years myself I was surprised and pleased at the accurate on set descriptions in many of the scenes of this book. As for the story, it is witty and charming and not nearly long enough. The characters are adorable and I wouldn't like to spend a lot more time with them. -
It was a fun book, did what it said on the tin! Definitely a guilty pleasure, but honestly if you want something short and cute for a summer day or after a hard, cold, winter day, it does the trick and it brought me joy.

It's quite unrealistic but you already know that. You've read the blurb right?
This would be my third Emily Evans book. I haven't read the first 2 of this series though. Still, I quickly grasped the story since it's somehow a standalone too. Every book has different main characters that live in the same planet wherein they... you guessed it, accidentally meet and fall in love with their uberly famous and handsome heroes.
This book features Hannah Sims, an intern from the art department/intern and potential co-host of Scoop Out/newest action star! She is also the daughter of Sarah Sims, an uptight version of Julia Child, and host of Scoop Out.
Let's not forget about Max Stone. The brooding action star.
The blurb is pretty much spot on. I wasn't really expecting anything but a cute mindless read and I got my fix so I won't complain. I won't be critical but it doesn't hurt to list the things I didn't like, right? I promise to make this brief. I wouldn't want to write a review that is longer than the actual book.
What I didn't like:
1. It's too Literal
So when you work for the art department, half of the time you are covered with paint? I see...
2. The Details
There weren't enough. I think it is what made this book generic and forgettable. I am not saying to describe the characters' appearance and all, but additional description of the setting and the actual scene wouldn't hurt. Oh, and details about a character's side story, particularly Max's. And I think Miss Evans should made a little more effort with the studio set. I felt like it took 3 actors, an AD (because the director just visited once), a costume designer called Cutter, a make-up artist called Powder, and well, Clipper. To think the movie is this supposedly big action flick.
3. Team Mannah
Before you throw your tomatoes at me, here me out. Hello insta-connection/love/whatever! There weren't enough interactions for me to root for them. I get why Max likes Hannah, she is pretty kickass but Max? Yikes. He could have had more character than that.
It still put me in a good mood so I gotta give 3 stars. I'm a sucker for happy endings after all. Even the cliche ones. -
Accidental Action Star is a mediocre book. 3 stars. Why? It's not bad. I just feel like I'm rereading the last two books with different characters. This will be a shorter review than usual because I don't want to end up rewriting my last review.
Hannah has blond hair, exactly like Ashley and Marissa. What's more? Her flirting abilities are pretty much exactly the same; flawless. If you read my review of
Accidental TV Star, you may remember that I mentioned Marissa's unusual mastery of flirting. Hannah flirts the exact same way and with the same fervor and and motions. It's not creative, realistic, or unique.
By the way, Hannah is Sarah Sims' daughter, the girl who got her hair chopped off by the ninja grandma in the last book! Also, like Ashley, Hannah had to act with Max for some coincidental reason. ALSO....all three girls are from Texas. Marissa and Ashley: that makes sense because they are best friends and Ashley hooked Marissa up with Garrett. But Hannah? This author is actually from Houston, so that's probably why. But come on!
Again with the instalove, like the last book. And Max isn't even a nice guy! He is a shallow, stuck-up jerk who doesn't date any girl more than twice and only does so for sex. He's not someone I can fall for. He's not a good bad boy character (I just realized the paradox in that statement). That was another thing that wasn't really believable.
Why did he fall for Hannah? What's so special about her? Why did she get more than two dates? Her flirting and seductiveness can't be superior to that of the models and actresses that surround Max and who are usually top notch seductresses. Hannah doesn't even offer him what he expects. I mean, I applaud her and all, but in context it doesn't make sense.
Again, like the last book, this one uses the phrase "OMG" too many times.
I still love Powder the makeup girl's strength and snarkiness and Cutter the costume guy's OCD is as hilarious as ever!
I did like how each girl in the three books had their own ambitions. Ashley is really into architecture, Marissa loves to cook, and Hannah loves art. I also liked how all of their stories overlapped.
I am writing this review after already reading the fourth and final book of the series and I can tell you, don't lose hope!
The last one is the best and most unique of the series. So KEEP GOING! Don't let this book or the others discourage you from finishing the series :D -
You can read this review and more on my blog:
Hannah was a great leading lady. She was hard-working, funny talented, and confident. She knew what she wanted and she went for it no matter what, but I have no idea why she wanted Max.
I didn’t like him at all as a male lead, and by the end, instead of going “aww” because they got together, I rolled my eyes.
I think the fact that this book was so short, and I barely got to know him is a large part of why I didn’t like him. The other part is because he was a jerk to Hannah!
He had this stupid rule about never dating a girl more than twice, but he also asked Hannah to go back to his place (I assume to sleep together) on both of those dates. Also in the first of these dates, he takes her to a crappy coffee shop, Invites one of his friends and ignores her most of the time.
I have no clue why she even agreed to the second date especially knowing he would never give her a third. It would be one thing if he had done something thoughtful or charming before they went out, but he never did. He wasn’t mean to her, but there was no good reason for her to like him. He didn’t even talk half the time. All he ever seemed to do was work out, and find new ways to frustrate Hannah.
Sorry, but my patience for the “meathead” leading man who treats a girl like crap, is very thin lately. Plus she spent way too much time proving herself to him and trying to come up with ways to catch his attention. That’s just not the way the women behaved in the first two book in this series so I was expecting more.
This wasn’t the worst romance I have ever read by far. It still had that same funny and fluffy feeling that I got from the other two, but when I compare them, this one just didn’t fit. I liked Hannah, but Max, the stud, was a dud.
If you like the strong silent type, and don’t mind it when a girl chases the guy even though he never gives her a good reason to like him, this would be a great romance for you. The writing is still adorable.
Because of mild language and some kissing scenes, I would recommend this for ages 15 and up. There was no sexual content.

Describe this book in one sentence- College freshman shoots for her dreams while trying to score her guy.
Rating- PG-13
Why this rating?- Mature content and a small amount of mild kissing.
For ages- 15-18
Recommended to- Fans of all YA chic-lit and beach reads.
Stars- Four out of Five.
Why this number of stars-
The Cover~ Fantastic! If you want your cover to be simple, make it at least relatable to the content. Ms. Evans made the cover content related to the story AND eye-catching. Simply phenomenal.
The Content~ The plot was pretty cookie cutter chic-lit, but Ms. Evans added her own flair by making the characters have more depth. It had a bit too many clichés for me, but overall the novel was cute and light hearted. For a self published book, it was well edited and proofread. I think this may be one of the best self published books I've read ever read.
Character Development~ Character development in this novel was stellar. The reader sees the change in how Hannah's mother and peers treat her from beginning to end. Hannah really takes charge, and by the end shows the spine to gain respect from everyone.
Would I read the second book?- This is the third book in the series, so I should probably read the other two first, but I will definitely finish reading this series while at the beach this summer. -
So I find it interesting that this was set concurrently with Accidental TV Star, BUT there's was no hint of that in Accidental TV Star. Yes a few scene from the previous book were shown from a different point of view however Marissa pretty observant or at least she was portrayed as such in the previous novel, she would have picked up on a lot of this. Also he loves her but has never officially called her his girlfriend? Am I the only one that thinks that's a little backwards? It's like the book started the build to a decent relationship story then decided to skip to the end after the relationship happened. I'm more than happy to suspend disbelieve on the actor hero, you pretty much have to be if you're willing to pick up a book that has an actor or actress as a hero or heroine, but while the others delivered more on character relationship interactions and a secondary plot this one didn't so much do so. It was missing the relationship building elements that the other books in the series offered which is disappointing because I liked the characters and I was looking forward to seeing how a relationship between the two would go.
As always it's a quick, fast paced read with a lighthearted feel to it, but this book is more okay and nice to read as a part of the series than it was actually good. -
I devoured this book too.
Wasn't as good as the others, but we cleverly introduced a new character into this story.
I enjoyed how we had a practical friendship with The Guy - but a romance with him? He could be a stalker-pervert and we wouldn't know - but we still love him right? It was ridiculous and I think their romance was rushed - I feel like we missed several dates/meeting/conversations that were important. Almost like watching a new show, and missing two episodes from the season finale and you're like "Wait who are you?" or "Wait isn't she the bad guy!?' or "Holy sh-! when did you get superpowers!?" and just nothing makes real sense, but we're here.... sooo... - THAT'S how their relationship was. And then we added some family softie-ness to get us to fall in love with him because look how nice he is to his liddle bwudder!
It offended my senses - But! it was fun trying to guess who the next girl would be - and getting to see Powder again. :)
So that's all. 3 stars. Maybe a 3.5 - but no higher in my opinion.
Keep reading! Your vocabulary abounds, every single (other) book you read!!!
Lol.

Adorable! A really quick read, but complete story so it didn't leave me wanting. If only stuff like this actually happened in real life, lol! Sign me up for a movie internship! It was also an odd mixture of sultry and innocent at times... It would ramp up, all heated gazes and lingering touches and then nothing; it's not a complaint, really, just an observation. I like how all the stories are connected- they can all stand as individual stories, but we have characters and plot lines set up in the previous story, so it's not just out of the blue.
I was wondering if we'd get to see Hannah's story told, especially after what psycho Grandma Gert did to her in the previous book, lol! I didn't care for Max's character too much- he acted to hot and cold toward Hannah. He'd be all smiles and then distance himself with his "rules"... idiot! They got there in the end, though, which is all that matters. -
Interesting read
I really enjoyed this book and ended up reading it in one sitting from 1am. However, while the characters are likable enough, I feel as though the problems introduced throughout the book were resolved a little too quickly. This could be due to the length of the book being quite short, but it just isn't believable for a commitment-phobe to recover with a couple of words of reassurance.
Despite my criticisms, I would recommend giving this book a read. It flowed nicely, made me smile and occasionally made my heart tighten. Hannah's determination is admirable and she showed a passion to help others while also fulfilling her on ambitions. -
It is entertaining but there were time when I couldn't connect with Hannah or Max or the story itself. The plt had a lot more potencial and the characters backround could have been explored a little bit more. It makes a nice reading and it's good if you wanna distract youself for a while.
It's always nice to find the connections to other characters that appear in the other two books.
Max character confuse me sometimes and I didn't fell for him like I did with Garret and Caz, but Max is still lovable. -
I was disappointed in this book. Because it took place concurrently with the last book, some of the scenes overlapped and those scenes weren't really re-written from a new POV so nothing new was added. I did enjoy the new stuff though and the character development for Hannah, who I had liked from the last book. And seeing more of Powder, of course, who I think is my favorite character in the whole series.
-
A little disjointed in my opinion. I found that I had to jump back to make sure I hadn't missed pages in the book. The fact that there were overlaps with Accidental TV Star were fun, but I also found this assumed certain previous knowledge which didn't always work for me. The only reason this one didn't get 4 stars.
-
Ahhhh i love Max Stone! <3 Such a great storyline, though there were a couple scenes where I felt like it was a bit rushed, like in one scene Hannah and Max are against each other and suddenly they're together making out. Which was totally swoony but had me reeling, wondering if I missed a page or something. But overall such a wonderful read!
-
This is another fun read.
Just dont ask where the romance and the chemistry is, cos I couldnt find any.
There seems zilch between Hannah and Max.
Max comes off as tooo cold and aloof, while Hannah is almost fun but seems to hang on to Max a lot.
Another unrealistic but kinda-fun-read from Emily Evans! -
DNF page 38. The writing style was so juevenile, and right from the begining, the plot was too far-fetched. I can't believe I just wasted £2 on this. Even if the writing was gold, I shouldn't have expected much from a story 109 pages long. So disappointed.
-
Cute (as was Accidental Movie Star, but can't read Accidental TV Star because I hate the Scottish character in the Movie Star book so much). However, the whole Accidental series is not up to Evans' best. None of the characters are better than OK.
-
Good and fun as all the others in the series.
This is my 2 go around and I just realize we hardly get to know Max. He barely talks and doesn't really talk about himself.
