When professional hockey player Sig Gauthier’s car breaks down and his phone dies, he treks into a posh private country club to call a tow truck, where he encounters the alluring Chloe Clifford, the manic pixie dream girl who captivates him immediately with her sense of adventure and penchant for stealing champagne.
Sparks fly during a moonlight kiss and the enamored pair can’t wait to see each other again, but when Sig finally arrives to meet his dad’s new girlfriend over dinner, Chloe is confusingly also there. Turns out the girlfriend is Chloe’s mother. Oh, and they’re engaged.
Sig’s dream girl is his future stepsister.
Though the pair is now wary of being involved romantically, Chloe, a sheltered harp prodigy, yearns to escape her controlling mother. Sig promises to teach her the ins and outs of independence in Boston—but not inside his bedroom. They both know there can never be more than friendship between a famous hockey player and his high-society, soon-to-be stepsister. But keeping their relationship platonic grows harder amid the developing family drama, especially knowing they were meant for so much more…

I'm done with book 2 and I need this book more than anything else 😩
_
I'm not even done with book 2 and I want their book more 🤭🤭 -
no because this is gonna be hot and i won’t even complain if he slobbers on her tits like all of TB’s heroes
-
I have a bet with someone that there will be pegging in this one. Just need it on the record here for posterior, I mean posterity.
Also gonna need someone to confirm this when it gets arced as I am off this author for good. -
Okay my dear bookworms, raise your hand if you were dying to read Chloe and Sig’s story since their introduction in the previous book! I’m definitely raising both hands! Honestly, I barely skimmed the blurb before diving right in—I was too excited to see what would unfold between these two.
Can you imagine? You meet your dream girl in a whirlwind of moonlit kisses and shared secrets, only to discover that she’s about to become your stepsister. That’s exactly the wild, heart-wrenching dilemma Sig finds himself in, thanks to his estranged, grifter father deciding to marry Chloe’s wealthy mother, Sofia. What starts as a picture-perfect romantic connection quickly spirals into a forbidden love that seems impossible to pursue. Yet, the chemistry between Sig and Chloe is undeniable, and no matter how much they try to resist, the sparks between them only grow hotter.
Sig can’t just let his dream girl slip away, and Chloe, with her sheltered harp-playing background, finds herself falling deeper for him with every encounter. While they both hope their parents' whirlwind romance will somehow fall apart, it seems unlikely, leaving Sig and Chloe in a complicated emotional bind. Watching them navigate this tricky situation while still building an undeniable bond is equal parts sweet and sizzling.
I already adored these characters from their previous appearances, and seeing them fully take the stage in Dream Girl Drama was so satisfying. Sig’s protective nature and Chloe’s quiet strength create a perfect match, and the way their relationship balances tenderness with tension kept me hooked. The playful banter, steamy moments, and heartfelt exchanges made me root for their happily-ever-after from page one. It’s the perfect blend of spice and sweetness, and let’s just say, I didn’t want to see them separated for even a second!
Tessa Bailey strikes gold with this one, giving us a love story that’s forbidden, electric, and full of heart. If you’ve been eagerly waiting for Sig and Chloe to get their moment, this book delivers in every way. Keep your fingers crossed for them, because you’ll be just as invested in their love story as they are!

Future step siblings meet and fall for each other, but they can’t be together, because it would look “weird”. The whole storyline revolved around this and this was probably why I couldn’t fully enjoy this one. This one wasn’t the worst, but it def wasn’t my favorite. For me, I just couldn’t understand why it would be weird for them to be together when they met as adults before they even knew their parents were together. All they would have to do is say that publicly and I felt like it wouldn’t be weird at all? Maybe I am not familiar with famous/rich people customs and right vs wrong?
The chemistry between them was extreme. But I don’t know that it felt like love, more like lust. And the FMC seemed so helpless at times & he was doing everything for her and getting nothing in return… idk this one just was outside of my ability to understand.
The best part about this book was definitely the chemistry between them though and that saved the book. I think some people will really enjoy this book, but it was just so-so for me.

The way I knew these characters would have a book at the first mention of them in The Au Pair Affair 😭
-
sigh i dont know why i decided to put myself through another TB book, i swore her off after fangirl down but i am too much of a slut for a forbidden romance with this kind of premise.
in typical fashion it is extremely insta love and in the worst way. these two are well into their 20s, maybe even early 30s and they act like two 14 year olds that fear the world will end if mommy and daddy dont approve of them.
i had to dnf at 47% bc i just couldnt listen to one more word out of any characters mouth 💀 -
4.5 RTC

Whew, I loved this book.
It starts out with what feels like a lightning bolt of attraction striking Sig and Chloe. I’m not always sold on instalove but the chemistry between these two is undeniable. From there it evolves into a slow burn of trying to resist each other once they know they’re destined to be step-siblings. Neither is very good at staying away from each other, so even as they don’t give into their basic urges, they are constantly together and the tension their closeness builds is delicious.
Sig is the epitome of a simp/man-obsessed/ultimate protector over Chloe and it’s hot. It’s especially hot because he’s all those things in way that encourages and supports Chloe trying new things, learning to be more independent, and break out of her comfort zone. He gives her a soft place to land while doing all of that. He never tries to take her choices away from her (except when it comes to other men — but she’s down just as bad as him and truly doesn’t want anyone else) or control her. He just wants to be the one taking care of her and giving her everything he can.
Chloe cares equally as deep as Sig and offers him the kind of support he’s never experienced from a loved one before. She roots for him, she looks out for him in her own way, and she appreciates him for who he is. He provides a lot of perspective in her life eventually as well, and the response she has to it is such a wonderful growth moment for her.
Maybe I read too much romance (is there such a thing?) because I didn’t really think the whole step-sibling thing should be *as* big of a deal as it’s made out to be, but with their positions in their respective societies, I found a bit more understanding for it.
I have thoughts about who will have books coming in this series, and let me just say, I can’t wait to see the rookies brought to their knees over some badass women.

Tessa Bailey is writing a stepsibling romance and I am putting it on my tbr purely for anthropological reasons wtf lmao
Also making this a Valentine's release is wild
This woman must be stopped -
I swear to god, this book is going to ascend me to the next plane of existence because I’m already obsessed with Sig & Chloe😍😍😍
———
Un-fucking-real! I’m obsessed. I love Sig & Chloe so much!!! This was full of angst, sweet tender moments, so much protectiveness. Ugh! My “good girl” tally came to 6!!! Ahhhh! Literally melting.
I hope and pray to god we get a fun book next with Corrigan( 1/2 of the Orgasm Donors rookies) and Skyler, a female professional softball player! Ahhhhhhh!
More to come but Jesus I love this series so much! -
WHAT ARE YOU DOING STEPBRO????
-
First let me start by saying when I read "the Au Pair Affair" I knew that these two were destined to get their own story, and Tessa Bailey DID NOT DISSAPOINT. In the Au Pair affair, Sig and Chloe's characters were teased justtt enough to get us hooked and want to read what the heck was going on between these two. I will write my full review when the book releases as I don’t want to give anything away, but this is a MUST READ for my hockey romance lovers!
Thank you to Avon and HarperCollins for gifting me an ARC to review. I am honored that I had privilege of reading this story 4 months early because this interconnected series has become one of my favorites of all time. Truly cannot wait to read the next in this series - I know it will be just as hilarious and spicy.
This book had me kicking my feet laughing on so many occasions. Dare I say it’s my favorite in the series so far?! I am HYPED to read about the “orgasm donors” (IYKYK) in future books! -
I recently saw a reel on instagram from dylaansreading where he was talking about potato chip books, saying “you don’t have to have a gourmet meal to enjoy what you’re eating” and that was EXACTLY how I felt about this book.
Tessa Bailey is queen of the fun, entertaining, a little bit outrageous, but very steamy romance. The chemistry with these 2 was off the CHARTS, and I absolutely flew through this book. The step sibling conflict I didn’t care for too much, but I’m not counting that against the book in my rating because it’s very clearly in the synopsis, and I knew what I was getting into when I picked it up. It didn’t take away from the entertainment factor or the couple’s chemistry in my opinion.
This book hinted at 2 others in this series in the hockey realm, and oh my GOODNESS I am excited. I also just realized Burgess and Tallulah already have a book, and I’m reading that asap. I definitely recommend this if you’re looking to gobble up a steamy page-turner potato chip book.
Thank you to Avon/Harper Voyager and NetGalley for the ARC! -
A step sibling romance by tessa Bailey say less 🙃
-
netgalley I might owe you my life for this arc
I had the time of my life with this — I’m a simple girl give me a man who is obsessed and I’m seated —needless to say Sig met my criteria
I just know people are gonna hate on Chloe but they have no right because let’s be so fr we all wanna be her
overall yes highly recommend -
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for the ARC in exchange or an honest review
I would recommend if you're looking for (SPOILERS)
-m/f contemporary romance
-insta attraction
-forbidden romance
-friends to loverrs
-mutual pining
-sports romance
Tessa writes instantaneous chemsitry so well. I was immediately pulled in to the meet cute and then the sloooow burn of the story as Sig and CHloe attempted to keep things platonic. Sig was such a cinnamon roll and just so obsessed with her, not just to take care of Chloe but to help her gain her own independence.
Chloe was such a fun FMC. A bit bumbling having grown up so privileged and so protected from the world but also desperately clawing at living her own dream and not anyone else's. While definitely a romcom the struggle between love and living their dreams was really poignant and added just the right level of angst as these two fought that undeniable chemistry. Add in an adorable dog and this was the perfect escapist read I couldn't put down. -
Each book in this connected companion series is fire 🔥 I loved Sig and Chloe’s story.
Tessa has this way of writing down bad men that needs to be studied and then taught to real life men. It’s that powerful.
I’m crossing my fingers she lets us in on Corrigan and Skylar’s story next???
Until then, I will read whatever she writes next. Thank you for writing impossible to put down books, Tessa!!!! -
This book is like a delicious dessert. Did I feel it was a wonderful reflection of the typical experience people have with romance? No. Did I thoroughly enjoy every second of it? Yes!
Chloe and Sig have an immediate and all consuming connection. Instalove doesn’t always work for me but Tessa Bailey wrote it so well I totally bought it. I loved watching Chloe learn to be independent. I also loved how much she cared about Sig. Her at his hockey games screaming at the refs cracked me up!
If you hate instalove or taboo elements this might not be for you. I personally appreciated the pining the taboo element created since we all know no one writes pining like Tessa! I’m also really excited for the next book in the series which I wasn’t sure would be coming but it looks like it will be!
Thanks to Avon books for providing me with an arc! All opinions are my own. -
oh my god…this was a messy, sexy, jaw dropping read. like oh my godddd the title is so perfect because there is DRAMAAA and i was here for it.
the tension that was created because of the situation they are in was described so well i was sweatinggggg
THE DIRTY TALK brooooooo i can’t even. the things they said BEFORE they were even having sex had me shook. these one liners that had me gasping.
if you want to read about a sexy, mutually pining, instantly obsessed couple…THIS is the book.
yes, i was a little worried about the future step-sibling aspect but trust me it’s TESSA. BAILEY. she made golf sexy. i think she can handle anything.
guys. read this series! Fan Girl Down is still my favorite but this is my second fave in the series now because wow i had a great time. -
OMG I loved this. I knew I was going to love Sig and Chloe's story after reading the Au Pair Affair, but I truly didn't know how much I would love them. Their chemistry is OFF the charts, seriously!! Sig is up there as one of my fave Tessa Bailey MMC. He's fiercely protective (he's OBSESSED) but also does everything in his capacity to help Chloe grow as a person. I know going into this you might be like uh 'future step-siblings?' uh oh, but I promise Tessa will make all the angst, build-up, heartbreak worth it. This was so good, I could not put it down! I need the next two books in my life asap!!
Thank you to the publisher and Indigo for an arc of this book! All opinions are my own. #IndigoEmployee -
so freaking excited for this book! love this series so much and need more!!

I love hockey romances (despite rarely engaging with the actual sport), so I was more than excited to dive into this book. Things start off with a chance encounter between hockey player Sig and harpist Chloe at a country club. Instalove ensues, and everything seems promising until they find out they will soon be stepsiblings. Even after this revelation, Chloe decides to relocate to Boston and live a life completely financially supported by her now platonic friend Sig.
Honestly, the stakes are weird, and the plot is light. Mostly, there's the impending deadline of their parent's marriage hanging over them which (apparently) threatens to ruin both Sig's desire to become hockey captain and Chloe's pursuit of a first harpist position. The interactions between the two are more than flirtatious, but they remain just friends until, well, they don't anymore because this a romance novel.
While I have enjoyed many of Tessa Bailey's novels in the past, this one was just hard to connect with. Chloe is presented as more or less an alien with little or no understanding of how the real world works. Sig is a hyper-masculine caricature who is extremely overprotective and possessive of Chloe. This is going to work for a lot of readers and just happens to not be my cup of tea.
Many thanks to Avon and NetGalley for providing the ARC in exchange for my honest review. -
Um, gulp, wow. The will-they-won't-they levels here are just insane.
-
3.5. Yet again not my fave Tessa book, but I did like the way she used the step-sibling trope. Story had the pace of a novella and I didn’t love either of the characters but still a fun cute book.
-
I loved Fangirl Down so much. And while I didn’t enjoy Au Pair Affair as much, it was still a great time and an easy four stars. All in all, it made the entire series seem promising. But Tessa Bailey didn’t just give us a “good enough” book, Dream Girl Drama was the book dreams are made of!
I wouldn’t go out and say this book is insta-love, but it is insta-connection, and it was so damn believable too. That has everything to do with Tessa’s ability to craft palpable, flying off the pages chemistry between these two characters. Chloe and Sig were so memorable and unique - and I couldn’t get enough!
Was I expecting laugh out loud moments bordering on cartoonish comedy in the most delightful ways? Yes, of course. It’s practically a standard for Tessa. Was I expecting feral unhinged heat and spice? Without a doubt. Literally what would a Tessa Bailey book be without it? And was I expecting well rounded characters with a fun story that ended in a perfect epilogue that bookended everything in the most satisfying way? Absolutely, because no one does that quite like Tessa Bailey. But was I expecting angst that gripped you from the edges of your body inward, making you feel it in all of your pulse points and causing your heart to squeeze? No I truly was not, but, whoa, did we get delivered that in spades.
This was kind of a hard book to pinpoint. It was sort of forbidden love, sort of right person, wrong time, sort of taboo, but also not really any of those. But what it was, is perfect. A good time. A true “thaw the coldest heart, make you believe in love” romance. It was one of the best books I’ve read this year and I’ll be begging for scraps of Chloe and Sig’s life from Tessa Bailey until I breathe my last breath.
Oh! I would do illegal things to get Corrigan and Mailer’s books! Absolutely unspeakable things. -
sig & chloe >>>>
we got their crumbs in The Au Pair Affair and have to wait until february for their book GRRRR >:(((
let’s hope for ARCs to be released before then 😫🙏
