The Journey of a Post Modern Missionary is the story of a traveler who, like all God's creation, walks the path of discovery, learning along the way where one "fits" in God's grand design. This journey begins on a farm in Arkansas, then winds its way through African, Asia and Eastern Europe. The author shares his experiences as he moves from pastoring a small church in Texas, to serving the tribal villages in the desert of Kenya -- finally traveling to over thirty countries, teaching others how to serve Christ cross-culturally.

The message of this book is that God DIRECTS, but does not dictate, the steps of man's journey through life. The insights of this journey are a guide for others to use in discovering their own niche on the journey through life, whether they are interested in serving overseas as missionaries, are committed to whorl outreach in their church, or are just looking for answer finding their role in lifel

I have a deep appreciation for just about anything that Dr. Lewis says or writes. When he was writing on a manual typewriter by kerosene lamp light in a hut in Africa, I read his newsletter and it helped form my current philosophy with regard to cross-cultural work. It helps to have some notion of working cross-culturally when approaching this book, but it is certainly not necessary. Lewis offers good insight based on experience and research that will be valuable to anyone living or working in another culture. I have read it several times and I Highly recommend!

    Great lessons for ministry

Dr. Lewis and his family's service is something any missionary, pastor or lay leader can learn from.

The stories told grab attention and the lessons learned come from these life experiences of a man who has trained many cross-cultural workers throughout the years.

He writes like he teaches, giving you the story and helping apply the principles to real life.

Highly recommended book for anyone interested in cross cultural Christian ministry.

Richard, our friend, gives a good biography of his conversion, early pastorates, work in Kenya among the Pokot, work w/ UWM at CIT, and some subsequent work. He ends with training & working in India, but he needs to give an addenda update on moving back to the US. His "niche notes" in each chapter as he passes thru his life are full of useful application for the modern student and new missionary seeking to be contextualized in this post-modern world.
