Janie Grimm and her best friend Mia Andersen survived their first year of law school, and are now heading into summer internships at the local courthouse. Between their work for the judge and their part-time jobs at the theatre, Janie and Mia have a mystery to solve.

The Seawitch has escaped from faerie court lockdown and is out for revenge on relatives of Hans Christian Andersen. Along with the help of Aiden, members of F.A.B.L.E.S., a street girl named Allie, Bert the frog, and a theater employee named Jonah, the girls must find the target of the Seawitch's ire, deal with the reappearance of an absentee father, deflect an unwanted crush, nourish a new romance, work for a very eccentric judge, and find out why there is magic in the courthouse.

Janie and Mia must first figure out the answer to the puzzle, and then protect the person in the most danger…but who is the Seawitch’s intended prey?

The Andersen Ancestry (The Grimm Legacy) Reviews

I'd go 3.5 stars if the system would let me do halvsies. Solid sequel to the Grimm Legacy. All the things I liked about the first book were here again and better. I was glad to see Bert the frog get more page time, and I appreciated all the little nods to various Andersen stories and themes.

  • books are love

This second book was just as fun as the first. Again loved Bert. What he did because of his unrequited love. Here the danger centers around Mia and her father that she didn’t know. They are protectors in a way. The seawitch wanted her dead and the Snow Queen wanted to protect her and all the power plays for the title of running the realm of magick. We have Aiden and Janie loving each other but Janie’s fear of it not working. Janie and Mia starting a internship and trying to keep up the payments on her stepmother’s home. All these on top of Bert’s issues and Mia finding someone. Such imagination and action throughout the book.Revelations and family issues and reunions. Mia finding out about her dad, finding someone to care about and trying to deal with being in danger. You feel for all Mia is going for but when you see all Bert did and was hoping for you just have your heart cry and want a good life for him. The Seawitch reaks havoc and shows everyone that family and love is so important. In a way Bert did to because we see him so desperate to have his love returned and to get a life that it takes over his life and Janie who said she was a friend wasn’t there until it was too late and that hurt Bert more. Aiden was just as sweet and wonderful. Very supportive and kind. Always there even when he was unsure of Janie. His love shines through and his desire to support her no matter what is wonderful. A fun imaginative fantastic story of fighting evil for family friends and love. Finding love and not letting it go.

I was given an ARC book for an honest review free of persuasion from the author or anyone else affiliated with this book.

    CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS

I loved this book! I love how the author is taking fairy tales that we have grown up with and turned them into more. This is a wonderful read for all ages. The book is completely clean. If you love magic or the idea of magic really existing in our world then this book is for you. I read book 1 prior to reading this book. Although it is not completely necessary to read book 1 first, it is highly recommended.

Magic is once again appearing in Janie's life. The good news is that her friend Mia and herself were able to get through finals from their first year of law school first. Just as they begin their summer job interning for a judge, Janie finds both of them in trouble. The Seawitch has broken out of the equivalent of the faerie prison. She is intent on revenge. It is up to Janie to find out who she is after. Is Janie and her F.A.B.L.E.S friends able to figure it out? Are they able to stop the Seawitch and her plans?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was very happy to see that Bert, the talking frog was still around from book 1. I love that character. The Grim Legacy books are such a refreshing change from books I typically review. I am off to read book 3 in the series!

Great Read for all ages, This is an wonderful book and does an awesome job at making the stories of The Grimm legacy and fairy tales different then what we have read or seen yet. A story about Janie, and how she has to follow her dads legacy after his death and finds a frog prince along the way. A book you can't put down and just want to keep reading till then end. Make sure you read book 1 first in this series , it will help clear up any questions you have prior to reading book 2. This is book 2 of three so make sure you also pick up the last one so you are not delayed in reading the whole series. The author did an awesome job in writing the story and all the details in it as well. I am looking forward to reading the next last book in this series.

This book adds yet another exciting chapter to the adventures of law student Janie Grimm. This book leaves me with more questions than the first book in the series, but I still greatly enjoyed it.
