Royston is reunited with his sister at last – and she’s married and expecting! He is overwhelmed with emotion, but so caught off guard when she questions him about his love life that he makes up a crazy story about a love of his own. Now he has to produce a fiancée in a matter of hours when they meet for dinner!
It had always been Miranda’s priority to avoid Royston at all costs. He might be sexy, rich, and powerful, but he was also intimidating and demanding as the CEO of her company. When Royston catches and questions her in his office, he decides she’s just right for the role of fake fiancée. She’s beautiful, smart, can think on her feet, and she has a spark that captures his attention in all the right ways.
Will she accept his real proposal to be his faux bride to be, and will their act become more than that?
The Tycoon's Make-Believe Fiancée Reviews

**1.5 generous stars**
I don't like being mean, but seriously this book was a joke. Yes, it was a free novella, I appreciate that and all, but it was a waste of my time. I can't stand insta love, but if the story is good enough I can get over that. But this wasn't even a good story. I'm very disappointed. :/
I thought it would be a pleasant chick-lit kind of story, like the old movies I watch on my tv at times. But this was just bad. I didn't like the writing, the fast forward scenes, just to get to the point. The point seemed too ridiculous to pass other scenes, it ended on 80% and left me with gaps. Like for example, his sister told to Miranda to ask him about his teen years, but we didn't see that happening. Meh. I'll hide the rest of my review, because it will contain spoilers. If you don't want to know, do not read.
I'm sorry , but this just wasn't for me. Maybe someone else would enjoy it more, but personally I wouldn't recommend it. -

Lack of epilogue will knock a rating down immediately. This author likes to just abruptly end her books with no look into the future
-no cheating
-no ow/om drama
-womanizer hero but you don’t see it on page, just mentions it
-virgin heroine
-very mild steam
-no violence
-no epilogue -
Sweet and lovely short story.

The fake engagement trope is not executed at all well here. This novella is just too short for the ground the author wants to cover, so there's a lot of telling instead of showing and the transition from fake engagement to real relationship is not believable even by romance novel standards. The writing style involves a lot of exclamation points and repetition of words. I think this is set in England, but there are enough American references that it's not entirely clear.
-
Royston and Miranda. Pretty comfortably predictable harlequin style story. Royston has reconnected with his long lost sister and can't bear to have her worry about him. SOOoooo he of course coerces a woman from his company to pretend to be his happy fiancee. Totally silly story line but entertaining with a nice HEA.

I can't say much without spoilers, it wasn't bad but the book is short and there were too many things happening too fast...
-
This is one of those books when you know the end before you begin but the characters are lovely and it's a nice easy read although it has to be said that it ended a bit too abruptly for me. I wasn't sure about Wyndi all I could think of every time her name was mentioned was K9's review of The Prince's Resistant Lover on amazon, she couldn't stop laughing over Wyndi working in a diner and wondered if she'd eaten too many beans, I never did manage to read that book after that review even though it was free.

I'm sad to end up giving this story a low rate, but I don't feel that I have any choice.
The overall story that the 'tycoon' has told his sister that he's getting married, to stop her worrying, and needs a 'fake-financee' to show was a nice idea.
The story moves along at a reasonable rate.
Unfortunately the end completely lets it down.
----- Spoilers -----------
We are taken through the 'make-believe' weekend, and the sister tells our heroine to ask about "his teenage years".
So far all good, as we know every little about his history.
The weekend ends, and everyone goes back to work without the question being asked.
Suddenly he's professing his love, and she agrees to marry him. And it stops!
We know nothing about his history, nothing about his change of heart (and neither does she).
I found this to be very jarring, and left me feeling that an entire chapter was missing.
Note: She does specify that it's to be a long engagement so that they can learn about each other, but we are left in the dark. -
I just love reading these short stories that this author writes. They are perfect whenever i don't want to read a big book and i just want to have something to pass time. I like how the author keeps them fun and entertaining and they always manage to take me out of a reading slump.
This particular story was no different of course! I enjoyed it very much i just wish the ending was a bit different because it seemed a little bit unrealistic. As a whole though i think it was very good. -

One tiny gripe which might not bother other people but...
This was set in London so I assumed the characters were English/British but American words were used “dollars” instead of “pounds”, “subway” instead of “underground” etc. I’m nitpicking but I can’t help it 😊 ... unless the characters were Americans in London and I missed it! -
This was just a quick modern fairy tale style romance that I grabbed up because the title caught my eye and I had never tried this author. It was free so that made it a win-win opportunity. I call it fairy tale style because it just had that type of feel to it as opposed to a more realistic tone.
It opens when Royston Carmichael is confronted by a long lost sister whom he thought was dead. She is newly married, expecting her first child and eager to see him happy.
Royston lost Wyndi when they were split up in the foster system after the death of their parents and failed at the one thing he had promised- to take care of her. Now the one thing she wants is to see him happy and he will give that to her.
Miranda is having a bad day and now it is worse. Her boss delegates the turning in of the big report which is late to the terrorizing company CEO who is exacting when it comes to punctuality and excellence within his business. She slips into Royston Carmichael's office to leave the report at his empty desk thinking she got a reprieve when he startles her from behind. His proposition shocks her to death.
Royston reads people well and he enjoys discomfiting the sassy beautiful woman
who he asks to pose as his fake fiancee. She got his attention when she gave him as good as he got, but she earned his respect when she didn't take him up on his offer of a monetary incentive. She is only moved when he shares about his sister. He can't help, but start making plans to seduce her because of the attraction he feels- and its all in the nature of verisimilitude for his story right?
It was a shorter and lighter piece that offered up a fairly diverting plot, attractive characters and a quick yet passionate romance with the expected ending. It is tied to another book by the author, The Prince's Resistant Lover (also free and should be read first though they work as standalones) which tells Wyndi and Tamar's story.
This worked for a nice lazy afternoon quick read and a change of pace. Those who enjoy a quick 'career girl/her boss marriage of convenience' plot should give it a try. -
I really enjoyed this book. Elizabeth Lenex is an excellent author.
I loved the banter between Royston, and Miranda. Just the way the two interacted with one another made this a fun read. Royston had just found his sister after years of not knowing where she was. He loved his sister, and would do anything to make her happy. The only thing his sister wanted, was to see Royston happy. To her that meant in a relationship. Royston needed a fake fiancé, and fast. He needed one before having diner with his sister that night....'
Miranda knew her boss fired people for being one minute late. She and her team had worked hard on the fiancé report, but it was going to be a few minutes late. Her office manger made her delivery it to the boss, because it was going to be late. He didn't want the boss yelling at him. So Miranda had to rush up to the office, and hope that the boss was out of the office for lunch. Royston had noticed Miranda in the hallways before. He never really had time to admire her beauty. For he was always rushing from one meeting to the next. Now she was in his office. He quizzed her. I loved her witty come backs. He intimidated her, but she would never let him know it. Royston was fascinated by this smart, beautiful lady. He knew this was the lady he wanted for his fake fiancé... now it was just talking her into going along with his plan.
I loved this book. My only complaint is, I wished it was a little longer. -
The book was too short to really appreciate the potential story line, which I thought was a good idea for one... I didn't dislike the story, but it wasn't the best Short Story I've read.
You knew because of the length of the story the love between the couple was going to be POW, and it wasn't bad... I enjoyed how they started off by giving you the idea that the main couple disliked each other and then as they got to know each other they found love.
But the reason behind Royston's lying and needing a Make-Believe Fiancee was kind of lame... but it wouldn't have been bad had the story been longer... then you would have been able to get into the Royston and his sister's lives a little deeper to kind of justify the lie a little better.
I would have also like to get more into the love life of Miranda and Royston, their relations was cute but their situation as him being her boss couldn't easily be fixed in the time the story had... which just left that part of the story to our imaginations and mine sucks. lol
This should have been a longer story, there was still so much more of it to tell. -
When Royston Carmichael was 16 years old he lost his parents to a car accident and his sister, Wyndi, was 6 years old when they were separated. Royston was just reunited with Wyndi and she is married to Prince Tamar Yarin and is expecting their first child. Wyndi is concerned about her brother’s happiness, so he lies and tells her that he is engaged to be married.
Miranda Lillith works for Royston in the financial department and had to take financial reports to Mr. Carmichael, who she thinks is very arrogant. Royston decides that he is going to use Miranda as his fake fiancée. After spending the weekend with Tamar, Wyndi and Royce, she realizes that she is falling in love with him.
This is a very short story but I think that an Epilogue would have really been since there were too many unanswered questions. -
ok in dont usually say this but that was just a complete waste of time. If I wasnt such a weirdo about finishing books I would've just laid this one down and moved on. Yea everyone loves to see a hot, dominant, rich man fall for the sweet, innocent, hard working gal but come on. This story just sucked all around. Wow I mean they fall in love and are now getting married after knowing each other 3-4 days!!! at least guve me something believable to work with here!
-
I really liked the character interactions. And I am not talking about the dirty parts..lol.. I will probably try other books from this author

It's a sequel to The Prince's resistant lover and it's an OK read, I really loved the borther sister bond and how just to ease his sister's worries Royston would go through a fake engagement, still I was looking forward to some moments in Wyndi and Tamar's relationship from her brother's POV.
Easy and Quick read. -
It made me laugh
Easy plot but it made me laugh and long for my Happily Ever After 😍. Miranda and Royston just met but when you know it, you know it. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve met but you’ll know if he or she’s The One 😉😊👍 -
I really wanted to like this more than I did. I feel like it shouldn't have been a novella and should have been a longer story. There were too many things left open-ended. What happened to him in his teen years? What was the tension between him and his brother-in-law? I kept wanting more details.
-
Its one of those whirlwind romance where you barely understand what is happening and by the time it all makes sense there's a happily ever after leaving you smiling at the end.
-
Light and quick
Fast and enjoyable read. Good to read before bed. Easy story to follow and a feel good one. Enjoyed it. -
Very good book.

Oh yeah. I forgot that this book follows
The Prince's Resistant Lover.
Hello again, Tamar.
I'd ask if you'd kidnapped any other naked women, but this book takes place directly after your story, so you wouldn't have had any time.
Wyndi finally gets to meet up with her long-lost brother, Royston, who had been told by the foster care system that Wyndi was dead, because he wouldn't stop running away to try to find her to take care of her. He doesn't believe her at first, until she tells him things that only she would know.
Royston is overjoyed to have her back, but Wyndi is worried that he isn't happy, because in the few pictures of him that Tamar managed to find, he was never smiling. To convince her that he's fine, he makes up a story about being engaged, and is stuck having to find someone to pretend to be his fiancee until Wyndi leaves.
I'm still not sure how he was expecting that plan to work. Wyndi would expect there to be a wedding at some point, because they're going to stay in touch. I mean, it all works out in the end, but still. I thought you were supposed to be this master planner, Royston!
After Royston decides to implement his ridiculous plan, we cut to Miranda, who works for Royston's company. She is offered up as a sacrifice to turn in some reports late, which Royston is notorious for despising. Her boss needs a scapegoat, because the reports were all of FIVE MINUTES LATE.
Anyway, rather than killing Miranda on sight, Royston asks her to lunch, and pitches his plan to her, because he likes the way she looks. Miranda refuses on principal, laughing at his offers to pay her to lie to his sister. Royston is even more impressed by the fact that Miranda won't let him tell her what to do, or take money from him.
He manages to sway her by playing on her emotions, telling her how he lost Wyndi through the foster care system, and she agrees to pretend to be his fiancee for a weekend, but only on the condition that if she thinks Wyndi will be hurt, she can shut the operation down.
He even respects her wishes to not act like they're in a relationship around the office, in case someone thinks that she's trying to sleep her way to a promotion.
Of course, pretend love gives way to real love, and the two end up actually engaged, after a passion-filled weekend and several whacky misunderstandings.
I liked this story better than The Prince's Resistant Lover. Mostly because Royston actually bothered to get consent from Miranda at every stage of their relationship. And while he was a demanding man, he wasn't overbearing or creepy, the way Tamar came across as. -
It's a quick romantic book that, in my opinion, has a comical feel about it. Its about this High business man Royston needs a fake fiancé to make his newly found sister. He asks this beauty that works for him to be his fake bride. Miranda is head strong and works for what she gets. Royston is surprised and please that they sexy beauty was smart as well to argue with. I did like this book more then its pre-descendent. This one seemed more put together.
SPOILERS!!!!
I really liked the beginning. It was engaging, and there was great dialogue. At times a little long but not bad. The lunch time scene was great. Always could use more details though. It went downhill from there. I only gave it a better rating because I thought this book was better written then the previous.
The weekend trip could have been elaborated. How often they have sex? What did they do during the day? What was Miranda's favorite spot? OR Royston's? Could have evolved so much more. You don't get to see them really fall in love, which I want.
I did enjoy the fact that Royston's sister figured out his ploy but only told Miranda. My biggest problem is that Royston and Miranda are very stubborn characters, especially Royston. Maybe if I'd seen more development of the weekend trip, I could understand the way he acted in Miranda's office. He is demanding, but he didn't have the pride or secrets that he keeps usually. We don't find out about his teen problems really. And so I don't really think he would just demand they marry unless I saw him act more in love with her, not just sex.
Maybe it's just me though. But I did enjoy the story line. Just wish the ending had more of a bang. It more flopped for me.
