The great news about this book is that I have agreed with BLESMA - The Limbless Veterans Charity to donate £1.50 from the sale of every paid copy of this book to them forever. I'm hoping to raise £1000s for them so every copy counts! This is what they have to say about our “BLESMA exists to assist its people lead independent and fulfilling lives. Where possible this will involve employment and Tim Savage's book supports this aim admirably by showing serving and ex-Service members how best to utilise LinkedIn, the most contemporary of employment tools. Clear and concise it is a must read for job seekers.” This is a book specifically written for members of the Armed Forces to help them create a great profile on LinkedIn. However, most of the advice and tips contained within it are equally applicable to anyone who is looking to create a great profile on LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a powerful social media business tool and it represents a huge opportunity for serving personnel to showcase your talent in a way that is relevant and interesting. Sadly, most serving personnel fail to utilise this great opportunity until it is too late - LinkedIn is not something to start using in the final months of your service. It's a great way of building your profile and network throughout your career. So my key message to anyone serving today is to get on board and start creating your profile today! This book gives you all the tips you need to get started and to create a great LinkedIn profile. My name is Tim Savage and I served in the British Army for over 26 years, starting life as a Private soldier and retiring in 2008 as a Lieutenant Colonel. I have since carved out a successful second career as a self employed Business Consultant and Business Growth Advisor for small businesses. I love life and I love what I do today, but I remain deeply grateful for the chance to have served my country and to have become the person I am today. I wrote this book after becoming hugely frustrated at seeing so many poorly written LinkedIn profiles by serving military personnel, including some very good friends of mine who would, one day, be looking for a second career. I now teach, coach and mentor small business owners for whom LinkedIn, along with the other social media platforms, is a huge opportunity to sell themselves and their products and services. Finding your next job or career is all about marketing yourself in a manner that reflects your experience and abilities. LinkedIn is a key tool in helping you achieve this but it is also very easy to look and sound like someone completely different to who you are - unless you understand what you need to say and how to say it! This book contains great examples of how to convert your headline into something memorable; how to write up your experience in a way that makes you stand out from almost everyone else on LinkedIn; and how to get the best recommendations. This is not a book that just tells you how to do it - it shows you too and in a way that you can adapt for your own profiles. This book is the first in a series of books I shall be writing over the coming months to actively support and help serving members of the Armed Forces find and succeed in their most important mission yet - to build a successful second career when it is time to leave the Armed Forces. This book is designed to help you get started on LinkedIn and it also contains my 9 'ninja nuggets' or top tips to help you succeed. It's based on my experience and knowledge of working with and learning from some of the best exponents of LinkedIn in the UK. It's got some very specific great tips on how to turn all that great military experience into a profile that a commercial company will understand.
