The Ripper Lives (Jack the Ripper: To Catch a Killer, #1) Reviews

First in a series about an inspector investigating Jack the Ripper. Very interesting!

    Jack is back!

Like many people, I am drawn to the case of Jack the Ripper out of curiosity, and I need to discover who he was.

The Ripper lives, satisfies that need. The first in a series of 10 stories beginning with the last known victim of Jack the Ripper.

Instead of rehashing, the infamous murders, we are privy a tail that follows inspector Abilene of Scotland Yard through the muck and Meyer of Whitechapel, searching for the Ripper.

The author pulls no punches when he describes the squalor of the people in places in White Chapel. Not for the faint of heart or prone to queasiness.

Thoroughly researched and well written tail that said my curiosity and made me feel as though I was experiencing it for real.

I highly recommend the lives and subsequent series.
    It has me wanting more!

I have a big interest in true crime and historical events. Jack the Ripper has always been intriguing because of the gruesome nature of the killings without ever being caught/identified. So much speculation has been made that the truth of the crimes and evidence is muddied. I like the perspective of this book with taking the case out of the forefront of the media at the time. There was just enough introduction into the events and ideas that surround the case while casting a new perspective on some of the characters. There is not an idea of "solve it overnight" but rather investigate and find the truth. The characters thus far have been interesting, and the author has done well to cast doubt an suspicion when necessary.
