But intrigue turns to lust when he discovers Lindsey’s biting, snarling passion more than matches his dominant side. It might mean a chance at love for a cop in black leather and a wolf in Gucci loafers.

You know the term "so bad that it's good"? Yeah, that's this book.
I couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculous sex scenes. The cheesy one-liners were epically bad. The story actually wasn't half bad and I really liked Lindsey. This one wasn't quite as stupid as the first book but it was close. I had way more fun with this one though.
And yeah, I will most likely read the next one too. Hopefully it will be just as ridiculous as this one. -

At last I managed to get my hands on Tara Lains second book in her Harker Pack series and it was so worth the wait. This series is turning out to be a really enjoyable, fun shifter ride with some really likeable, and loveable characters who help make it the engaging read it is. Lindsey, the half human/half Werewolf was one of the supporting characters we met in the first book, The Pack & The Panther, and I loved the teasers we got about his slightly camp personality then. I was dying to see where Tara was going to take him and who she was going to pair him up with romantically and was hoping it would be somebody who would give him a bit of a challenge! Woohoo! I got my wish granted with hot cop Seth Zakowsky... Complete opposite and sexaaay as hell! Yum thanks Tara, you nailed it again!
Lindsey Vanessen is everything I love about this type of character. He's über rich, stunning, vivacious, stylish, exuberant and dryly witty. Everyone is "Darling" and his clothes are expensive and swish... but all that hides a male who, even though he may look effeminate and 'soft' on the surface, is actually all man,"Grrr"and growl beneath it, because Lindsey's secret is that he's human BUT also half wolf. Perhaps not quite as strong as his full wolf pack mates and friends, and lacking in some of the enhanced Wolfy attributes, he still isn't someone you'd want to mess with on a dark night! But then there's the fact that however confident and Diva'ish he appears to be on the surface, he's also carrying secrets around that if found out could cause him trouble with a capitol T! Poor Lindsey, is caught between worlds, on his shifter side, he's coping with the fact that being gay and part human he's never really been fully accepted by his wolf peers who until his best friend Cole (their Alphanta) came out, never accepted anyone being gay in their community. Apart from Cole, who's married now to Paris the sexy pole dancing panther ( OMG!!! still drooling over Paris! Rawr!), finding another gay shifter is practically nil. Plus he's also unable to tell any humans, including his family, about his wolf half for fear of retribution from the wolf community, whose laws prohibit humans from ever finding out they exist! Not easy, yet he juggles the two sides of himself pretty well. Another problem he has, is finding a lover who can match him between the sheets! Lindsey is a top through and through, he might look effeminate, but in bed his wolfiness wants out and he has to fight his dominant animal side with most of his human lovers in case he goes too far. The only one he thinks he could truly let himself go with would be another wolf but he knows that finding love amongst the pack will probably never happen. Until he meets an equally dominant lover, he's just coasting along.
Then one day he smells something pretty delish, and it turns out that enticing aroma belongs to the most gorgeous guy he's set eyes on for a long time. His complete opposite, all dressed up in leather and denim and leaning against a motorbike, he's all man! Dangerous looking, rugged, tall dark and handsome and, as it turns out, a cop to boot! But once again he's human!!! SO unfair for our poor horny, half wolf. As far as he's concerned that's another chance up the swanny. ** sigh! ** However fate intervenes and a couple of days later they meet in person when a dear friend of Lindsey's calls him for help after his daughter has been kidnapped.
His mystery guy swaggers in just as Lindsey is promising his friend that nothing bad will happen to his daughter, and before they're even introduced the sexy cop challenges him...
"And how exactly do you plan to keep that promise?"
Lindsey proceeds to tell him exactly how, then in his own camp way, introduces himself...
.......He extended his hand. "By the way darling, I'm Lindsey Vanessen."
The guy clicked half a smile, kind of like the one he'd delivered in the parking lot the other night. Lindsey still hadn't recovered from that one. The second might be lethal.
The man took Lindsey's hand. His was hard, hot, calloused as hell. "Did you work all that out in your pretty little head?"
Cue the mouthwatering sexual tension....
Because Lindsey is a prime target for the kidnappings and Seth is on the task force looking into them, it means that the two of them are constantly thrown together. Not only is Lindsey trying to fight his attraction to human Seth, his hunky cop, who is also fighting his own inner attraction to a ultra flamboyant, feminine man who is everything he normally wouldn't even look twice at, but there's also a vigilante granny going around saving the kidnapped victims and giving all the really bad guys on the street a run for their money. Then there's a sub plot with a really loveable, young foster kid, Jazz, who worms his way into both our guys affections complicating things even further. Let's just say all is not as it seems in this story in more ways than one and even though I guessed most of the outcomes, it was still entertaining watching it all unfold. This story was just as much fun as the last one.
The sex sizzles, the tension crackles and the plot snaps! I read it all it in one sitting, just like I did Cole and Paris' story and I reckon I'll be doing exactly the same with the next in the series. I just had one little pout, and that was because I kinda missed my slinky sexy pussy cat Paris.
I KNOW!!!!!... Its not his story any more but damn, that pole dancing pussy made a big impression on me last time and I was hoping we might see a bit more of him and Cole. If you haven't read book one yet then you're missing another treat! Mind you, that doesn't take away from the fact that I'm still feeling the steamy love for Lindsey and Seth. I had more than a few hot sweats with those two as well!
That Tara sure knows just how to tickle the taste buds with her beautiful boys!! Next please!

This story really did Lindsey justice. He was a standout character for me in
The Pack or the Panther and I was thrilled to see that he was getting his own story. Lindsey is a not all, not all human and not all werewolf. He's a study in contrasts afraid to let his guard down in many ways so he tends to indulge in meaningless sexual encounters. That all ends when he meets Seth, a rough and ready cop, with a strength that calls to Lindsey's wolf.
Sparks fly as the men battle for dominance between the sheets and tensions rise as a string of kidnappings pull the pair apart. This is a sequel but easily read as a standalone, IMO. Characters from the first book appear but never take over the story and the previous events are summarized without that info drop feel.
I enjoyed Lindsey's struggle between his human and wolf halves and his desire to cut loose and just let the wolf rule. Seth had his own struggles, focused mainly on his preconceived notions of what he finds attractive and how Lindsey challenged that and forced him to look beyond it.
Really, I loved Lindsey. He's a great shifter with a great story. He's fabulous. -
I can name on the fingers of one hand books I've finished reading and turned around to read them again: Flint by Louis L'Amour and Time Enough for Love by Robert Heinlein. This book joins their ranks. I loved it, and if I didn't have to write, I'd be reading it again right now.

This title is the second in Harker Pack. It's a Paranormal MM Shifter Romance Series and it can be read as a standalone or part of the series. The series revolves around Wolf Shifter Packs. There's a HEA like in all the books in this series and each book has different main couple though we'll see the main characters of the first titles also in other books of the series as side characters.
This was a reread of an oldie series that's been republished by the author herself this time around and also issued new covers.
Oh my! Now this is perfect werewolf + human romance for us!
The couple in this series, Lindsey and Seth, just wow. The Hot Stuff scenes in Lindsey's bedroom - Mindblowingly Hot! Scorching the sheets! And that spontaneous scene in the nature! There's what hot means! It's like the author invented the concept! 😍
The story is exciting and fraught with danger as there's a mystery to solve in the form of kidnappings. There's action, suspense, intrigue and surprises - besides that irresistable attraction the couple simply cannot fight, drawing together two dominant individuals who both need and want that kind of a partner they never found before.
Oooh and Awww ♥️
So well done. Everything wrapped up at the HEA end! So enjoyable. -
Enjoyed this so much more than the first book - Lindsey was a great character and I really liked him but he was so much more in this book.
Lindsey and Seth were a great couple and their story was not too angsty (not sure that's word but it works!) Also loved the side story about Jazz, very sweet kid. -
RED RIDING-HOOD
But, the cover is awesome! The plot was super hero (wolf in granny drag) over the top., with a lot of potential. I liked it, alot...but I wanted to love it. Off to the next book. Cuz, I do love this writer. -

Doesn't take itself to serious. Fun! -
This was a lot of fun! The characters were fun and the plot was interesting. Yes it could be just a touch cheesy but it worked for me. The alpha male human cop and the effeminate werewolf was unique enough and likable. Sometimes effeminate characters aren't really my thing but there were a lot of facets to Lindsey that I really ended up liking him. The romance is a bit fast but I've come to expect that with the whole mate thing and it didn't put me off. Looking forward to the 3rd book in this series.

4.5 Stars
After reading Book 1 in this series it was abundantly clear that Lindsey needed his own book and here it is!
Lindsey Vanessen is an enigma! He is a very wealthy socialite and tough businessman. He is an extremely flamboyant gay man, darling. He is athletic, willowy and full of hard muscle. His effeminate persona masks a total alpha .He wears purple Gucci Loafers. He is fabulous!
In contrast Seth is none of the above. He is a toughened cop who would like to see his work appreciated. The ultimate male in leathers riding his motorbike, he is big and muscular and looking for the same in his partner.
When the sons and daughters of the wealthy are being kidnapped and held for ransom it hits a little too close to home for Lindsey. These are his friends and he is determined to find out who is behind it. When a friends daughter is kidnapped he helps to arrange the ransom money and finds himself face to face with Seth Zakowsky, a tough cop assigned to the case.
Both men are hit by attraction but realise they can’t do anything about it for very different reasons. Lindsey is everything Seth dislikes in a gay man. A delicate, effeminate queen who sashays through a room, how could he ever introduce him to his work colleagues? Lindsey is half human, half wolf and when he fights or is sexually aroused the animal literally takes over. Seth leaves him very turned on so this is going to be a problem!
Tara Lain always gives us very sexy boys with complications and this book is no different. The sexual tension between this pair jumps off the page. Everything that Lindsey fears about himself is something that Seth craves in a partner but with their lack of communication they may never realise and satisfy each other.
If they can find out who is responsible for the kidnappings, get over their pre-conceptions and finally be honest with each other they may stand a chance. If you like sass, attitude and alpha males this is the book for you!
Re-read in September as Audio Book. -
I am a huge fan of Tara Lain and her writing. In fact, it was one of her books that turned me onto the m/m romance genre. So, it's no surprise that me, A GIANT SHIFTER fan, would latch onto Tara's shifter series. I totally fell in love with Lindsey from the moment I saw him, in Cole and Paris's book. I could see his vulnerability about being half-human, and I love it that he can confidently wear a lilac ascot. Not many men can get away with purple suede Gucci loafers. LOVE IT! I wanted him to get his own HEA in the worst way.
Lindsey has a few secrets, the least being he's half werewolf. I think, more importantly, the fact that he's masquerading as Super Granny to save people, is a bigger deal. And, one he sure doesn't want Seth to discover. There's been a series of kidnappings recently among the wealthier families. Lindsey, as Super Granny, rescues the governor's daughter, which puts him in the unfortunate position of introducing Seth around to high society in hopes the cop can get some clues. Uh. Oh. Seth revs all of Lindsey's buttons, and he always stays away from guys like that, so all his dominant wolf behavior doesn't appear. What will happen? Seth is all man. He's a cop, rides a motorcycle, is out and proud gay which causes enough problems in his job. The last thing he needs is to be involved with this guy who seems to prance when he moves. Yeah, that won't go over well with the guys.
It was incredible watching these two men realize there was a lot more to each other than just what's seen on the surface. And, seeing them fall in love was spectacular. Obviously, there was drama. I mean, wolves don't out themselves to humans without severe repercussions. Finding the leaders behind the kidnappers. You know, just a day in the life for these guys.
Loved this installment! Lindsey and Seth are smoking hot (my visuals of them are below), and, as always, Tara writes some killer sex scenes. Just what a girl asked for. Read it. You'll love it! -
My take: Lindsey had my eye the moment I saw (well, read) him in The Pack or the Panther, which was Tara's first foray into the paranormal. You have to read the first to truly adore Lindsey, but, oh, man will you fall for Seth. Seth is a cop (the leather-wearing type of cop) and has a "type." This type definitely isn't the beautiful wolf wearing the designer clothes and with the flamboyant attitude. However, Seth's libido has, well, other ideas. When Lindsey's friend's daughter is kidnapped, Seth is brought on to help, and when the two meet, sparks (and fur) fly. : )
What I loved about Lindsey was that he is all contradictions. On one hand, he embodies the gay stereotype and tends to utilize drama. Threaten those he loves, and his dominant alpha side rises to the surface and comes out, claws bared. Seth, though, is tall, dark, dominant and rides a motorcycle. His confession about his feelings for Lindsey just makes me adore him more. My only problem was that I felt this could have used another 50 pages to really pull out more of their romance and, of course, more of the pack dynamics.
Bottom line: If you are a Tara fan (or new to her style) and like gay men with dual sides, cops with hot dominant personalities and a whole lot of romance and steam, check out Wolf in Gucci Loafers.
Cardeno C and Mary Calmes' take: Take a strong half-werewolf and a stubborn human police officer, add in smoking sex and a fun cast of secondary characters, and then mix them together with an interesting mystery, and you get a very enjoyable read. Between the humor, the heat, and the romance, we couldn't put this book down.

This was fun fun fun…
I met Lindsey Vanessen in The Pack or the Panther and I loved the character then. So I was excited to read his story, and i wasn’t disappointed. This book was simply fun, sexy with a little bit of drama thrown in. This was strictly not one I had to think about at all, a nice enjoyable shifter book for those of us who love them. I probably could pick it apart if I thought about it more, but honestly I was happy for the escape and seeing Lindsey get his guy.
Lindsey to most folks is a rich, spoiled, scarf wearing, effeminate, calls everyone “darling” kinda guy. And upon first sight that is exactly how he appears to detective Seth Zakowsky. but Seth also is growing more and more attractive to Lindsey, and he worries more than once about how they will be “seen” together. What I love about Linds is he is so much more then how he appears “on the surface” to others. He is strong, loving, handsome and funny. And there is a bit of suspense in this story as well, someone is kidnapping rich folks and Linds is determined to find out who and stop them. And we have an adorable kid in this one as well. And of course i cannot forget to mention the heat and chemistry between Linds and Seth, OH MY Yes!!
A fun shifter escape! -
Love love love Lindsey!
I will admit that I stalked Tara Lain and practically begged for Lindsey's book. I loved him from the moment he first came strutting, or in his case gliding, into the Way Station in The Pack or the Panther. And I couldn't be happier with the result. The contrast between Lindsey and Seth couldn't be more plain. And yet I couldn't imagine two people more designed for a Happily Ever After.
Tara Lain can do no wrong when it comes to beautiful boys as far as I'm concerned. Equal parts sweet and sexy Wolf in Gucci Loafers is sure to please fans everywhere. -

Better than the first book
I liked this one better than the first book. I connected better with Lindsay and Seth. I like Lindsay as a character. The outcast but at the same time kind of grudgingly accepted by the pack. He is who is without apology, but what I liked most was the hidden depths. He wasn't a standard character and it would have been easy for the author to just have him as the flaming gay man, but she instead gave him hidden strengths that I really liked -
A fun Tara Lane story with hot sex, some interesting action and great characters. I loved Jazz!
-
So much fun, and I loved Lindsey! :) The sexytimes were a little over the top for me, but this story and the characters were a lot of fun.

4.5* I love Tara Lain's flaming boys! -
Superwölfchen in geheimer Mission
Cute and cheesy. Lindsey a half werewolf, half human is a cute, funny rich guy who is a all around great guy. Seth is a gay cop who comes in contact with Lindsey due to rich boy kidnapping cases. Seth likes them big and manly and that ain't Lindsey at all but boy do sparks fly when these two are together.
-
I found I liked this book better than the first in the series. Lindsey is a sympathetic character--the socialite with a social conscience. He's 24, wealthy and lonely. His family is very loving and he's got close friends in the Harker pack--notably Cole Harker--but he wants a life partner. Wolves are very big on mates, and Lindsey is unapologetically flamboyant, which is just not acceptable to his fellow wolves.
He'd settle for a human, but, well, rules of the pack state that humans can never know of their existence, plus Lindsey always wishes he could be the rough, dominant animal he hungers to unleash in bed and humans are...fragile.
Lindsey's secret isn't only that he's half-werewolf, he's also a vigilante. Super Granny has been policing the streets saving victims of mugging and attempted rape. Now, there's a kidnapping ring that's been ransoming children from Lindsey's country club and Lindsey isn't willing to sit onthe sidelines--not when Super Granny can save the governor's daughter!
In the mix of this, Lindsey meets Officer Seth Zakowsky--a rough-and-tumble motorcycle-riding expert on kidnappers. Seth is gay, but not interested in a "queen"--well, not at first. Lindsey is thoroughly attracted and knows full-well that a butch man like Seth would never accept him, yet Lindsey's throwing of attitude has the opposite effect. Seth sees him as brave and really admires Lindsey's athleticism and kindness. Seth had been raised in lower class life, and Lindsey's wealth is kinda off-putting, but the more time they spend the more Seth sees Lindsey's altruism, and the more he wants that man, despite the neck-kerchiefs and purple Gucci loafers.
There's some complications--not the least of which Seth uncovering one of Lindsey's two major secrets--and a rather big kerfuffle. Spoiler: two break-ups here, and both are settled by outside forces.
I loved Lindsey, and really enjoyed the pace and action of this book. There are really yummy smexytimes to enjoy. Plus, Cole was a great friend, and the intervention on Lindsey's behalf to create the HEA was Pretty-Woman-ish in impact. Plus, the stage is set for the homophobic issues that come up in the next book, WINTER'S WOLF. -
I actually liked this story better than the first in the series. I would give it a 4.5. This story picks up with Lindsay, who is a "half breed" that we learned about in the first book. He is flamboyant but athletic and smart. He is kind of a contradiction. I absolutely love his character. The book starts off with the vigilante (Lindsay) "Super Granny" who comes to the rescue for people who cannot fight for themselves. Pretty funny as you read! Then moves into an ongoing investigation of the rich being targeted for money through kidnapping and extortion. Lindsay is asked for support by the Governor and meets, Seth, specialist is kidnapping. Lindsay is immediately attracted and ends up working with Seth to help him gain entrance into the wealthy's world. Seth becomes attracted to Lindsay, but his look and demeanour are not what Seth is usually attracted to. Seth, a gay cop, is a little closeted and stereotypes more than a straight man. He ends up hurting Lindsay along the way, which makes me "hate" him through parts of the story, but learn to love him towards the end.
Lindsay also takes on a foster kid, Jasper, who ends up a "pure bread" wolf who is about to shift for the first time. This is a cute character and Lindsay's love for this kid is endearing.
This book is quirky, but cute and I love Tara Lain's books. They are entertaining and fun, quick reads. I start and don't stop until the end. I hope there is more in this series! -
In the beginning this book was way better than book one. There seemed to be more going on. But things started bothering me. First there is Lindsey in the beginning of the book fucking some other guy. I hate when that happens. In a book the main couple should only have sex with each other, not others. Than there is a blow out between Lindsey and Seth (and I'm totally taking Seth's side in this). And what is the first thing Lindsey does? Right...he goes back to the first guy he fucked in this book. He doesn't even try to mend things between him and Seth. Lindsey gets kidnapped on the date with first guy. And after he escapes, Seth and Lindsey make up. But they never really talk (like why would Lindsey be with another so soon). So all the non talking leads to yet another complication, when Lindsey is forced to reveal that he is a werewolf. All because Lindsay yet again decides to not talk but instead runs away from problems. It was tiring. So after the second break up they have Cole to set them up and make them marry each other. I think without this set up, the couple never would have come together. They don't communicate or fight for each other. How they are suppose to make their relationship work is beyond me. On the plus side the sex is much better than book one. More variation. Maybe that will be the key for a long and happy marriage for this couple. Lots of hot sex, no talking!

I received an advance copy of Wolf in Gucci Loafers for an honest review. This is Tara's second shape shifter book and as I noted with The Pack or the Panther, these books are somehow...sweeter than her Laguna Beach Balls to the Walls stories. Which may sound strange since people turn into carnivores and it seems the dominance fights can be just around the corner every second.
Yes there is anti gay sentiment but it comes in a weak second to pack politics, not to mention Lindsey's precarious position as neither fish nor fowl. He is too wolf to be human, too human to be fully wolf, and just too too to be accepted in either world.
Except he is accepted, because he has no intention of every hiding his magnificence under any basket. Yeah, he's rich, which is a great help in doing what he wants to do but he works his cute fanny off deserving that wealth and does all he can to help and protect all of his people.
I love stories about hidden strength, and non chest pounding Alphas. Particularly when the curtains rip aside and the real Lindsey is revealed for the complex, fascinating man/wolf he really is.
Yes, it's fantasy. Don't we all need a bit more happy fantasy in our lives? It's a fun read, and an easy read, and it has a forever spot in my Kindle. -
A much better book than the first one.
I liked reading about Lindsey. He's a complicated character that defies common classification. Seth is nice, and I was happy that he realized it when he made a mistake. -
I don't usually like effeminate men in my books but I really did like Lindsey.
Its a short book and like insta love but that's ok sometimes. -
While this book was FAR better than the first of the series, it still had the same pitfalls of the first. I already liked Lindsay from the first book, but he was a hot mess here, constantly flipping from one aspect of his personality to another, with seemingly no consistency. Seth was an okay character. I really liked little Jazz. Unfortunately, there was still a huge pile of inconsistency in the plot and characters doing stuff that didn't make sense, lack of flow, and a whole lot of spelled-sounds, like the infuriating Ahooooo!
The word "werewolf" is the only worldbuilding given, as it's assumed that you know how the world works and how it differs from other werewolf novels. Hint: it doesn't. It's unoriginal, in that all the wolves live in a contemporary world, with no difference between them and humans except the stuff you expect: they turn into a world, they run hot, they're highly sexualised.
The sex wasn't as bad in this book, but it was still a lot. The POV was just as inconsistent as book 1, which was multi-POV, while this was an unequal dual POV that didn't give Seth his first POV until well into Chapter 3. There was MORE attempted rape - a theme for the author, or just this series? I don't know, but there is ZERO warning about it. Oh, and I am so seriously SO SICK of reading "SHE-IT!" That is NOT a word. Just say "shit" for crying out loud! -
