CINDERBELLA
I found the writing to be stilted, juvenile and the grammatical errors very annoying. The drug the author called a poison is actually. antibiotic!!! I know this was supposed to be a fairytale , but the characters weren't believable at all. -
So cute
A complete retelling of Cinderella! So amazing. I'm glad that she found her happily ever after! They should make this into a movie. Loved it! -
Cinderbella:
Ms. Skye didn't do too well with this one. She wasted more time trying to match the fairy tale story we all know and love, that failed to notice she wasn't making this story her own. We don't need a repeat to the original that Disney played out. We got that already. What we need was more her own mix to it. Say example, when they called for a different kind of Cinderella tale in film we were given "Ever After," starring Drew Barrymore, Anjelica Huston, and Dougray Scott. In that version instead of having the name Cinderbella she was named Danielle and while she lived the life that followed closely to the written tale there some major changes. She first met the Prince Henry when stole a horse from the stables of her family home. She threw rocks or apple I at the guy. He gave her money for her silence. She met him again when she took that money to the palace to free up one of the house worker that her step mother charged with thievery and had him sold. When the man driving the carriage refused to release him and yelled at her the prince, who being escorted back to palace after his run away attempt, yelled at the man, put him in his place, and demanded the release. The story goes to more run in like that and we find out that one of the step sisters is actually nice and loves and supports Danielle.
Again when a call was made for a televised version of Cinderella on TV's "Once Upon A Time," we find out that Rumple Steelskin killed Cinderella's fairy godmother in front of her just as she was about to give her her chance to meet the prince. Rumple Steelskin then gave her the same things as her fairy godmother but for a price.
When they ask a IR version the attempt was a failure (sorry). The story seemed to lack in creative originality we are used to seeing from Lena Skye and was full on rushed.
This is the only book that I've ever disliked by this author and it makes nervous to read all IR fairytales in this series. Sorry Lena Skye I really am but no stars for this one. -
This was a cute modern day IR fairy tale with a twist or swirl (lol). It has all the elements I remembered about the Cinderella fairytale of my youth. Yes, the father died and the main character is treated like a slave in the household. The difference was the hero's name changed to Bella and how appropriate. Stepmother aka Stella still a low-down and greedy woman, stepsisters jealous-hearted nitwits (Maeve & Martha) with the exception of the baby sister, Marina who really loves poor Bella. The hero, Cole is a rich and handsome businessman with a dog name T-Bone that Bella dog walks along with other dogs in the area. And the supposedly fairy godmother, Winnie is the lady who lives across the street who can somehow read Bella's mind.
Oh... you will love this tale but forget about the glass slippers ladies because Bella wears Louboutins! Loved it!!
4 stars with a cute smile! -
