“Sophisticated, contemporary, and worth every sip.”—Dan Buettner, Blue Zones founder and bestselling author
At Vedge, the award-winning Philadelphia restaurant that pioneered plant-based fine dining, Kate Jacoby, Rich Landau, and their acclaimed team have been elevating vegetable cooking—and imbibing—for well over a decade. They believe a good drink is an indulgent, multisensory experience worth savoring—and even better when paired with the right snack or small plate and enjoyed among friends.
Drawing inspiration from fresh produce and the rhythms of nature, the 75 all-vegan drinks, bar snacks, and small plates shared here are some of their most beloved creations, with imaginative flavor combinations you’ll find nowhere else.
Drinks that capture the essence of the season: Daffodil, Smoked Corn Silk Old Fashioned, Golden Apple
Fruity refreshers: Per My Last Email, Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, Strawberry Smash
Holiday party–worthy sips: Bury the Hatchett, Last-Minute Tradition, Old Acquaintance
Inventive riffs on old classics: Fig Leaf Bourbon Sour, Afternoon Snack, Front Porch Swing

Absolutely stunning, from the amazing plant based cocktails to the tasty bar snacks; from the lush photos to the witty text and lol drink names. This is a book I'm definitely buying for myself and for family and friends as gifts. A must-have!

As a vegetarian, I am always on the lookout for new cookbooks, and a plant-based cocktail book seemed intriguing. The Vedge Bar Book begins with the spirits, ingredients, and bar tools to have on hand, which is useful. There are also guides on glassware and techniques. Next are the recipes for Spring, Early Summer, Late Summer, Fall, Holiday Season, and Winter. Each chapter has 7-10 drink recipes and 3-5 snack recipes. Every recipe includes an introduction, an ingredient list, and directions. The directions seem easy enough to follow, however, you will most likely need ingredients you do not have on hand for the drinks. The Vedge Bar Book would be great if you are planning a vegan cocktail party or get-together with family and friends.

Like all the best cookbooks, this is also a work of art. Each cocktail and bar snack looks delicious. The plant-based focus, for the drinks, generally just means they are mixed with aquafaba instead of egg white (which is gross and didn't work the one time I tried it in a cocktail recipe anyway). There are so many niche ingredients that I can't see readers trying to make these drinks at home--unless you have an extremely well-stocked liquor cabinet and are willing to spend a lot on accessories. However, I totally plan to make a simplified version of the "Nothing Sacred" cocktail with rum, dry white wine, lemon juice and damson gin.
