Violet Mackerel's Helpful Suggestion (Violet Mackerel #7) Reviews

So much Love for Violet Mackerel!

I've officially read all of the books in the Violet Mackerel series. Reading this book was very enjoyable and sentimental for me. Violet is a sensitive, caring, creative and smart girl who greatly values her family and friendship with Rose. It was difficult for Violet to imagine Rose leaving for six weeks to travel with her family to Japan and see her step father Vincent struggle to remember inventory for a potential job. Violet discovers the 'Theory of Sending Small Things" as an anedote to dealing with such predicaments. Susan Davis' illustrations were delicate in detail, capturing intimate moments Violet shares with Vincent, Rose, and her mom and siblings. Readers will gain keen insight into cultivating loving relationships and modes of creativity in solving problems. Ann Branford's narrative style is beautiful.

Book seven of the Violet series, and I am churning through these like no-ones business as they say, why who knows, but they say it anyway. Violet wins you over again with her charm and the story motors along nicely. A great series with another great entry, its coming to and end though, this being the penultimate entry.

Finally ordered #7 and 8 from abroad. Not excited that the illustrations are different (though I like them just as much, we just got used to the one in the US version). This wasn't our favorite of the series (which we LOVE), but sweet and worthwhile nonetheless.

Violet Mackerel is very excited for her next door neighbor and best friend Rose, who is going on a trip to Japan! Violet is going to miss her terribly, although she doesn't want to come across unexcited for Rose. The tale of the two clever girls' motives and means of communication is clever and heartwarming, as we follow Violet on her quest to come up with a perfect plan and a very helpful suggestion.

Violet Mackerel would have been a favourite of mine if they'd been around when I was a child. This book doesn't fail to deliver. Violet's friend and next door neighbour, Rose, is going to Japan with her family for six weeks. Violet and Rose have to think up a plan so they won't forget one another. It's a lovely book and I very much enjoy the beautiful illustrations throughout the book.
