Punished By The Beast is filled with all of my favorite tropes...stalker-ish, mafia-ish and kidnapping. You know when you just need to read a short, filthy and easy story that doesn't make you think too much? You're just able to read and enjoy the smutty goodness of two people crashing into each other and falling for each other despite their reservations or prior plans? This is that book. It's not overly thought provoking or emotionally draining but it does pack enough of a punch that I'm curious about the rest of Julie's books.
Katarina meets a mysterious man abroad for a program and ends up being kidnapped by said man who has a plan in place for her. Stefan has been keeping tabs on Katarina and intends on using her to end a blood feud. But of course what starts out as just a means to an end quickly evolves into something neither Katarina or Stefan expected.
I liked Katarina and Stefan but I did find their interactions a little juvenile at times. Katarina stayed true to her character but Stefan seemed to lose some of that morally gray hero attitude I loved by the end. I enjoyed the air of mystery throughout the story and the smut was pretty good. Overall, a decent read that I'm rating on my smut scale. -
Damn! This was a scorcher! Definitely dark, the hero manipulates the heroine and arranges events so he can kidnap and keep her as a captive in his castle. But his obsession takes him where he never expected, putting her first. I really enjoyed this one!
Safe. Hero’s past isn’t mentioned at all. Heroine is a virgin and belongs only to her hero. No others, cheating or sharing. Some gore and violence (not against heroine) mentions of murder and blood feuds. HEA with epilogue. -

Katarina is in Romania after winning a scholarship unaware that what she has really won is to be the revenge for her father’s sins, a father that she had never met. Locked in a castle with a man that is dangerous beyond anything she has ever encountered before and one that she is drawn to in a way that she had never dreamed existed. He wants to break her but she is determined to escape him but with each encounter she has with her the man who has kidnapped her and locked her in his castle she finds herself falling under his spell. Will Katarina escape from Stefan’s clutches and does she even want to?
Stefan has planned taking Katarina for years, she has been his obsession for as long as he can remember and for as long as it counts, but he is bound by a blood feud and the promise that he made his father. But finally having Katarina in his home he is finding it harder and harder to keep that promise. What he really wants is her all of her including her heart to beat for only him but with his enemies trying to close in and take what he values will he let her go to keep her safe or is revenge more important than love?
I loved loved and loved this book I didn’t stop reading until I was done. Both characters were all encompassing and you just had to find out the ending to their feud and a love that was more epic than even they realized. This was like no mafia book I have read before though. Highly recommended 5* read and I loved it so much I had to buy a copy too. -
This is certainly a very good book to read. If you love dark Mafia type stories, with insta love and lust then this is certainly will be right up your alley.
Stefan has waited ages for this chance for his Sweet Katarina to finally come. He is sure he is his enemies daughter he just has to prove it by DNA test. He promised his father he would get revenge, but hes not like his father. After spending time with Katarina he has fallen in love, but she is determined to go home. Theres an old saying if you love someone let it go and hope it will return, and that is excactly what Stefan has to do.
I just loved these characters especially Stefan he really was a lovely hard man with a good heart in the end. -
Stefan (H) has manipulated, kidnapped and imprisoned Katarina (h) with plans to force her to be his in a blood feud revenge against her late father. The attraction between the two is instantaneous and super hot. Katarina wants to fight against her attraction for Stefan and he wants to fight his feelings for her and keep his eye on the need for vengeance. She wants to be free and he wants to cage her in his Romanian castle. The sex scenes are very hot, steamy and dark, but oh so good! Have got to try some chocolate with my whiskey!

Julie Thorn has written a quick dark and dirty novella that will give you a quick escape into a dark world full of heat and spice.
This has the enemies-to-lovers, mafia, and stalker/kidnapping tropes.
If you are looking for a book you can read in a couple of hours but want it to be good, give Julie Thorn a try. Is this my favorite I have read of hers? No, it's not but I still enjoyed it. I'll be looking for more Julie Thorn books because they are a perfect quick read I can get lost in when my time is short.
Katarina is in Romania to spend time learning about the country to finish her doctorate. After a chance meeting with a sexy dangerous man, she looks forward to getting settled. When the car sent to collect her contains the man she was both drawn to and afraid of she fears for her life.
Stefan has been waiting for Katarina since he was 12, over the years he's had his men reporting on her and keeping others away. She was always to be his, it was always her role to end the blood feud her father started.
Katarina is now Stefan's captive in Brasoveanu Castle and can't believe all that he has told her. She has never known her father and hopes that Stefan is wrong about her lineage and he'll let her go. He has no doubts though, now it is time to punish her for the sins of her father and give his family honor.
There is a problem, though he should want to ruin her and make her miserable he softens when she is around him and finds he wants her for more than revenge. His revelation comes too late and Katarina is put in danger, if he keeps her she will always be in danger. No matter how much he wants to keep her forever he has to let her choose if she really wants to be with him.

I loved this dark and steamy novella! When Katarina goes to Romania things do not go as planned - she meets Stefan and that begins our hot and steamy novella.
Stefan is more than what he seems on the surface and although this story in his perspective was originally about revenge his heart definitely thaws for our FMC. I loved watching these two come together
This book is perfect if you want some fast paced steam! -
Wow! I just loved Stefan and Katarina. Stefan kidnaps her because of who her father was and wants punish her for the sins of her father. But the instant attraction between them has those plans in question. .

This was…interesting.
The story was a bit stilted, and underdeveloped. It felt like there were a lot of dark and steamy promises of what he’d be like sexually, and then…he wasn’t.
Also, overuse of exclamation marks. It got noticeable and old, giving a layer of cheesiness to the whole thing. -
Each book keeps getting better! I am forever obsessed! On to the next I go 😂

This is a good fast story with the right amount of heat and suspense that pulls you in fast with each line of the tale.
Barely have your feet on the ground, Stefan kidnaps Katarina when she arrives to study abroad. An old feud Stefan is holding on to had him looking for revenge, but instead he finds a woman that takes his breath away.
Hot fast ready that was easy to get lost in.

It's pretty Ok. Wasn't nearly as much sex as you need to call it a smut book. The darkness level was also lacking considering the title. It's actually a very tame book.

This is a dark and steamy story written with great detail. I really liked Stefan's character. He was perfect for this book. Katarina wasn't exactly my favorite but I didn't exactly dislike her either. But oh my goodness at the naughty parts of their story. Very hot. The story has a good plot and it didn't feel like anything was left out even though it was only a novella. .
