Really enjoying this series! I have to admit the second one was a bit tricky for me to read, but after reading this one, I realize now that it allowed the reader to get closer to the characters, introduce more characters, and allows you to get to know them a little more, which turns out to be great! The third one ties up some of the loose ends from the first and second novels.
I love the magical realism in this series. Nothing is too over the top that it isn't hard to believe or is too cheesy. Between this one and the second one; much more depth is added to the characters and their stories.
Gretchel, the book's main character, begins to stir up trouble her self as well as the Woman in Wool that haunts her. It's a very interesting dynamic between these two characters.
Much more is discovered and revealed in this book, and I found myself really getting a kick out of the character dynamics in this book. Some of the dialogues are interspersed with some really heavy/deep stuff that I think many readers can relate to. The relationship between Gretchel's past, her battle with alcoholism, and her personal battle with the Woman in Wool all portray an interesting dynamic and you really begin to see how deeply Gretchel's actions (past and present) have affected those around her.
The Diana--Peter marriage is a little confusing (I am not sure why these two are still together because they are such polar opposites.) Ame really takes charge more in this book, Eli on the other hand hope he figures it out!
Finally you are really left with a cliff hanger at the end, I'm looking forward to reading the forth book in the series. -
This book immediately picks up where "The Witches of Snyder Farms" left off and it sucked me in right away! I read this from start to finish on my three hour cross country flight--the cadence and action of the book makes for an intriguing read! Lenora Henson's work is permeated with magical realism! Great characters, compelling story and layers of symbolism that leave you begging for more! I can not wait for the next book!!!

I don't remember which friend recommended this but I love it! I grew up in that part of the US and it's great to read a fantasy set in a familiar area.
Great story... -

3.5/5
Don't get me wrong... I love this story, and the characters... it's driving me crazy! But when I think I will finally learn what's happening, it's the end of the book AGAIN.
I have to read the other one to find out, so, it's working, but it's a little infuriating also, I just hope to know sometime...
But maybe it's not about knowing, maybe it's about the journey... I do love all the family drama and transgenerational hereditary pain, repeated patterns... I would love to see the family finally heal, and can't wait to see how that finally happens, from the outside it could seem so easy, but these people are really suffering, it's unsettling being the outsider, I need to be patient.
I have to say, thank you Lenora for all the magic.
