Win the hand of Fate. Fall into an endless spiral of betrayal.

Trapped in her brother's prison, Zora Vyner faces a challenge greater than the ruthless tournament she survived: heartbreak. Betrayed by Cristen and grieving the loss of her closest friend, she wonders if the price she paid for the truth was worth it.

At least, she got a crown from it.

The truth is finally revealed by her brother. The Vyners were once a rival to Estal Kingdom, ruling the Underground with an iron fist. But once Cristen's late father, the king, got wind of their growing strength, he had Zora's family hunted.

Now, she tries to relish the few consolations in her possession: the crown on her head, the empty palace waiting to be filled and the brother - perhaps more psychotic than she's ever been - finally returned to her side.

But her lust for Cristen Estal remains, no matter how many daggers she drills through hearts to eliminate it.

This sequel to Veil of Fate is a spicy, blood-lust driven dark fantasy romance that will have you SCREAMING at the page. No character can be trusted. Each carries a vengeance. It will be a feat for any to survive.

Heir of Fate (Fates of Mirror #2) Reviews

okay - it was not as good as the first one - but still a good book I'd say

it was like in the first book - they were enemies to lovers
but now they were kinda enemies to lovers to enemies to lovers HAHAHHA
sounds crazy - but it was like this

    the story summed up:

i dont really want to do quotes for this book
i will read the next book in this series
ill give it a rounded up 3 stars - it was not better for me

The plot is too convoluted for the books to be this short. There is way too much happening. Everything is rushed and it’s confusing and I feel like I’ve forgotten half of the plot points because it’s so overwhelming.

Criminally good and intensely told, Heir of Fate carries on the story of Zora---and it is a thrilling ride.

  • Jessie Basler

incredible idea for a series - but lacks depth, very minimal world building, and lack of character development or explanation

fun romance scenes but it’s rushed and lacks any true relationship bond

the series is simply major plot points, one after another, with no story line development - hence why the books are so short

the series could be truly great with a better editor and actual development to the world / characters. needs at least 30 more chapters each book to fully flesh out the story.

(I'm fully committed to finishing this series, and I'm already on page 134 of the next in the trilogy.)

TLDR: This series feels rushed and it moves very quickly and it's up to the individual reader if that's a good thing or not. I'm giving four stars because I'm invested and want to know what happens, and that's got to mean something. (If you're curious about the spice: it's not spicy. There's sex, but it's hardly worth mentioning.)

while I'm enjoying this series, and I recognize that there's a wider world that's going to be explored in depth in later installments in the universe, the story feels rushed; and I mean rushed in "the writer has this entire multiverse in their head and they needed to get out, get it onto the page, as quickly as possible before it slips away."

and I can see where their world building wants to go, how there's all these little tendrils and vines and creeping things hanging around in the book, there's lore THERE just out of reach that doesn't get explained or explored, just nodded to with a kind of "I'll be back for you" vibe but I'm on book three, and some of it's not been gone back for but not nearly enough, and I'm left hungry for it in an irritating way. Not in a "I'm fully committed to continue exploring this universe" way, but in a "sdklfjsdl;kfjsdlij" way.

I like the series well enough that I'm moving on to the next duology after I wrap up some other TBRs but it's kind of...begrudging?

and I deeply understand wanting to just get as much of the story out as possible before losing it because I've done that too. but it's leaving me a little....grumpy, I guess. I never expect the first book in a series to be thorough with the back stories and world building, but I do expect those things to flesh out as a series goes on.

This series isn't doing that in any satisfying way. any fleshing out of the broader world is kind of glossed over, the MC never gets to really bite into anything because it's on to the next catastrophe so quickly that it's just a whirlwind. There is no downtime for her. I don't expect a happily ever after for any of the characters and I went in knowing this was grim dark.

It does have the promised "touch her and die" and "female rage", but...The FMC is literally _only_ her rage until book three. Any glimpse of her beyond that is dashed quickly.

Wars of Fate is a great continuation of the trilogy!

There were some punctuation and grammar errors in the text, which I’ll chalk up to the fact that the book is newer and self published. It feels more like an Easter egg for being an early reader.

The story is more fleshed out by now, you get a better sense of the world in which they live. Different plot points are coming to a head which makes for some annoyingly binge-worthy happenings. There are many moments that make me laugh out loud, and many moments that make me want to scream at the pages. Hoffman writes some strong characters and does a great job with highlighting their individuality with great snippets of dialogue.

Sometimes this series leaves me wanting more details and wishing the books were longer, however the shorter nature of the stories makes them easily devourable. I am on the edge of my seat waiting to see how the trilogy will end…

My only bone to pick with this book is that it felt like too many contradicting things happened in 1 -2 day, which felt super confusing and irritating and like I was given whiplash. This is a book I like, but don't love.

    I LOVE Zora.

I sometimes love Cristen and sometimes find him to be too self-deprecating and a little fragile. I don't like that he doesn't give her the whole truth up front, it gives Xaden vibes from the 2nd book and that behavior from Xaden was one of the sole reasons I rated that book so low, so it shouldn't surprise me or anyone else that I don't love that theme. Zora has time and time again proven that she is more than capable of handling her own. She is the furthest thing from fragile. So just tell her whole truths, my man.

Anyway, I am enjoying the series. It feels short, which IDK how that makes me feel but it is what it is.

Oh. My. Gosh! I cannot even begin to tell you how many times I was casually reading along and then 😱 too many jaw dropping shock moments. Deception here and deception there. Bronze! Savin! Who the heck is Artos Null?! POV of Zora and Cristen this time which was a nice treat. More insight into anchors and visions of fate. Just a *hint* of 🌶️…. 🛁 🤫
The cliffhanger was INTENSE this time! Must… keep… reading!

    🤩 favourite highlights:

    “F*ck fate” - Cristen

Too many Fates in one place is practically asking the cosmic universe to send a comet straight towards us - Cristen

Thanks for the enlightening pep talk, but I think I’d rather go mope in my chambers” - Cristen

“Beneath this mask, I’m a royalist, honey. I was f*cking there for it” - the Devil

    Lies and more lies

So much is going on. There is a forced marriage, deceit among the fates, a fallen kingdom, and one under attack. At the very end of it all, Zora and taken by A. Null ending with the cryptic message of him taking back what is his. I am anxious to find out what this means. Will Zora be able to save her brother.. or has he sold her out again? Will Zora make it back to her husband to her land? Will she eventually join the outliers or use them for her own gain? There are so many possibilities

I am really enjoying this series. The character development between the main characters and where their story line is progressing is really intriguing. I am liking the lovers, to enemies, to building an actual bond. The world building and the visual aspects are also great for me. I like the way magic us used when it comes to glimmer magic as well. Definitely moving onto the next book.

    4⭐️ 1🌶️

Not gonna lie, I’m still a little lost as to the magic system and how everything works. But these books are fast paced and have my hooked. The whole back and forth, I hate you/I love you with zora and cristen is starting to get a little trying. But again, I’m still here and reading so obviously it’s hooked me and is entertaining.

    wowzers

This was action packed and stressful. I wanted to shake the FMC and the MMC a few times to see if the wires in their brains would magical connect. I pushed thorough and it was worth it. I immediately downloaded the next book because I have to know what happens! We've got magic, war, bada$$ FMC, tall dark and handsome MMC. All in one book what more could you ask for.

  • Mumma Moon

Definitely felt a bit like a plot filler getting ready for the mind blowing finale of book three, lots happened, the plot thickens and a few twists and turns, definitely not as mind blowing as book one, but still read this in one sitting (and majority of book 3👀)

Really loving the dynamics between characters, who’s good? Who’s bad??? What does fate decide??

  • Fayth Whicker

I am rating this a 1.5. The potential is there like the first book, but the lack of world building and plot is killing me. The romance feels so forced and where I like a fast paced romance this feels like they were thrown together and not in a good way. I feel like this series could easily be a four to five star read if it had that little more umph to it.

    Fates of mirror

I like how it picks up where book one ends. I like all the extra added details to answer questions from book one. I love the action and the details it gives to making the world come to life. I enjoyed the romance heating up and then disappearing at just a heartbeat. I can't wait to read book 3!

  • Thea Dietrich

I have truly enjoyed this story

I can’t believe I have come to enjoy reading so much… I truly enjoy reading now. So many amazing authors to explore. Jinapher thank you for your story and I can’t wait to continue to this story to the third book. I hope you have given us a happy ending!!!

  • Sarah

    meh

    Null is confusing af
Also I am still cringing at cristen asking for a protector? Like where are your balls DUDE???
    Freaking ew
Zora dora is getting annoying, refusing to admit feelings and for what? Ya got married anyways to the loser????
This screams indie book but unfortunately I will be reading the next one

  • Pau

still confusion. *insert the "i was rooting for you! we WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU' meme* Acho this magic concept couldve been so great like pq no abundó massss. y este love story>????? este cabron, like fuck that guy. y also esta tipa like fuck she doesnt catch a break-

  • Shannon

While there’s no real spice, the story is getting better. I still don’t think Zora has displayed much feminine rage, and I hate that she’s not very willing to try. A lot has happened and I thought she was smarter that she’s being. I am happy though that there’s finally a dual POV, much needed.

  • Lauren Jutze

Book 2 just as good as book one. The B a n t e r ! Omg I’m obsessed. He doesn’t give any cares he wants her and he takes her. She won’t admit she loves him but he teases her through it. She’s grumpy he’s sunshine so cuteeee

  • Mindy Newdiger

    Good for a quick read

This was a good book for a quick read. It was action-packed and had just the right amount of romance to make you want more. I enjoyed the cliffhanger, which is an ending as well.
