  • Sylvie Gold

A great basic introduction to George Washington for preschool through primary grades.

  • Laurie

Fun to read after we went to Mount Vernon. Like the fun facts.

  • Jennifer Brown

Another informative book about our first president. Gave key words that you should know the definition for and pronunciation for some harder words for the younger kids.

  • Alyssa Durant

This National Geographic edition of the life of George Washington is full of facts. Most of the book just talks about his life but there are several fun and silly facts posted on the side like, "George Washington owned more than 30 foxhounds during his lifetime"

I think this is a quick and fun read with simple sentences and fun pictures. I would love to have this book on my shelf because of how informational it is!

I read this to my kids in response to their lust for Hamilton. I figured we could make it a learning opportunity, but alas, there are no biographies on Hamilton quite young enough. So I went looking for books about his compatriots. This offered a fair amount of information on George Washington, targeted at an early elementary level.

  • Brooke Birchler

This book is perfect for children who like to read informational text. It's also a perfect book for children studying George Washington. I really liked that they have a "words to know" section for children who may not know certain historical words.

  • Erin Brown

This was another mentor text used for our Nonfiction reading unit with my 2nd graders. The kids loved this book and loved getting to learn new to them information about our country’s first President!

Nice: sometimes too summarized, and sometimes . . . just right!!
