Aurelia Castillo has spent her whole life looking to the stars. She's looked forward to her first day as a Pilot for years, and it’s finally happening. Her commission is on the newly chartered starship, the S.S. Paradise. Only her new Captain turns out to be a grump who thinks she has no business being a part of his starship's crew, even though she flew through flight school with flying colors. It doesn't quite feel like a paradise when your boss hates you and you're millions of light years away from the only home you've ever known. Until suddenly, he's not looking at her like she's less, but rather, more...

Captain Sylas Kellar didn't see it coming. He didn’t see her coming. Not the daughter of his childhood icon, nor his attraction to her. And he shouldn't, shouldn't want her. It’s his first command as Captain, and he really doesn’t want to screw this up. Not when he has to prove himself to the world. But he can't resist the tension between them, and the ever-constant close proximity between them has him losing his mind. Which begs one what happens when he gives in?

In a world beyond the stars, can the two find a love that will last a lifetime?

I love a good space romance and this one was so fun!! Aurelia gets a spot as a pilot on a spaceship that will be in space for five years. She immediately butts heads with the grumpy captain who doesn't think she's competent enough for the spot since she just graduated flight school. She's not afraid to stand up to him, though, and they slowly develop a friendships that leads to more.

The setting of this one was so fun and I loved how forced proximity it was since they literally could never escape each other. We see Sylas be brooding and grumpy and slowly lower his walls as he is falling for Aurelia, even though he doesn't want to. We get plenty of steam and also emotional moments since Aurelia lost her dad so a space mission and Sylas and his sister were left by their parents.

The ending was adorable and I really hope we get more books in this world!! If you want a hate to love sci-fi romance with a hero that reminded me sooo much of Chris Pine in space, pick this up!!

I like sci-fi and I like romance. This book has both, so I think it's a win-win for me.

  • Caroline | BooktokEnthusiast

DNF at 46%, sadly. I really wanted to like this, but I have to throw in the towel.

This had a really interesting premise imo: a romance between a spaceship captain and his subordinate (grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, slight age gap, the heroine is the daughter of the hero's idol, etc.), but this really fell short for me. There is so much insta-lust (bordering on insta-love) that I was super bored. The main characters are obsessed with each other immediately; there's no tension or banter. The couple is lusting over each other from the beginning, and I felt like they didn't even know each other.

I also wasn't into the overall plot enough to care about continuing. The FMC is in search of her father who has been missing for 10 years, but every decision she makes is awful. The FMC's decisions are starting to make her seem TSTL (too stupid to live). Every decision she made which led to her getting stranded on this planet was so impossibly stupid. She comes across as a bit cocky, entitled, immature, and stupid. She's also horny at the weirdest times.

Meanwhile, he comes across as a simp, but like, not in a cute way (in an eye-roll way). He basically threw away his entire career in a few short chapters for a younger woman (who makes stupid decisions) who he thinks is hot.

    3.5 stars!

this was cute - it’s a sci-fi, workplace romance where they’re stuck on a spaceship for a five year long mission together - my kind of forced proximity.

i wish this gave a little more slow burn + tension and build up but this is a quick and cute read to get in the fall mood

he falls first you will always be loved by me

    SAFE
    ——
Con el romance siempre soy: Monogamia!! Matrimonio!! Familia!!!

A Love Beyond the Stars is a futuristic, sci-fi romance that takes place on a starship between a captain and his first pilot! This also is a forbidden relationship, age gap (10 years), and has grumpy x sunshine vibes!

Aurelia graduates as a pilot for the United Galactic Space Federation when the story starts and she’s so excited when she gets assigned as a pilot on researcher mission to the outer reaches of space. She’s excited to follow in her famous, pilot father’s footsteps. She meets Sylas, captain of the ship she’s assigned to and they have banter right from the start! This cute read has a ton of micro tropes: “there’s only one cave”, she’s the daughter of his childhood hero (he even has a photo of him on his wall growing up), caretaking scenes, they adopt an alien animal, he calls her “little star”, she wears his clothes, no one can sit in his chair but her!

He’s a bit of a stubborn grump at first and she’s a bit of a brat (which he calls her often)! This is set in the future (3051) but it doesn’t feel like it, I kinda wanted it to lean more into sci-fi and futuristic vibes but that’s just my sci-fi loving heart lol! He fall first and tries to push her away before eventually giving in. Lots of spice and steamy times, which did take me a bit to get into, but they’re such a cute couple in the end! The cover and art and all the buzz words definitely sold me on this one and the read was both adorable and spicy!

I received an ARC, all thoughts in this review are my own!

EVERYONE!!! STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING!! ANOTHER JENNIFER CHIPMAN BOOK JUST DROPPED!!!

A Love Beyond the Stars by Jennifer Chipman is an adventurous sci-fi romance between a starship captain and his head pilot. I devoured this book in one sitting, I couldn’t get enough. It has amazing plot, fluff, spice, and lovable characters!

Aurelia is our smart and headstrong pilot that graduated top of her class and seems to be able to do everything perfectly. She is following in her father’s footsteps who is infamous among the space community. Her father went missing on a mission when she was a young girl and hasn’t been found since. This has pushed her through her schooling and kept her motivated - that she can maybe find out what happened to her father and his ship. Aurelia’s grief is talked about a lot and I love that the subject of grief was discussed so openly and rawly.

Sylas is our grumpy, muscular, and equally stubborn captain that has abandonment issues. He immediately doesn’t like Aurelia and tries to get her kicked off the starship before the mission begins. She proves to him that she’s worthy to stay, even though it’s her very first mission. There is delicious tension between them as they start a 5 year journey through the stars with their crew and are forced to work in forced proximity of each other.

    -age gap
    -grumpy x sunshine
    -sci-fi romance
    -captain x head pilot
    -“little star”
    -spicy AND fluffy
    -forced proximity
    -tending to wounds
    -he washes her hair
    -space alien pet
    -on a starship
    -forbidden love

I rated this a 4.5/5 stars and a 3.5/5 spice! So dang good and highly recommend if you’re usually a romance girly and wanting to test the waters of sci-fi. Can’t wait to see where the S.S. Paradise series goes! ✨

    ✨ARC Review✨

First and foremost, I am in love with the cover and aesthetics of this book.

This book was cute. And if you're looking for a cute, quick and easy read about space lovin' then this will be perfect. But for me, there were a few things missing.

Everything (plot, characters, developments) started off looking pretty promising. I was intrigued and ready to see what was going to happen on this 5 year mission. I think in my mind this was going to be some romance with action packed mystery and I just think I read the room wrong.

Aurelia was chasing a dream that was inspired by her father. She wants to know what happened to him 13 years ago and she wants to live out her dreams in honor of him. I liked her character. I thought she was driven and smart and loved that she was just ready to seize the day.

Sylas was the grumpy Captain who was grumpy for all of two seconds. I wasn't buying the whole "he's mean and looking to ruin my life" act. I think he was just as soft as every other character in this book. I did like him but I wasn't in love with him.

Together they were cute but I couldn't feel a connection or spark between them. It just felt like the forced proximity of the plot was the only thing making these two work. At times, it was cringe and corny and I was a tad underwhelmed.

For 5 years on a ship together, they start this relationship rather quickly and the relationship/character developments felt a little too fast for my liking. If you don't care about that then you have a super cute romance book! If you want more depth, try something else.

I love a book with spice, but I feel like we may have had more than we needed? Like, it felt too much at the most random times...

Towards the end, I was getting a little bored. I think it's because I wanted more action in this plot. Aurelia's father storyline could have been built bigger or we could have gotten more suspense with that. There was an opportunity there for sure.

But again, this was strictly a romance book about their romance. Totally fine, if that's what you are looking for!

I wanted to be obsessed with this like I am with the cover but sadly, this fell a little short for me. I do think it was cute at times but a lot was missing for me that I personally would have liked to see.

We do get cute otter dogs...so take that for what you will.

"...'Cause sometimes I look in her eyes and that's where I find a glimpse of us..."

I loved this book! The romance is very good, hate to love kind of

Sylas Kellar, the man that you are and don’t even know it 🤭

The relationship between Aurelia and Sylas was very cute, sweet, caring, and spicy. The little ‘sci-fi mystery adventure’ was also fun.

The ending was very endearing 🥰 I want the books of the other characters already, for yesterday please!!

The only thing that took the .5 rating of this book from being a 5 star, was that sometimes some of the phrasing threw me off, I was reading very invested and then at some parts I just got stuck a little by the phrasing of some scenes, but nothing too bothering, just some tiny bits

300 ish pages isn’t enough!! I NEED more Sylas and Aurelia!!!!

thanks a lot for the advance copy!

i've never really read a sci-fi romance before, but i had to give it a chance because i enjoyed jennifer’s other books. it was a little different from what i'm used to, but i still had a great time reading it.

aurelia has just graduated from flight academy and has been given her dream assignment - a five year mission on the s.s. paradise. it'll follow a similar path to the one her father disappeared on years ago, and she's hoping to finally get some answers…

sylas is not so happy about her new role as head pilot. the s.s. paradise is his dream too - he's finally been named captain and doesn't want anyone to mess it up for him. he's very much attracted to her at first but tries to fire her anyway, claiming she's too inexperienced. luckily, she manages to change his mind, and they all set off on their space journey together.

the small quarters and an impromptu trip to a mysterious planet create a turning point in their relationship - they finally act on their feelings for one another and have a great time (especially when they visit a certain cave…).

i thought their relationship was cute, but i wasn't as connected to them as i would have liked. i did like the forbidden romance elements, though - it made the story really interesting reading about them sneaking around together for little stolen moments.

the romance was definitely the main focus of this story, but i wish there was a little more action. it would have been nice seeing them all work together as a team. i also wish we got some more answers to the big mystery - it just got a little overshadowed by sylas and aurelia's relationship.

i would still recommend this book, especially if you're looking for a cute, quick, and easy read that's both sweet and spicy!!

My little nerdy, Star Trek loving heart was ecstatic when Jennifer Chipman announced she was doing a love story on a spaceship! This story was such a fun journey! The way that the ship was described along with space, made me feel like I was on this 5 year mission with them!

Sylas and Aurelia got off to a bumpy start with their first meeting but the chemistry between them was undeniable. Sylas carries the burden of protecting everyone on the ship along with being the captain they need him to be. It is strictly forbidden for officers to be in relationships with each other. Unfortunately, he can’t get his head pilot, Aurelia, out of his mind.

Aurelia has lived her whole life for this moment. She is finally a pilot of a ship heading into deep space for a multi-year mission. Aurelia is keeping some secrets from everyone. She will do anything to find out what happened to her father whose ship never returned home. She wants to be the best pilot she can be, but that’s not easy when the Captain of the ship hates you.

The spice in this book was literally out of this world. Sylas and Aurelia could not keep their hands off of each other. I love the “forbidden romance” trope and this book did it really well! Spice level is a solid 4🌶️, so make sure you apply some SPF before reading this book so you don’t BURN! 🤣🥵

🦦🐶PS: Brina is hands down the cutest little alien I’ve ever read about, I desperately need to see some character art for her!

This was super cute & fluffy and I really enjoyed how fast paced it was. I love a grumpy x sunshine story & how they’ll completely go from an absolute grump to completely soft & head over heels for the fmc & that’s exactly what happened here 🤭

I definitely wasn’t expecting this book to be as spicy as it was 😅 some of the spice & dialogue were a bit cringy in some parts & there were some inconsistencies with the plot imo. I do wish there had been more tension between them since their relationship was meant to be forbidden, I hoped there would have been a bit more angst but that’s just me. I also felt their adventures were a bit too “safe” & wish those parts had been a bit more “high risk” since space is supposed to be dangerous & unpredictable.

Overall, I really liked the concept of the story the author was trying to tell & I thought this was good read!

After a run-in in the beginning of the book, Aurelia is quick to take her stand against the grumpy, a hole captain of their starship, Sylas. But not all is what it seems, because when I tell you that he becomes gone for her, he is light years beyond where I thought he would have been based off first impressions. He is a teddy bear that loves to put his brat into place, and when the spice hit, it really hit 🥵 The story was cute, but not fluffy; I usually cannot do sugary sweet. There was a sad point to the plot I was not expecting, but overall this was a really fun, different ride of a book that I highly recommend! 💫

Aurelia Callisto just graduated from flight school and gets assigned to fly the S.S. Paradise where she meets grumpy af Captain Sylas Keller. They have a not so meet cute but there’s no denying the instant attraction even when it’s forbidden. On a 5-year mission to explore space and in close proximity no less, lines are sure to be blurred.

This book is a freaking gem.. or one of those rare galactic space crystals. 🤭 If you like Star Trek but thought it needed maybe a bit more romance, this one is for you!

This was a cute and spicy read! I loved all the characters, the alien-pet creatures, the side plot. The tension between Aurelia and Sylas was scrumptious—I ate it up. They are the definition of grumpy x sunshine and boy did he fall hard. They were opposites but complemented each other well. I love that he could be sweet (only for her), knows and anticipates her needs, and was willing to do anything for her. They both have their baggage and I love how they came together and made it work. And the epilogues?? Truly a star-shooting blessing when you just want your characters living life and having a happily ever after. 🥹💖

As I was reading, I was looking for clues on potential next couples, so I hope there will be more books! 🤞🏼

Did I mention that the book itself is beautiful?? I am so impressed and it’s clear Jennifer put a lot of thought into it. I was freaking out every time I turned the page. From the cover to the dedication, the playlist, chapter opener layout, and even the paragraph design thingy with the space ship—I am obsessed!!

first of all thanks to the author for sending me the arc and give me the oportunity to read the book before hand ♡

I ABSOLUTELY love the concept of this book of traveling to the unknown and discovering new adventures. Like it is such a bittersweet feeling and I absolutely feel as if I’m experiencing everything the characters are feeling. Plus, who wouldn’t love a sci-fi book about space exploration and going on a new path that humans have never gone on before 🥲. Plus, I loved the alien creatures they came across 🤭. And as always, you can count Jennifer Chipman to write an amazing love story with the perfect spice. I highly recommend this if you love boy obsessed, a grumpy MMC, sci-fi vibes, age gap, and forbidden romance. Sylas is absolutely obsessed with her as soon as he lays his eye on her and hates it 🤭. I hope she turns this into a series so we get the side characters stories 🤞, and hopefully we’ll see more of the five year journey.

    Favorite quotes/scenes:

“I don’t know what’s out there, but I can’t wait to find out.”

“What do you think we’ll find out there?”
“That’s part of the excitement, isn’t it? The adventure? The not knowing?”

“She was enchanting, magnetic, drawing me to her like a moth to a flame. Like you couldn’t help but look at the stars each night.”

“Do you find the view beautiful, Captain Kellar?”
    “Very.”
But I wasn’t looking at the flowers.

“She laughed, and the sound was like an arrow to my stomach. A shock to my system. Because I was quickly becoming greedy for her laughter, and her smiles. I wanted to hoard them, all to myself.”

    “Captain—”
“Sylas. Call me my name, just this once.”
    “Sylas.”
    “That’s my girl.”

“You’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever laid eyes on. Too good for me. Too young. Too bright.”
“You don’t see it, do you? How good you are. How warm and gooey you are on the inside. You try to hide it, but I see you. How you interact with the crew. How much you care about your sister. You’re good, Sylas Kellar. And you can’t convince me otherwise.”

“She was exactly what I needed. Her smiles and her laughter filled a void in my being that I hadn’t even known existed before.”

“So what are we doing, little star? I’m at your mercy here. Whatever you want, I’m yours.”
    “I want you.”
    “Thank fuck.”

“I was caught in her spell. Entranced. Totally fucking taken by this brazen woman who was sunshine incarnate and yet the biggest brat I’d ever met. Talk about duality.”

    “Little star…”
“Why do you call me that?”
    “It’s dumb.”
    “No. Tell me. Please?”
“I can’t hide anything from you. It’s because you’re brighter than any star in the sky. Because I look at you, and all I want to do is orbit around your presence. Because you’re my star, Aurelia Serena Callisto. And I never want to look away.”

“I love you, Aurelia. I hope you never forget to stop looking at the stars. Because I’ll be here, watching over you.” 😭😭

“Does this make you my boyfriend?”
“That was not what I expected you to ask.”
“Needed to lighten the mood somehow.”
“Yes, Aurelia. I’m your boyfriend. Or whatever the fuck you want to call me. I don’t care, as long as I get to call you mine.”
    “I’m yours.”
“Good. That’s all I’ve ever wanted.”

    “What’s wrong?”
    “Nothing. Just missed my girl.”
“Aww. You’ve gone soft on me, Captain.”

“Part of me was always upset that my father would never know the man I would marry one day. I knew that he’d never walk me down the aisle, but this…But he knew you. And without even knowing, he put us on the path to meet each other. I just…”
It was like we were meant to be.

“I wanted someone to look at me with that much pride. To love me the way your father loved you.”
“Oh, Sylas. You don’t have to wonder. Not anymore.”
    “Oh?”
    “No. Because you have me.”

“There was no protecting my heart anymore. It was hers. Completely. I wouldn’t let her go. Wouldn’t let her run away from me. Not anymore. Not after this. And if she fell? I’d be there to catch her.”

“You could ask me a million times over, and I’d say the same thing. You’re my everything, little star.”
    “Are you sure?”
    “Yes.” He didn’t even blink.

“Aurelia wasn’t just in my senses—she was in my bloodstream. In the very essence of who I was now. I needed her like I needed oxygen to breathe.”

“A smile slipped over his lips. A big, beautiful, genuine smile. One that was worth every star in the galaxy. One I would do anything to keep on his face for the rest of our lives.”

“I love you. You’re worth it. You’re worth every risk. You said you can’t be the reason I lose my dream. But that’s where you’re wrong, Rae. My dream isn’t the federation, or even being captain.”
    “It’s not?”
“No. It hasn’t been. Not for a while. You’re my dream, Aurelia. Being with you is everything I could have ever asked for.”

“I had my entire world in between my arms. I’d never trade it, even for the entire galaxy. After all, I’d found a love beyond the stars. And that was worth more than anything in the world.”

Thank you to Jennifer Chipman for giving me the opportunity to be an arc reader for this new release & providing me with this reader copy of A Love Beyond the Stars in exchange for an honest review! 🤍

    Overall Rating: 5/5⭐️
    Spice Rating: 3/5 🌶️

Having read some of Jennifer’s works previously (very few in numbers, but nonetheless enjoyable for me,) I was BEYOND (pun intended) excited to sign up for this arc and be a part of the few to read this book before it’s release - as someone who grew up watching star trek over star wars & would literally kill to be in their own galactic space romance, i was more than ecstatic to read this one! The vibes & tropes and even the personality of the characters when were introduced to this story stood out to me so much, I KNEW i just had to read this book.

I have so much to say about this book, but in simple words, I LOVED IT! I can’t think of any other modern/contemporary-ish romance-esq books that have this sort of token sci-fi / galactic star ship setting that just makes it so enticing and unique! I absolutely adored that not only did it focus on sci-fi elements such as planets, galaxies, aliens, worldly exploration, but that we got to see relationships onboard the space ship & we got moments that were focused on romance and mystery, nostalgia and remembrance of the past while also seeing that emotional side of Aurelia and her missing father & the story behind that. I found myself getting emotional and teary most when it came to the parts of aurelia’s passion for the stars & the important role her father played in becoming who she is. as someone who’s close with their father like she was - i can feel though the screen just how important and defining his role is in her life. This book was overall a super beautifully & well-done written mix for me and I loved every part of it.

Aurelia & Sylas as the leads to this novel were absolutely amazing and i loved reading their story & getting to journey through soace (and navigate their relationships) though their eyes. Their chemistry was immediate and only intensified. I loved watching Sylas open up & get comfortable with Aurelia, even with “disliking” her at first (we all know he didn’t) and trusting that she was meant to be there. He’s soft for only her and i both love and respect him so much for that, and definitely trust that in any universe & lifetime, they would’ve found each other.
Aurelia is so bubbly and headstrong, and knows exactly what she wants and will do whatever she can to do whats right for herself & her team! I loved them together so much, everything felt so natural and genuine with them through the pages. They complemented each other so well and I can only dream of having a counterpart like that! AND THE SPICE! their intimacy was out of this world (pun very much intended) and i sure love a man who knows how to take care of his woman!!

Everyone should definitely go out and get their hands on a copy of this after release day, especially if you’re one that loves a little sci-fi shenanigans, the cutest little alien otter-dog pup and a mysterious adventure with your romance!

DNF at 52% unfortunately. I would recommend this to others it just wasn't for me.

I liked the main character but I personally didn't like the love interest, he did some nice things but overall I hate when grumpy is just code for unnecessary asshole. He's also a bit of a hypocrite and that's such a pet peeve for me. Like he assumed she was handed the postition because of nepotism but it's okay for him to make his sister his second?? I was really confused on what the actual reason was that he didn't want to work with her and basically treated her like dirt for no reason? I think it was explained but I still didn't get it. And he can't stop being an asshole when she looks so vulnerable? I kind of hate him.

I didn't really connect with the romance at all it felt like there was no chemistry just lust more than anything. Every single conversation was the exact same so I didn't care that they were bonding I was just bored. And don't even get me started on "Because once I start, I won't be able to stop" 🤢 why is that always in books? Giving major r*pey vibes and I hate it. It is possible to convey how much he wants her without him saying things like that. And PSA you can stop whenever the fuck you want to and you shouldn't be with someone who thinks or says otherwise🩷

There were some really funny terms and sentences. Like what is medium-skinned?? I have never heard that in my life I even Googled it and couldn't find anything like that. Just describe their skin colour, are they black? Tan? White? Even bronze will do. And other things like "Tattoos that I wondered if spread from his arms down to his hands" that made my brain glitch.

Now while I didn't really enjoy this book for the most part I did really like some things. I thought the depiction of grief was really well done and I really liked Aurelia's POV. I loved the way the crew was notably balanced in terms of gender. Usually it's however many men with one maybe two token women but this was well balanced. I liked getting a peak at who might be paired up in the next books, I'm really interested in the other characters so I'll be reading the other books that come! There's also a great group of girlfriends and I think if that had been the focus instead of Sylas I would have eaten this up but hopefully we get more of that.

I just found I wasn't inclined to pick up the book and when I did I was forcing myself to keep going which is so disappointing because I really loved A Not So Prince Charming and Yours Truly. But please keep in mind I only read to the halfway point so this is only based on the first 50%, I can't speak to the last half and I really don't think there was anything inherently wrong with this book we just didn't vibe.

THIS BOOK, Sylas and Aurelia 😭🫶🏼 “Holy wow” as Aurelia so nicely said. I didn’t want to put it down but also didn’t want to finish it! Their relationship is the cutest, the way they get obsessed with each other and the fact that this is out in space makes it so much more exciting. I absolutely adored reading their relationship growing, their banter and the connection they had with the rest of the crew. Although I teared up a few times, this was overall such a feel good book.

A massive thank you to Jennifer Chipman for this ARC, I thoroughly enjoyed it!!

Some of my favourite scenes / quotes:
🤍 “Mom-tuition”, this is something my mom definitely has too!!

🤍 “I’d bounced between friend groups, never really finding where I belonged” - A. This is so relatable

🤍 ‘, rolling my eyes at her shit-eating grin’ - S. This has me howling ahahah

🤍 “She was enchanting, magnetic, drawing me to her like a moth to a flame” - S. Aurelia also said “And that was the same magnetism that drew me to him, like a moth to a flame”. Which is so cute, that they thought the same thing

🤍 “She was everything good in the world - like a shooting star, lighting up the night sky - and she didn’t deserve to have my darkness taint that” - S

🤍 “Not like the girl in front of me, who gleamed like every star in the sky every time she smiled” - S

🤍 “Even the stars pale in comparison to you, Aurelia” - S

🤍 “… loving the way her hair spread out around her like a halo. An angel in the heavens. My star in every galaxy” - S

🤍 “It’s because you’re brighter than any star in the sky. Because I look at you, and all I want to do is orbit around your presence. Because you’re my star, Aurelia Serena Callisto. And I never want to look away” - S, on why he calls her little star

🤍 “I didn’t pull away. Not until she did. Because someone taught me once that you shouldn’t let go until someone else did. You never knew how much they needed that hug” - S. Reminds me of the Disney rule!!

🤍 “Aurelia wasn’t just in my senses—she was in my bloodstream. In the very essence of who I was now. I needed her like I needed oxygen to breathe” - S

A: my little pilot, Rae, little star, baby, brat
S: my secret teddy bear, babe, captain muscles, my grumpy captain, sir
    Brina the defender 🥹🫶🏼

Wow this book was so so fun! It’s only the beginning of September and I’m ready to name it for my favorite of the month!! When I first saw another bookstagram post about ALBTS, I ordered it immediately. I love unique romances that aren’t quite like the day to day we see. This story reminded me a bit of the 1998 Lost in Space movie if it was a spicy romcom instead!! In the future year 3081 we follow the grumpy Starship Captain Sylas Keller and the newly graduated First Pilot Aurelia Callisto and boy do they knock heads right away. Sylas refuses to have a new recruit on a five year long mission in space and Aurelia is also too stubborn to give up on her dream and a shot to know what happened to her lost Father. They both have their reasons and don’t realize how similar they are. Of course attraction is strong and Sylas falls first and hard. They fall into a hidden relationship since fraternizing with the crew is forbidden. These two are also balancing a five year mission, Aurelia looking for her long lost father and stowaways from alien planets. This is a wonderful store with adventure, loss and grief, found family and definitely romance. This is a must read!! Not only for the story but this is the first time I’ve seen two epilogues and a bonus scene at the end that wraps up their story so so well. I’m always sad when romance books close with that happy ending, like damn I would like to read about that happy ending and Jennifer gave that to use!! Thanks girl!!!

P.S. “Little Star” is my new all time favorite book nickname!!

Welcome to the year 3000, they don’t live under water and there are no Jonas Brother albums, but there are grumpy starship captains and stubborn head pilots! ALBTS… welcome to the favorites list for 2024. I know all you fall girls are starting up your Fall TBRs but pause and let me influence you to add another book. This is not one of Jennifer Chipman’s fall books but it deserves to be moved up on your list. Although her Spookly Yours book was already next up for me, now I’m even more excited because I fell in love with her writing as well as Captain Sylas and Brina… I love otters. I would take a Brina over my own starship captain thank you very much.
