This is one mistake Sienna Landry can’t buy her way out of.
As Walker Gibson looks at her, then at the damage to his precious truck (that she may or may not have accidentally inflicted), she knows she’s in trouble. It’s not the busted headlight and dented grill that’s sunk her though. It’s the downright sinful man in front of her that’s the problem.
The small town mechanic is broody. Rough. Smells like engine grease and gasoline and Sienna isn’t sure why that’s so sexy, but it is. It so is. She’s ready to peel off her panties at the drop of his wrench.
He wants her too. She can feel it when he brushes against her. Experience it as he presses her against the wall of the shop. It’s thinly veiled in his deep, brown eyes when he looks at her like she’s everything he’s ever wanted. So why won’t he give in?
The damage to Walker’s truck is the first of many mistakes between the two of them, ending with truths that rock Sienna’s world. Nothing can fix her broken heart except the love of a man that won’t, maybe even can’t, love her back.
Crank (The Gibson Boys, #1) Reviews
-
I may sound a like a broken record but before I move forward to my review, let me just say, Crank is Adriana Locke's best book to date. And, I am definitely Cranked!
There's a reason why despite my swamped schedule I always look forward to Addy's release. It doesn't matter how full my calendar is as long as I can get my next fix. And that is solely because of Adriana Lockes's writing style. Feels god story? Check. Hot AF hero? Check. Sassy and strong heroine? Check. Panty Melting goodness? Check. Heart and Feels? Definitely Check. All these and more are packaged all throughout her works, and the starved that I am is always hungry for it. Crank was never an exception. Infact it exceeded the expectation I had of the book. It was definitely not what I expected it to be it was MORE! Addy more than delivered!
Sienna Landry's story and Walker Gibson's was one roller coaster ride I enjoyed so much despite my bloodshot eyes and nose as big as tomato. You read it right, Crank made me cry. I was still few pages in and this book made me tear up. I even cried so much nearing the end and that I for one hesitated if Addy's works is good or bad for my health. That and I stayed up until the wee hours after battling over myself in a "just a few chapters" to Hell! I will finish this, work be damned!
And finish I did. It was so good that all I manage to say was, I am in love with Walker and Sienna. Their characters was easy to love. The moment they met, gah! I can definitely feel the sexual tension. Feels are just as overflowing as my blood pumping because of so much heat that emanated from them. Never and I mean never have I ever thought of grease and oil to be a turn on. But this book rectified that. Lawd! I can never see any mechanic shop, oils and grease without thinking about Sienna and Walker and the scorching scenes they did. It will be hard for goodness sake! But this is Addy and her penchant of all things sexy AF. She always nailed it that you'll leave begging for more. Sienna and Walker had that chemistry so strong you'll get hooked just from them. They need not talk, their inner voices tells it all. But gah! When they talk and interact, clothes will be flying!!! Guess, there's no reason for me to specify it as the blurb says it all and the tag line Blue collar meets silver spoon pretty much paved the foundation of this story. It was really good that in the whole duration of my reading, I have this permanent smile etched in my face and a full belly laugh here and there and hot flushes too! But for real though Addy, I may have wished Crank to be real, but for goodness sake I want to punch throat the man of his assholeness! He's not just brooding but at times A-hole too! But then, he made his way back to my heart as you weave your magical words and excellent writing. Damn! I feel for the man and I love that you paired him up with Sienna. I love how you portrayed her character because it was a sight to behold when Walker let her in.
Both may have been so different but they are just perfect for each other. With their differences comes a common ground - belongingness and a love like no other. Theirs might be instant but what they shared is something worth to be pondered over. Because for real, True love isn't something you pick; it's something the universe picks for you. I love it for real because with all the smile and laugh I had with my journey with them, they felt alive and I feel like they can be anybody else even me. I love what they have. And it's true,
"If you're lucky enough to get a shot at love, ... it's worth whatever you have to do to keep it."
And I was ecstatic how they fought for it and make way to keep it. I have cried river of tears because I can feel so many emotions between them and the people that surrounds them. It wasn't just them you know, it was also the family dynamics that played a great role to their HEA.
Overall, I love this book and definitely will recommend it. I thought I couldn't love any more of her works, but I was so wrong. It may be somewhat the last book of the Landry's because of Sienna, but it has the Gibson mark that was clearly and vividly stamped all over it. And I love this new series already. It will be a blast because I assure you that as always, Adriana Locke will not disappoint you. Hell, she did not disappoint Walker and Sienna's journey. I can read this book a thousand times and I still will enjoy. Adriana always knows how to entertain and captivate her readers. It's amazingly written and is the perfect first book of the series. She managed to pull my heart strings, made me cry and laugh that full belly laugh. She even made me swoon but above all, this book - Crank made me fall in love over and over again.
Great job Adriana Locke! Kudos!

I LOVED IT. I LOVED IT. I LOVED IT. I LOVED IT. I LOVED IT. Can I say that over and over and over and over and over again?! Because OMG! Crank was everything I needed, everything I wanted, everything that's good and right about a sweet, sexy, and heartwarming contemporary romance. I LOVED it. I can't even tell you how much I needed this book in my life. It made me smile and cry and swoon and smile again. ALL THE FEELS, man! They were down right perfect. Heart achingly perfect. No one writes a sweet and delicious romance with all those "family saga" feels like Adriana Locke. She just charms the hell out of me with strong characters that have a heart of gold and an intoxicating storyline. Wow. Just wow. Super swoony over Crank. Full review coming soon. FIVE STARS.

Crank is book one in The Gibson Boys series by Adriana Locke. This is my very first book by Adriana. This would qualify as a small town romance with an insta-spark between the two main characters.
Sienna Landry is Camilla Landry from The Landry Family series, twin sister. She was the one sibling of the Landry’s that wanted to make her own way. She didn’t want to live off her family’s name. So she moved to a small town in Illinois to start a new design business with her best friend. One mistake that might have involved a baseball bat and the front of a pick up truck put her face to face with a very angry and very good looking man. A man whose eyes, even in the darkened parking lot, seemed to see straight into her.
Walker Gibson is owner of Crank, the local garage. He’s in his brother’s bar when someone tells him his truck has been damaged. When he goes to investigate, he meets the most intriguing woman he’s ever seen, a woman that he can’t get off his mind. Little did he know that this woman was going to change his life.
Sienna is at a point in her life and career when she’s not sure what she’s going to do next, when decisions are going to need to be made. Walker is broody and rude but she can see hints of something deeper. Something he’s trying to keep closed off. But why? Still, she wants to get to know him better.
Both Sienna and Walker are attracted to each other in a huge way. There’s a bit of push and pull here when Walker is obviously fighting his growing feelings but he’s keeping secrets. Secrets that have the power to ruin everything before it even has a chance to bloom.
“Something about her just sparks a match deep inside me, one I can’t put out no matter how hard I try.”
I enjoyed this so much. I loved the connection between Sienna and Walker. I got pretty frustrated with Walker, not understanding his reasons for behaving the way he was. When they were together, though, these two were so adorable. I loved how Walker was with her when he started to open up. You can’t help but to fall in love with this family, with Walker’s brothers and his cousin Peck. Peck really won my heart. And I loved the way this ended. I definitely swooned. This is such a sweet story with characters you can’t help but love. And you will want to get to know Walker’s brothers better. It also makes me wonder about the other series and Sienna’s family. I will definitely be reading this author again!

Crank is the first in a brand new series by Adriana Locke. Though if you've read her Landry Family series then you'll know the heroine. Sienna Landry is the sibling that can't seem to settle down at home, which is how she finds herself in a small town still feeling a little lost. But how she wound up working in a auto shop and trying to keep her hands off her semi-boss...you'll have to read the story to find out.
I was actually a little nervous that this spin-off series would still be very involved in the Landry Family series. Not that that series wasn't good, because I very much enjoyed it, but I just have a pet-peeve of spin-off series that end up not being able to be read on their own. But with Crank there was nothing to worry about and I ended up loving how the author kept the book separate from the previous series. Yet still gave us enough little glimpses into her family that will make any fan of them smile.
Walker Gibson stole my heart with his soft spoken intensity. He was a man of few words it seemed, at least to me, but I loved that about him. All he needed though were those hot and intense looks towards Sienna for her to know that he wanted her just as much as she did him. Their relationship wasn't one that they fell into easily but their connection was strong and that's what had me rooting for them from the beginning.
I already know I'm going to be obsessed with this series. Ms. Lock writes a close-knot family so well and I love how she keeps it all very realistic. Family has their fights and differences and she put those into a family dynamic while still showing an overabundance of love between them. It's what makes me love her family series so much and I can't wait to get more of it from this series.

AHHHHH! I LOVED THIS SO MUCH! The FEELS! The laughs! The amazing family dynamic! I just couldn’t get enough! CRANK has got to be a NEW FAVORITE of mine from this author! Just when you think you couldn’t love Adriana Locke’s writing anymore than you already do, she gives us a brand new family to FALL HEAD OVER HEELS for! The Landry Family will ALWAYS be special to me, but The Gibson Family is a FORCE of NATURE! This small town family is lovable, hilarious, entertaining, and just absolutely WONDERFUL! I wanted to jump through the book and give them ALL THE HUGS! No one writes impeccable family dynamic quite like Locke does! I’m IN LOVE!!!
Walker Gibson is up first! His better half, Sienna Landry, who we all know and LOVE, is giving him a run for his money! These two were just EVERYTHING I could ever want in an Adriana Locke coupling! Two stubborn characters falling for each other is just PURE JOY to experience! It’s blue-collar meets blue eyes in the first EPIC standalone in Locke’s INCREDIBLE new series - The Gibson Boys!
If you don’t fall instantly for these boys, I’ll eat my hat! Gorgeous, stubborn, frustrating, and swoon-worthy, this author whips up another batch of men that we will never forget! If you are looking for a beautiful romance full of humor, heart, and hilarious banter, look no further than CRANK! You will ADORE and DEVOUR each and every page! Get ready to BLUSH, CRY, SCREAM, and SWOON HARD for this incredible couple!

Four stars:
Because of their banter.
Because of the small town and big family.
Because I just want to.
Ta taaa! 🤡 -
“True love isn’t something you pick; it’s something the universe picks for you.”
I absolutely, 100%, just got CRANKed by Walker Gibson and I wouldn't, without a niggle of a doubt, have it any other way! Hell, I already want to go back in and just live inside this world where the Landrys and the Gibsons are real. I can't even begin to describe how thrilled I am that Adriana Locke chose to start her newest series by crossing over the phenomenal and unforgettable Landry Family with her overly handsome and desirable troublemakers—the Gibson Boys. And let's face it—that in and of itself is brilliant enough to make this a smashing hit in my book.
This is the ultimate proof of why I freaking anticipate and adore all of this author's work. She always ticks off almost every single thing I crave and need in a remarkable romance novel without fail—a sexy, grumpy hero with a mysterious past; a feisty, sassy-mouthed heroine with a beautiful soul; the swoony feels and emotional overload; secondary characters that will make you beg for their own stories; and a captivating plot with the twists and conflicts that will have your heart pumping and your blood rushing through your veins. I shouldn't have had any worries that she could successfully follow up the Landry Family series—which I loved with every fiber of my being—with another one that I now believe is even better.
”You’re born with an energy that connects to someone else’s, and for reasons we will never understand, you’re brought together and it isn’t a choice anymore. That’s true love.”
The way Ms. Locke wrote Sienna Landry and Walker Gibson's story just blew me away; it was beyond riveting and compelling and filled with so much emotion that I'm still reeling over it all. It will also string you along the entire ride, keeping you guessing as to what will come next and waiting for the other shoe to drop—the build up was seriously that intense. Walker and Sienna's chemistry was absolutely off the charts and that connection between them was just so undeniably electric. They were out of this world combustible once they gave in to what was brewing between them the moment they laid their eyes on each other. And the way they found their equal ground and steady footing around one another will have you glued to the book from cover to cover. The dynamic between the characters, especially the brothers, is like pure crack—you won't ever have your fill of them. I just loved the playful bantering, the continuous ribbing, the comfort and sense of belonging among the Gibsons that flowed all throughout the story. You'll definitely feel like you're a part of the crew the whole time you're immersed in their world.
“You belong in a place where you can plant your roots and feel safe enough to let them grow. You belong somewhere your tank is filled as much as you take from it. You belong in the little niche of the world where you can’t imagine waking up anywhere different.”
You'd probably think nothing can rival the Landry Family Adriana Locke has introduced us to and had us falling so deep for. But nope, you haven't seen nothing yet. Wait until you meet these Gibson Boys, then reevaluate. I mean, just the parts with their cousin, Peck, is already enough to make this book worth your while. I fell for him and his sweet, crazy ass—I want nothing more than to know what his story is going to be—but I loved Walker Gibson even more. As a whole? All I can say is that Crank is truly an exceptional start to a new series and is the BEST Locke book I've read thus far. These Gibson boys will DESTROY hearts and ovaries. They will leave you breathless, speechless, and your world a little more than topsy turvy.

You can’t tame a girl like Sienna.
Once again Adriana Locke blesses us with a sweet and hot small town contemporary romance. Somehow she can weave in the close-knit small town vibe, the going to church and family dinners on Sundays with a reluctant love story and make it just work so seamlessly.
Walker & Sienna are sweet. They are funny. They are hot. They are a little bit of everything which can also be said about this story as a whole. I laughed, I swooned, I cried. Such a good read. Walker may not be ready for Sienna, and she may not be expecting him either, but you can tell they are just meant to be. There’s a dash of angst, but it’s handled well.
As per usual, the side characters in this are everything, and have me so pumped for the rest of the series. I adore PECK! Agh. Where can I get me one? Machlan and Lance too! Nana of course, and Blaire may be a little mysterious at this point, but of course I want more of her too. Dave, oh my heart. Ok.. it’s fair to say I love everyone. Plus the little touches we get from already favorite Landry family! Agh. Such a great book for the side characters as well. I don’t know how she makes the mains shine while still making everyone else lovable. Talent for sure.
All in all a great read. If you enjoy contemporary you need to one click this one now! I said this when I read the Landry Family series, and I can easily say it again. Can the Gibson’s adopt me? I want to be a part of this. That is how good Adriana writes a family! -
5 Sparkly Small Town Stars
Original Review:
I absolutely loved this brilliantly written romance. It may be set in small town America but there is nothing small about the emotion it packs.
Walker Gibson is the mechanic in the town and he is the absolute epitome of the dark, brooding hero. One night , a beautiful spitfire of a girl, Sienna Landry, arrives and smashes his beloved truck outside his brother's bar. She has made quite the entrance and she also makes a big impression on our grumpy hero. Sienna and Walker clash but the chemistry between them is electric. Walker is holding back, but how long can he resist the gorgeous girl who pushes all his buttons?
The pace of the story is good and there is a lot of push and pull between these two. I thought this worked well and it felt like it was integral to the story and especially Walker's character. Walker is an intriguing hero. He says some pretty horrible things but he did redeem himself rather spectacularly. I really felt for him at times despite his behaviour , which made me want to slap him!
Sienna is a brilliantly written heroine. She's strong yet has vulnerabilities. She is funny, loyal and immensely likeable.
I LOVED the secondary characters in this novel. The other Gibson boys have captured my attention too and I am itching to hear their stories. I adored Peck, Walker's cousin. I hope he gets a book.
And a special mention to Nana....she is AWESOME!
This is the first book in the series and sets the scene for the subsequent books really well. If you love small town romances with a gorgeous hero and adorable heroine, pick this one up. Be prepared for all the feels....and some kindle freezer moments. Walker and Sienna are HOT.
HEA? Yes- maybe more HFN , but I know there is more to come.
Cheating? No
Re read via audible in August 2022. Excellent narration by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross. One of my favourite scenes is still Peck dancing on the bar in Crave. Plus it gives me an excuse to use my favourite gif...

1st Reread: July 2023
I have to lower my rating to 2 ⭐
After finishing the Landry series I wanted to read Sienna's story too. I hadn't realized that this one was her book but I wanted to reread this for a long time after not managing to finish it the first one. Now I understand why I couldn't finishing it then. I just didn't care for her and Walker. The only reason I kept reading it was for some tidbits of the Landry family. Really disappointed. 2 ⭐
---------------------------------
Timing is everything! That applies both to this book (I’m talking about the plot) and me right now. I wasn’t in the mood to read the whole book but there’s nothing wrong about it, it just wasn’t for me right now (don’t ask me why I picked it, I chose a random number, checked my tbr and voila! 😅). I read the first 30% and the last 20% (which I really liked by the way) and I just skimmed the rest. I’m planning on rereading it because I enjoyed the parts I read and I want to read the rest of the series.
This is a small-town, insta-love contemporary romance about Walker, a guy who lost his parents and now works at his family garage, and Sienna, a girl who moves to Walker’s hometown with her friend to start some business together. I liked them both as characters (Walker did get on my nerves sometimes but, overall, I liked him) and I loved some of the side characters, especially Peck (I really want to read his story) and Nana.
Please don’t take this review under consideration if you’re planning on reading this book! I’ll give it 3-stars for now but I’ll update my review and rating after rereading it.

I liked the story and our hero who didn't want to get involved or to fall in love but he ended up with his four tires flat because of our heroine. LOL! She hit him from the start and he didn't even see it coming.

Move over Landry's! The Gibson boys have arrived!
Crank had all the laughs, heart, and steam that I have come to love about Adriana Locke's books, plus a sweet nod to my beloved Landry family. This is book 1 in the new interconnected standalone Gibson Boys series, and I cannot wait for everyone to meet this family!
Sparks fly from the very moment Walker Gibson and Sienna Landry meet. On paper they couldn't be more different, which created a wonderful enemies to lovers vibe. Every time he pushed, she pushed back and I loved their innuendo and verbal sparring. Each of them gave just as good as they got and it just amped up the sexual tension and chemistry between them!
Walker comes across at first as prickly, broody, and standoffish, but once you start peeling back the layers, you see the gentle and kind man buried underneath. It's clear there are emotional scars and baggage weighing him down, but I loved how being with Sienna brought out the best in him. Sienna too is dealing with her own kind of baggage, but in the form of expectations and purpose. What starts as lust and sexual attraction develops into so much more, but is it enough to overcome the obstacles standing in the way of their HEA?
One of my favorite things about Adriana Locke's books are the families. Each is colorfully crazy in their own endearing way. In addition to Walker, we're also introduced to his brothers Machlan and Lance, his sister Blaire, cousin Peck, and grandmother Nana. Readers may remember Machlan and Peck and the town of Linton in Adriana Locke's other book, Lucky Number Eleven. I'm excited that each of these Gibson family members are also getting their own books in the future, starting with the unapologetic manwhore, Lance. You can't have a book featuring Sienna Landry though and not get a little check in from the Landry clan too! I will never get enough of Lincoln ;) You definitely don't want to miss this delicious new series!
*I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book* -
The first time Sienna and Walker meet, it's because she hits his truck by mistake while showing her friend 'how to swing a bat' and well you know what happens.
This book was so good!! It was my first book by Adriana Locke and I can't wait to read more by her. So well you know how they meet, but their relationship progresses beautifully from there. It was a slow burn and I'm usually not a fan of them except for books by Mariana Zapata but Ms.Locke did an amazing job with it.
To pay off the debt for ruining Walker's precious truck, Sienna offers to work for him. They both have a mutual attraction but neither of them act on it. Sienna does some work (I dont remember) along with her friend and that's how they end up in this town. Then Sienna's friend leaves leaving her alone in the town. She contemplates leaving as well but she like Walker and decides to stay for a while.
Their relationship was beautiful to witness and this book gave me all the feels. I even cried a little (okay...A LOT) when they went their own separate ways after a fight but it made the ending that much sweeter.
Oh, and the end!!! (in the tree-house) -
3.5/4 stars
Crank-I am thinking of Jason Statham when I hear this word lol, and this scene :
Ok, this book is nothing like this, is actually a pretty tame small town story about the broody Walker and wild Sienna.
Sienna Landry is the twin sister of Camilla from Landry Family series, she wants to make her own life so she moved in a small town in Illinois with her best friend to open a design businesses.
One night and one mistake brings her in Walker Gibons attention. They settle for her to work at his garage to pay the debt and so their infatuation with eachother begins.
Walker fought tooth and nails to keep away from beautiful and intriguing woman who seems to have turned is life upside down, but in the end nothing can keep this two apart. He struggles with past ghosts and his life is like a limbo, but once he lets himself live we see he is not the grumpy men we thought he is. Sienna is a spirited souls, smart and sassy and dare I say very forgiving.
Now, the plot of this book, who seemed to have bothered some other reviewers, for me was just meh. I mean yes, its not cool, and he could have confessed way earlier , but is not like an unforgivable mistake, not in my opinion anyways. What I don't like tho, is a weak heroine, one that starts to cry when she is put in front of the problem and runs from a bar with her tail between her legs. Nope. I want a h who will have stood her ground and demanded an explanation and held her head up.
This brings another issue I have, a thing that happens in lots of book actually. The LET ME EXPLAIN sentence: well fucking explain, don't ask 10 times permission, especially if the person you are trying to explain things is in front of you, they might not seem to care or to even listen, but they are, and maybe they totally dismiss you but trust me, when they'll be alone and calm they will think about the words you just said and might take or might not take them in consideration, but hey! its worth a shot.
Anyways, there are 3 Gibons brothers and cousin Peck which I like the most, so I might continue with this series. -
Adriana Locke, for a change, really impressed me here! I can say that this series is going to be really great.
Walker, you are a great man who deserves so much of love! And Sienna, you are a girl with a big heart.❤️ -
5 STARS!!!
Holy Jesus. I. LOVED. THIS. STORY. I was consumed from page one. The push and pull, the chemistry, the banter between Walker and Sienna had me grinning from ear to ear. SERIOUSLY. I could NOT get enough of these two. And man, oh man, when they FINALLY got it on, it was like a bomb went off....in my pants. Not gonna lie. Their sex scenes were so damn hot my kindle melted. DAMN.
One of the things I enjoy about Adriana's characters is they are all SO DIFFERENT. Her stories are never repetitive. They are fresh, fun and sexier than hell. She writes bromance like nobody else and it's one of my all time favourite things to read in a romance novel. The Gibson boys were so fun I couldn't stop smiling. I can't wait to read more about them. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE the families Locke creates. She makes me want to be a part of them! -
At first I thought I'd round it up to 2 stars, because I didn't dislike it as much as some of the other books I gave 1 star to but nah, I'm cranky, I'm moody and I'm tired of this shit, so there we go.
My overall feeling? Sigh™
Aside from the fact that I genuinely just didn't feel the love between Sienna and Walker, nor any romance whatsoever, my main problem with this story was the problematic shit these characters said - mostly Walker and all the other "Gibson boys" - because "boys will be boys" I guess🙃
Like, I don't need these characters to be perfect, but the combo of casual sexism, casual homophobia and objectification really did it for me. Not.
✘ "Because I distinctly remember you getting balls deep with some psychologically-challenged women."
It's right there on page 9, I should've DNF'ed then, but I clearly hate myself, so I kept going.
✘ "He's a worthless, pussified co**s****r who tried once, only once..."
The C-slur is used multiple times throughout the book, I don't know if author is just unaware that it's a homophobic slur or if it's a conscious choice to use that word for a sexual predator or an athlete that's under-performing. I guess good old 'asshole' or 'dick' or 'jackass' are just not edgy enough, oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
✘ ""She can do that?"
"Let me see," Machlan says, craning his neck. "If there's anything left of her, I'll have a shot of THAT."
"There won't be."
They're not talking about the heroine here, so it's totally okay to be gross, I guess 🙄 Because, you know, other women who are not the heroine or related to the Gibsons, or possible future heroines, are just wh*res for enjoying casual sex, as has been reiterated with a subtlety of a hammer throughout this book.
✘ Hero is married and no one tells the heroine
Like, I understand that Walker has been separated from his wife for 4 years and the marriage is dead, but then if it's not a big deal, why lie about it? I don't care if it's by omission, it was kept from Sienna on purpose. This alone wouldn't put me off perhaps, but on top on everything else, it just pushed me from feeling "let's be open-minded about this" to "I don't want these two to get together, heroine doesn't deserve this".
Currently in negotiations with my brain to allow me to ditch this series even though I already started it.
Trigger warning: homophobic slurs, casual homophobia, sexism -
Swinging a bat in a crowded parking lot is never a good idea. Smashing the head light of a truck, again, a bad idea. Finding out the owner of said truck is a hot mechanic, not so bad.
Sienna Landry, one of the Landry's from another of the author's books series, is spunky, smart, determined and hot. That is what Walker Gibson notices. When she shows up to pay his shop gets busy and while he steps away she ends up paying for repairs for two customers with down on their luck stories. They argue, she wants to pay, he doesnt want her too, than his cousin says for her to work to pay it off. On hiatus from her job she says yes.
With every step she takes for the good with Walker, he usually makes then take two step backs. Its a slow build until it explodes and explodes it does, then we learn why he is stand off-ish when his past comes to roost and her family throws their might into it.
Love Ms Locke's stories, her characters and her "worlds". -
Every character in this book voted for tr*mp in 2016. The 2 stars are for the sex scenes
-
I generally like books by Adriana Locke and was looking forward to this book as it was about the last Landry sibling, Sienna. Unfortunately it did not live up to my expectation and was a disappointment. The last book of the Landry Family series
Swink, saw Sienna leaving Savannah and heading to Chicago to start up a design company. The story picks up a few months from that and is the introduction to a new series about the Gibson brothers. Walker Gibson, the oldest sibling, is the owner of the local town mechanic shop and generally just a grumpy person.
The first few pages held such promise, with the easy and funny banter between the Gibson family member but then came the scene about the truck being smashed.
Walker and Sienna naturally clash and things go pear shape when they both remain stubborn. I felt that both characters, especially Walker lacked development and that his background story was not given enough details to make you understand why he was the way he was. As for the story flow, there were definite gaps and jumps where I was left feeling like I'd lost the plot.
And lets not even get to Sienna. My god. She was beyond annoying and childish and ridiculous.
There were just so many things that got to me in this book that I'm beyond frustrated and disappointed. Despite knowing this I'll probably read the next book to see if this one was a fluke... -
Where to start... Firstly how did I not know about these books? Omg I love this family.
Sienna Landry's first meeting with Walker Gibson is one for record. Smashing up his truck Daisy might not be the best first impression to make, but Walker is left reeling with his first encounter with Sienna.
Sienna and Walker, the whole family will have you laughing, and turning the pages as this story starts to unfold.
Walker keeps to himself, closed off from any form of an emotional attachment. Burned in the past he's not willing to go a second time around. But when he spots Sienna he knows she's different. He will try to fight the attraction but it's a done deal. She's the one.
Sienna is drifting, she wants to make a difference in life she just does not know what it is she's supposed to do. A wealthy family, with political ties she knows she doesn't want to do that. But meeting Walker will be the change she needed.
A story with well developed characters, laughter and a family that brings warmth and love to the table. Hot and steamy. -
This is book one of a new series for Adriana and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it and she didn't disappoint! Gibson meets Landry in the best way( well more of The Landrys like say arm wrestling with the Gibsons over beer at the farm) <--- sounds good doesn't it. OK I'm getting distracted.
Walker is a #broodyboy and he and Sienna meet a very interesting way. They are drawn together from the start but fight it. How they first met causes them to be around each other a lot and things happen. The feels .. I was rooting for them from the beginning but Sienna doesn't know if she is staying in town and Walker is hiding something. The story takes some twists you don't except but it makes the story feel more real. Read this to see if they can overcome their fears and CRANK up the LOVE. -
Ooof that was way more heart-warming than I would’ve imagined. It had me crying like a sap.
Here are some of my thoughts:
• I was skeptical because I was getting so used to the Landry Family books – but I’m now super glad that Sienna’s book starts off this new series.
• Sienna is so much more down-to-earth and less polished than her family – and I love that about her. She’s the “rebellious” one but I am glad to see her having actuals goals and seriousness in her. She’s never just acting out – but she’s simply living her life, doing what she wants to do, and trying to figure it out like the rest of us. She is an easy character to love and relate to (despite being ridiculously rich). I like seeing all of these new sides to her that we didn’t see in the Landry Family books – she is easy-going and chill (showing her more cheerful, fun-loving side), but she also has serious concerns about her life (showing her more vulnerable side).
• Walker is broody and serious, so it is nice seeing Sienna interact with him and tease him out of his shell. He is frustrating at times b/c he can be confusing AF and slow to communicate – but he is also sweet to the core. In fact, I find both the setup of the romance development and the love interest himself to be the most romantic out of all of the books I have read from Adriana Locke so far. It is fun reading the slow-burn and development of their relationship.
• I adore Peck! He is a great friend and family to both Sienna and Walker. He is hilarious and goofy, but also supportive and caring to the max. I can’t wait for his book the most (I’m sad that it’s not the next one), but I get this feeling his book will be the last.
• I adore all of the descriptions of Sienna warming up to this town. In particular, her genuine feelings for Nana and Dave make my heart go fuzzy. Nana is a warm presence, while Dave’s talk about his wife makes me emotional. Also, her wanting to help out the people she sees who need it makes me like her even more. She is aware of her privilege and does what she can – in small and big ways. One complaint that I have is that even though we get a good understanding of her fondness for Nana and Dave, other people she has met in town that she has described and become friends with – they get a vague overview. It would have been nice to get those scenes in real time and not vague recollections that she became good friends with these people in town. It would have made readers’ perception to her attachment to this town more palpable, and thus, connecting to Sienna’s story even more.
• Cameos with the Landry family! As always, I admire how close-knit they all are and how they always have each other’s back.
4 stars for a likable heroine and hero, a sweet romance, and solid family and friendship themes.

We had two reviewers read this book, and they had differing opinions. Our star rating is an approximation of their thoughts, so read on to see what they both had to say!! That's books, right?
Crank is one of those books where I don't even know where to start. There was so much goodness tucked into these pages and my heart is bubbling over with how happy and satisfied it is. I'm relatively new to Adriana Locke's work - this is only the third book I've read by her - but this just might be the book that made me an actual fangirl.
I guess I'll start with the love story - since it's a romance after all, that's maybe what you care most about. It is divine you guys. I felt like it perfectly captured that achy yearning and (my much coveted) sparky chemistry between Sienna and Walker. I sat in sort of a breathless daze as they pushed and pulled at each other, and then it felt like my whole body lit up when they finally found their way. I adored these characters individually, and together they were perfection. Honestly, this is one of the most satisfying romances that I've read this year.
Beyond that, it's also a charming, humorous, and heartfelt family story. I've only read one of the Landry Family books so I don't have all of their stories, and yet it was completely rewarding to see them all show up here in various ways and to varying degrees. But, and as it should be, the Gibson boys stole the show. I am already crazy about them - all of them (but I mean, Peck...really. You guys. PECK.) Honestly, I am so excited that there are more of these guys in my future because Ms. Locke has gifted us with an amazing set of colorful personalities here.
I'm crazy about this book. Chock full of authentic and heartfelt emotion, littered with charming little laugh-out-loud moments, and heavy on the swoon (no kidding - I had a moment towards the end of this book. Near full-on swoon), Crank was nothing but aces for me. I highly recommend, and I am desperate for more! ~ Shelly, 5 Stars

This is a tough review for me to write. There were so many good elements to Crank but there was just something missing for me, something that made me struggle a bit with Walker and it took me a bit to warm up to him.
Don't get me wrong, Walker is a good guy. He's a bit broken and bruised, but he's surrounded by great family and friends. There were lots of laugh out loud moments with those crazy family and friends. I'm looking right at you, Peck! And with Walker, I knew there was a man who wanted more, wanted Sierra, simmering under his gruff façade.
Now, Sienna I adored from page one. I immediately connected with her and her crazy cute quirkiness. Loved how she was trying to live her own life, make her own way from the trappings of her family name. Loved how she loved her family and friends.
And in the end, I really did like Sienna and Walker together, but it took me a while to get there. Their chemistry did grow and develop and their sexiness was off the charts. But what kept me really reading were the side characters and my desire to see how Sienna and Walker ended up. Trust me, there were times when I truly wondered if they'd make it!
I will say that I am greatly looking forward to Lance's book, Craft. I really like these Gibson Boys. ~ Missy, 3 stars -
First person/Dual-POV, HAE.
4.5 stars.
Crank is the touching story about Sienna and Walker, both reinventing themselves in different ways, in the same small town.
Sienna isn't so much running from her life of stiff collars and polite manners, as she is letting herself be true to her personality. She was never cut out for the formalities, and that's why she left Savannah to pursue a career in custom design - apparel, assorted merchandise - with her best friend. With her friend now having to rejoin the family business, she's left with a decision - stay or go?
Walker has experienced loss in several ways, and prefers his life of family only and the patrons of his mechanic shop. Never moving forward with relationships, he lives a pretty solitary life. That is, until he sees a beautiful blonde standing next to his truck with a... bat? Yup, pretty little thing just accidentally wrecked the front of his truck and he has a plan for how she can repay him: working at his shop. Although, that's more her idea than his.
As they spend time around one another, her bright personality is lifting his broodiness and revealing the good-hearted man underneath. And sparks fly. Pretty much from their first encounter, but working together fans them into flames. Soon, he's considering forgoing his rule against serious relationships and making something happen with this confident firecracker that stumbled into his life.
I loved these characters during every chapter, and I LOVE the boys in his family - all equally handsome, and witty. And just... ugh. I look forward to more stories with them in it. Especially Peck.
This is the first book I've read by Locke, and definitely won't be my last. She mixes the perfect amount of feeling with steamy goodness, and the emotions are pure and real.
Till next time cuties ;)! -
Ok
Loved the cover for this one! Walker our hero is broody asshole. And to be honest, there's no good reason why.
Sienna is sweet, but she really put herself out there to get to him. However it seems as though her plan was not contrived, it SOOOOOO was! She practically forces her way into the assholes life. Meanwhile he treats her like hot poo! (Not a fan of chicks who throw themselves at assholes)
This is a lot of story that gives us very little romance satisfaction. It never really hit the sweet spot. And the reveal was super predictable. Heroine's reaction to reveal? Immature in my opinion.
This book is a small town romance that doesn't seem to lift off. The Gibson boys just don't do it for me. I guess it isn't all it's CRANKED up to be! -
Big fan of Adriana Locke and her Landry family!
This one is about Sienna, who’s one of my favorite heroines. She’s smart, funny, loving, down to earth, complex woman. I simply love her.
And don’t get me started on the broody Walker. ❤️
Can’t wait to read the next one.
