More than anything, Arizona Condors first baseman Greg Bartlesby wants to make his own name in the big leagues. Too bad being the son of MLB legend Jake “Big Man” Bartlesby makes that impossible. Even worse? His attempts to differentiate himself from his old man more often land him in legal trouble. His latest brush with the law brings him in contact with an attorney he’s met before — as a dancer at the club where he was arrested...for protecting her.
Jenn Simpson isn’t a stripper—not that she can convince her bonehead client her twin is the one doing the dancing. When Greg offers her sister a job at his father’s Foundation, Jenn is the one who accepts, at her sister’s urging. She soon discovers she likes the work—and her new boss. As she and Greg forge a friendship and more, she knows it’s time to convince him she’s not who he thinks. But when his father's hospitalization compels Greg to fast-track his leap to the majors by capitalizing on Big Jake’s fame, it might be too late for her to come clean.

I rounded to 4 stars, but I kinda only felt 3.5. There were quite a few times I saw this: majorMajor leagueLeague. This drove me nuts. It happened every time I came across it. At first I thought it was an error, but seeing it every time made me think it was done intentionally. It just didn't make sense to me, and I'm still trying to figure out why the author did that. Overall, the story was engaging and I enjoyed the characters.

Greg Bartlesby is the first baseman for the Arizona Condors, for four years running he has been known as the best brawler. At Twin Peaks he got into a brawl with a frat boy, but he knew that it was a bad idea, the reason for the brawl is because that the frat boy was disrespecting a woman. Twin Peaks is a strip club where Jade works and is the woman that the frat boy was disrespecting. Jennifer was running late for work, when she got there she was told that Mr. Stull wanted to see her. Mr. Stull introduces her to Jake Bartlesby, Mr.Stull wants her to go to court and get Jake's son off the hook by showing cleavage and leg to Judge Wyndham. When Jennifer met with her client Greg he thought that she was Jade from the club. She tried to tell him that she had a twin sister, but he didn't believe her, she went into the court room expecting Jude Wyndham but instead they got Jaqueline Troxler because Wyndham had a medical emergency. Troxler gave Greg 1,000 hours of community service to be completed in a years time. He goes back to Twin Peaks to see Jade again, he thinks that being a stripper is no way to live. He came up with a idea, he told Jade that if she needed a second job she could come work at Bartlesby Foundation. Jade of course said no, when she got home she called Jenn and told her that her admirer cam back to the club and thought she was Jenn. So Jessica came up with a plan to mess with his head a little bit, Jenn would go to the Bartlesby Foundation and take him up on his job offer. Jenn didn't want to but she did it anyways, she was given the job as assistant to Greg in doing the annual toy drive for underprivileged kids. Jennifer and Greg come up with a really good idea for the underprivileged kids. Does Greg every find out about the switch?
Greg got arrested again for starting a brawl, he doesn't want to get out from under is fathers shadow. Treating a woman right is the only thing that Greg and his father agree on. Greg's real name is Jacob Gregory Bartlesby II, his family always call him two. Jennifer is a lawyer, when she goes to work at the foundation she finds herself really liking it. She doesn't like to spend money on expensive clothes, when you can get the same stuff at cheaper prices. She has a twin sister Jessica's stage name is Jade, she seems like a very caring person and she doesn't date her clients. Jake Bartlesby is Greg's father, owns the Bartlesby Foundation.
While reading this book I felt happy, I laughed out loud. One of my favorite quotes is “ So help me, if you apologize for kissing me, I will stab you with the scissors that came with my new desk set.” “ I wouldn't dream of it.” I also loved how the characters all went together.
This is my first book by Arlene Hittle and it definitely will not be my last. It's a very fast paced story, I couldn't put it down. I read this book in less than one day! Arlene is a very talented author!!

This book is about a first baseman and a set of identical twins. Greg meets Jade at a strip club defending her honor against a grabby frat boy. The cops are called and he is taken down to the station for questioning. The next day he is told to be in court. His father a legendary third baseman gets him a lawyer. She meets Greg in the court house a few minutes before they need to be in court. When he sees her he thinks it’s the girl from the strip club, Jade. Its not it is her sister Jenn. He doesn’t believe her when she tells him this. He just thinks that she is saying it because she doesn’t want anyone to know what she does to pay off her student loans. Greg is sentenced to 1000 hours of community service. He goes back to the club that night to see Jade again. After closing she walks to her car and it won’t start, Greg offers to help and tells her that he can get a better second job and his father’s foundation. Jess tells this to Jenn and Jess thinks it would be funny to mess with him a little. So she tells Jenn she should go and act like she is Jess. So Jenn does except she really like the idea of working at the foundation. Greg still thinks she works at a strip club. Jenn takes the job and gets to know Greg better. They start to see each and really like each other. When is a good time to tell him that she isn’t Jade the stripper. How will he react when he finds out? Will he still want if she isn’t the sexy confident stripper and just a lawyer with body issues?

I really liked this book. It was funny and romantic and sexy. Greg struggles with all these emotions about his relationship with his father. He feels like he is always in his father’s shadow and can’t find a way to get out from underneath it. Jenn is sweet and really like Greg. She wants to find a way to help him. They have great chemistry. The book was very well written and the characters were engaging. I will defiantly be reading the other books in this series. Greg’s dad was funny too. He has this overly manly way of dealing with Greg. Almost like if he irritates him that Greg will do what he wants. He calls Greg Two all the time which Greg hates. They respect and love each other immensely but they don’t know how to tell each other and father and son how they feel.

This story was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review.
Greg Bartlesby is a gifted baseball player, so was his father Jake. So much so that Greg has always felt that he is living in his father's shadow, that he never achieves anything on his own merit. Greg acts like your typical rich playboy, he parties hard and he enjoys a variety of different women. On this night he gets into an altercation at a bar protecting a dancer named Jade. Imagine his surprise when said dancer becomes his attorney to help deal with the issue.
Jenn is the attorney, and Jessica her twin is the dancer. No matter how many times she tries to tell this to Greg he is stuck in his belief that Jenn is the dancer and after time she no longer tries to correct him. Greg is sentanced to community hours at his father's charity organization and Jenn becomes his assistant.
Soon it becomes apparent that Greg is not just a pretty face and he and Jenn embark on a relationship. Oh, oh secrets are being kept , identities are confused. This will not bode well for a long term romance. She means to tell him, really she does but life just gets in the way.
Jenn and Greg are great together, he allows her to have some fun, to live her life a little bit, and she in turn reigns him in, while at the same time strengthening the fragile relationship that he has with his father. The sex between them is frequent and quite steamy. They are both seriously attracted to each other and enjoy each other sexually very often.
I thought that this was a great read. It was definately a fun filled story and the pages flowed nicely into one another. I felt angst for Jenn as she waits and waits for the perfect moment to confess she is not really the dancer and we all know it is going to cause a large blow up. Greg does an awesome job of stepping up and becoming a great business man while still keeping baseball his number one priority. I don't know why but I am a sucker for a good sports story. The heros are typically just so very yummy to read about. It was a great clean story and I enjoyed it from the very first page. I would rate this story a 5/5. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Sliding into Home is the third book in the Love & Baseball series by Arlene Hittle. The bantering in the beginning was funny, since Greg thought Jenn was a stripper. The mistaken identity all kind of happened by accident, and I can see the appeal of keeping up the charade and pretending to be someone your not, but I think she should have told him the truth sooner. I would probably always wonder if it wasn't the sister he was really attracted to, since that's who he saw and made the offer to first. In the long run, it would mess with my head as much as his. This is the first book in the series that I have read, and it stands alone just fine. It was a pretty cute romance, and it made me want to read the previous two books in the series.

Sliding into Home by Arlene Hittle was kindly provided to me by Wanderlust Book Tours for review. The opinions are my own.

For some reason that escapes me, while I'm not a fan of the rock star romance, I love sports romance. Both center around some sort of celebrity, both have tons of skanky fans all too eager to sell their souls for a few intimate moments with the star, then you get the egos and sense of entitlement. Why one works for me and the other doesn't is a mystery. I think Sliding Into Home's hero Greg, may hold a bit of the answer. And it comes down to perception. Mine, his, the fans, heck the world in general. The whole story is based on Greg's perception of himself, his father, his relationship with Jenn, and how he wishes to be perceived as well. Am I getting to Zen? Ahhh, well, I'm in a mood.

    2 Stars

Sliding Into Home has all the earmarks of a lightweight, comedy-of-errors romance that unfortunately doesn’t deliver what it promises.

I've read all three in Ms. Hittle's Love & Baseball series, and this one is by far my favorite. I loved the fact that Greg is trying to outlive his father's reputation (which happens a lot in baseball, or any sport) and come into his own as far as his baseball career goes, becoming the man he's capable of instead of the bad boy brawler. Jenn is smart, but I loved the fact she would turn on the "sassy" side of her and play the switching twins prank on the unsuspecting Greg.

Ms. Hittle's wit shines through in all her stories, and like she says, "love is funny". It certainly can be, but besides the humor, she also includes some hard-hitting (pun intended) problems faced in life. Her books are easy, fun reads well worth taking the time to enjoy. Always a "happily ever after."

So, are there any future All is Fair in Love and Baseball stores to be told? I'm a sucker for outfielders...they are so much fun to watch in left field...from the rear. And we haven't seen a pitcher yet. Will definitely read more of this author is she chooses to continue the series.
