Miracles Now by New York Times best-selling author Gabrielle Bernstein will help readers eliminate stress and find peace—even if they only have a minute to spare. Bernstein knows that most of us don’t have time for an hour of yoga or 30 minutes of meditation, so she has hand-picked 108 techniques to combat our most common problems—from addiction and anxiety to burnout and resentment. Inspired by some of the greatest spiritual teachings, Bernstein offers up spirit-based principles, meditations, and practical, do-them-in-the-moment tools to help readers bust through blocks to live with more ease. She breaks down each technique Spirit Junkie style—with meditations, assessment questions, and step-by-step guidance—while incorporating lessons from A Course in Miracles and Kundalini yoga.

As readers benefit from the techniques they’ll be able to share them. Each practice has been boiled down to a 140-character description—or Miracle Message—which can be tweeted, pinned on Pinterest, posted on Facebook, or shared on Instagram. Each Miracle Message will end with the hashtag #MiraclesNow. Ebook readers can share right from their device.

Readers familiar with Bernstein’s fun and innovative take on spirituality will scoop up her latest work. And those who are discovering her will appreciate her easy-access approach to spirituality and transformation.

I was really hoping for more original ideas in this book. Out of 108 lessons almost all of them came from the authors friends, yoga teacher, or A Course in Miracles book.
One of the big issues I had with this book was that it came across very self promoting. The hashtags after every chapter got old very quick.
It felt like about half of the lessons instructed you to go to the authors website. Instead of having to go to her website I would have prefered the author to just include the information in the book.
The material tended to repeat itself, just rewording the lessons to make them seem new.
I feel like this book is tailored to someone who has never explored anything to do with meditation, positive thinking, yoga etc. With that being said the author missed key information that beginers would need to know in some of the lessons (example: The "Breath of Fire" exercise should not be done by women who are pregnant or during the first two days of her menstrual cycle).

I'm noticing that her books build on, and revert back to lessons from one another. For this particular book, I would recommend focusing on one tool per day over the course of 108 days. Me? I read this in a few days and got a LOT of journaling and meditating in.

    Some takeaways:

    - Feeling apathetic? Just show up. At the gym, with pen and paper, etc. It's 90% of it.
    - "Face gossip with silence." - Dream Hampton
    - In the presence of someone talking negatively? And they do this a lot? Don't be the light. Instead, listen, and confirm their low vibe, "That sounds really hard for you." Over time, the idea is that the low vibe person will become aware of his/her agency and choose a higher vibe. This also protects us since when we resist negativity it affects us, but when we observe it and let it pass, it doesn't soak into our being.
    - Give more of what you want to receive.
    - "Promote what you love instead of bashing what you hate." - Jordan Bach
    - Find spiritual running buddies to hold one another accountable and uncover the connection inherent in a spiritual path
    - Place your hand over your heart as a way to stimulate oxytocin, the love hormone
    - Your eyes will see what you desire.
    - When in doubt, play it out. (Imagine what the next steps look like if you send that text, or have another drink, and then decide if it's worth it.)

Actual title of this book: 108 Ways for me to use your weakness to promote my brand.

I shouldn't be so harsh or negative - it's a little ironic considering the nature of this book. But 140 character messages? With HASHTAGS?!

There were a few good tips and insights here. And if you're just dipping your toes into Kundalini or a spiritual awakening, this is a nicely marketed beginning, in easy to digest snippets.

But really. It's full of self-promotion. Actually rife. Riddled. And that negated many of its positive factors to me. The focus on helping the reader heal didn't feel genuine when you're constantly being reminded to check her website, her other book, or share her pre-packaged tweets and hashtags.

Sorry Gabby. I don't dig it.

I received a complementary copy of this book from Hay House for review purposes. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience.

When I attended Hay House’s recent I Can Do It conference in Denver I was browsing Gabrielle Bernstein’s “Miracles Now: Tools for Less Stress, More Flow, and Finding Your True Purpose” at the bookstore. “I was so hoping to hear Gabby speak today,” said a woman in her 20′s next to me, disappointed that Bernstein’s appearance at the conference had been cancelled. “Gabby is reaching the younger generation with her message,” she said. Having listened to Bernstein’s Hay House radio program in the past I said, “I like her, too, and I’m old!” But I had never read any of Bernstein’s books. Until now.

Miracles Now does indeed appeal to the young and old with its practical, easy to understand spiritual lessons. Divided into 108 short chapters (most one or two pages), I liked reading a few pages after my morning meditation, and a few more in the evening before going to bed. Bernstein, very much in tune with social media, has a inspirational quote at the end of each chapter just perfect to summarize the topic and to share with your twitter followers. I sent out on my twitter feed the ones that had the most impact on me, such as:

“People who value themselves attract people who value them, too.” — Kate Northrup #MiraclesNow
The key to getting what you want is to ASK FOR IT. #MiraclesNow
I surrender my desires & I know the Universe has my back. #MiraclesNow
You don’t need to find your purpose.Your purpose will find you. #MiraclesNow

Is twitter not your thing? You can “pin it, post it to Facebook, or pass it along on Instagram” instead, says Gabby.

In the lessons she shares Bernstein draws from two primary sources: insights from A Course In Miracles and from her Kundalini yoga practice. In my experience A Course In Miracles can be difficult to understand on your own. Bernstein explains it in simpler terms. The Course “is a metaphysical self-taught curriculum based on the principle that when we choose love over fear we experience miraculous change,” she says. The Kundalini exercises were new to me and most were easy to follow (this old guy didn’t try the one where Gabby recommends standing on your head for one minute, however :-) )

Bernstein’s practical and straight forward spiritual exercises reminded me of the writing of Louise Hay – Gabby is that good. “When you are called to share the spiritual awareness you now have, don’t hesitate to speak up. Be the lighthouse. In your light, others will become illuminated,” Bernstein concludes in the final pages. Reading Miracles Now gave me encouragement to spread my own light, as well as a bevy of simple spiritual tools for me to use now and in the future.

I wish Goodreads had a category for books that you continually read. I will continue to reference this one for its many tips.

I have dipped in and out of this book over several years and am pleased to have now finished it.
Over the period of time I was reading it, I have varied in opinion on its content. Now, I have reread the inner flap blurb and find that I wholeheartedly agree with the author’s aim of providing us with some quick and usually simple techniques to clear our minds of the stress and anxiety most of us feel at some time each day.
My particular favourite technique is number 102 entitled, When In Doubt, Play It Out. I have an obsessive personality trait that borders in addiction at times. This technique can be used for any addiction or obsessive destructive behaviour. It asks that you think through the consequences of your action before taking the first step. So for me, a one time shopping addict, I would think through my empty bank account, the inevitable buyers remorse and all the other negative consequences and I have broken this nasty little habit.
Of course, the person must really want to change, but this deals with the temptations that are always around, whatever your particular vice happens to be.
I hope that if any of the above feels a little close to the truth for anyone reading it, that you give this book a go. Even if my favourite is not yours, there are plenty more to try. 107 to be exact.

Miracles Now by Gabrielle Bernstein provides readers with “108 Life-Changing Tools for Less Stress, More Flow, and Finding Your True Purpose.” The author touches on all subjects that seem to spark stress in our everyday lives from financial difficulties, to anxiety, lack of sleep, and help in our overall relationships. Designed to be read one “tool” at a time, Miss. Bernstein provides uplifting, encouraging, and therapeutic remedies to help reconnect us with our Spirit, our highest self.

This was my first read by Gabrielle Bernstein, but it will most certainly not be last. I loved this book! I was hooked from “tool #1”, with the simple affirmation of “Happiness is a choice I make.” Just by saying these six simple words, I noticed an immediate change in my outlook, and my overall vibration.

As mentioned in the description above, there are 108 tools provided and they literally cover EVERYTHING. This book touches quite a bit on the importance of prayer and meditation, something I know I personally could definitely import more of into my life. The author also provides pictures of positions for mediation and yoga principles. There are even several tools on how to get better sleep, and honestly, after using one of the “before bed” breathing techniques, slept better than I had in weeks!

Overall, I LOVED this book and I will definitely be purchasing a copy for my personal use. This book will for sure be on my nightstand to be read every evening before bed. Fabulous read! I cannot wait to read more by this author! 4 stars!

If you are brand-new to the spiritual journey, and to Gabby's work, you will definitely find something useful here. There are a lot of great spiritual tips, suggestions, and practices to try.

If you have been following Gabby for awhile or have been on the spiritual path for awhile, there isn't anything new here. This book and her previous effort, "May Cause Miracles," seemed to me to be a repetitive repackaging of her earlier work and lectures. With MCM, I still enjoyed it, but hoped that she would come out with something new in the future. It seems like this is not the case.

I found myself skimming over so much of this book, because I had read it before in her other books and in thousands of other generic spiritual/ self-help titles. I also found myself rolling my eyes a great deal when it came to the author plugging her friends and promoting herself. There is nothing wrong with success, but it felt that the self-promoting qualities of this book overshadowed any inspiration I could have received from it.

First sentence: Over the last several years, our collective negativity and fear have adversely affected the economy, the environment, and the health of all beings on this planet.

Favorite quote: Happiness is a choice you make.

As I read more books on the subject of spirituality many authors are crossing over each others. Many I would never have heard of before without reading the previous book. I just love aspect as a part of seeking knowledge.
Gabrielle Bernstein has written several books and I intend to read them all. She is happy, insightful, wise, comical, friendly and approachable. Her tools written in this book are almost entirely something anyone in any belief system could benefit from. I was sold by the title of the first tool as is my favorite quote: Happiness is a choice you make. I make that choice every day.

I’m kinda bummed that I didn’t like this more. It took me forever to plod through and it just didn’t really speak to me. My husband kept asking why I didn’t just stop reading it, but it’s so hard for me to put down books I don’t love... there’s some good advice in here, and some good meditation techniques, but for some reason I just couldn’t get into it.

  • Andreea Zelenyak

A very quick and enjoyable read, full of tips about meditation, how to control your emotions, fears, ways to learn how to love and accept yourself, many mantras and ways to calm yourself down in stressful situations! I totally recommend!

  • Jenn

There is not enough good I can say about this book it came in to my hands just at the right time really changes your perspective on life.

  • ~Kristin~

I need a perspective change, fingers crossed this will help!!

This a great pick up, put down book for quick stress relieving strategies. Those familiar with a Course in Miracles or Kundalini Yoga will recognize the majority of the 108 take-away points. Bernstein has added examples from her own spiritual path as she has moved from drug addict to guru.
Boiler plate philosophy is the messages to: Ask for what you need, trust God to provide for highest good, be open to receive it, release expectation of outcome, be childlike in joy, snap out of (literally with rubberband) fear and anxiety, move to forgiveness and love, trust inner intuition/God to lead, treat obstacles as catalysts to growth, return greatest gift by teaching miracles.
Physical practices include a lot of different yoga meditations with hand mudras and chants in Sanskrit (Sat Nam). As a Christian I glossed over those. She does a good job explaining Tapping techniques to tap on points releasing pain and more importantly anxiety around pain. She covers the importance of daily inversions and rebounding on a trampoline.
Discernment is another critical component. She explains the technique of muscle testing (left thumb to pinkie, right thumb to index threads through and pull. If ring breaks choice makes you weak not good. If not, it's a solid choice.) She advocates flipping a coin with a decision in mind to uncover your intuitive desire and to play it out an hour, day, week, year, decade before jumping in with both feet.
She does a lot with visualization of Light, including bathing in Light & refracting Light within out to shower others and creating a shield of light to protect yourself. She stresses that 90% of change is just showing up and committing with conviction. What you think about you bring about, so change your thought patterns and expect a miracle.

Although I found this book helpful, it is tainted by the fact that it was a complete repeat of Gabrielle's lecture. I've attended a couple of Gabrielle's seminars and while the information is useful, it is completely recycled from previous presentations. After reading "Spirit Junkie" and hearing the first lecture, I was excited by the prospect of approaching spirituality,in profound, but concrete and realistic ways. It prompted me to reach out to Gabrielle and sign up for her website and newsletter. I was immediately bombarded by e-mails that occurred on a daily basis, often occuring twice a day. The emails consisted of constant advertisements apprising followers of her upcoming lectures seminars. Additionally, she encouraged people to tweet the information from prompting them what to say. This is sensory overload for people who already have a lot on their plates, which ironically she purports in this book. The book is geared towards people who are already busy and only have a set amount of time to dedicate towards spiritual practice.

It is also shameless self-promotion, which is completely out of line with spiritual understanding. It's become a total turn off and makes me think that Gabrielle is only concerned with advertising and not helping others. I understand that people have to promote their information, but but this "in your face"/attitude goes against every spiritual practice that is out there. The information speaks for itself. The only reason I am writing this semi-negative review is because I really like Gabrielle and am greatful for her work, but I think she needs to fine-tune her approach.

  • Toni

It took me awhile to wade through the 108 tools in this book. The end of each chapter gave you a sentence you could tweet with the hashtag #miraclesnow. I found it to be a mishmash of many concepts that have been out there for years but not necessarily all put into one place.

I enjoyed reading her take on all these tools and how she implemented them into her own life.

If you enjoy self help or law of attraction or Course in Miracles stuff, you should definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) from NetGalley in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

    # 25 : Klopf diesen Stress weg

EFT?

She has some really good nuggets of truth.
    Such as:

-doing a shoulder stand for 15 minutes is equivalent to 2 hrs of sleep.

-you can tell your dominant side(this is the foot that should hit the floor 1st when getting out of bed) by breathing out of one nostril at a time. Whichever side is clogged more is not your dominant side.

-you get a natural love rush by giving someone a 20 sec hug, smiling and lastly, placing your hands on your heart and breathing in loving feelings.

    - emphaths are sympathetic to others, have intuition and are sensitive and generally lean toward these kinds of books. Be careful not to take on the pain of others. Empaths are generally problem solvers and peace makers. (Pretty sure I'm one since this og spoke to me!) Imagine a shield of light/love surrounding you. This protects you from absorbing neg energy.

    - when u feel stressed or neg take a minute to think of what u are grateful for. Instant mood boost!

-stop being a victim! Own up to what u could have done to bring this on and move forward a better happier person!

-stop trying to control things. Surrender your agenda , use positive intuition and PRAY and you will have the highest positive outcome possible! Don't wait to pray. Get those good vibes all the time! (Pretty amazing promise right?!)

-offering love and kindness boosts your nervous system! Love yourself and others.

-worry is a prayer for chaos

The book offers easy step by step instructions on tapping (which I've used before and amazing cured my sciatica!)
But also has a ton of mediation and alternative healings (not sure what to call them, voudoo??) I'm not really into spending the time practicing these so I can't judge. Personally I've had extreme success w Alexander Lloyd's healing codes so I stick with that. Not to say what she suggests won't work but I am curious as to why certain poses work?

So a fair amount of the book has these meditative poses (and it was overwhelming w so many poses and for so many minutes) that brings the book down to 3 stars for me. Its just not applicable to me personally. However since there are also a good number of some really great truths, I gave it 4 stars.

It’s ok. It’s a quick read. It’s basic. So basic, you often feel close to a breakthrough of clarity, but not close enough. It falls short, because they are obvious, well known tools, but easier said than done tools.
For example, biting back in anger during conflict, you are no different to the person who’s showing anger towards you, I really do agree with this, it’s important to be transparent with yourself with your own behaviours, the only tip offered, however is to be aware of this. This scenario is quite a common scenario, but HOW do you deal with this, is what the answer should have addressed - react with peace and love? Some people are just unreasonable, so you just “tell your truth” and leave? Does this really translate well to real life? Negotiating a divorce? Custody? Unfairness in the workplace?
I think there has to be some sort of realism to be considered when taking the advice of self help gurus, though overall, I did find the book helpful. It’s a quick read with some easy techniques.

I'm all about energy and trusting that the universe has my back and is constantly guiding me on my journey. This book taught me even more ways to enhance my energy and strengthen my relationship with the universe. The tips were completely relevant and I found myself implementing them into my life seamlessly and I noticed immediate benefits. Gabrielle offers simple, but highly effective methods to make your life less stressful while opening up your eyes to how wonderful life can be if we just trust the universe and put out good energy into the world.

This book changed my life forever. Excellent book to boost your spirits and remind yourself how good you have it. I have extracted from the book some paragraphs that I like best in order to introduce this good book to the readers:

    "Comparing is a nasty habit."

    "Get honest about your fear"

Thanks and Wish you and your family health and success.

Though not the Kindle edition, I read the ebook edition from my local library. I love Gabby Bernstein, and this is very powerful book with simple but effective tips and tools for changing persepective. The only reason I give this four stars is that I don't really like how she gives an affirmation to tweet for every section. Possibly because I don't necessarily want to be on Twitter all the time, but it sometimes made me feel like it wasn't going to work if I didn't tweet. I didn't tweet, but I still felt the effects of the affirmations for myself.

I appreciate any information of spiritual, emotional, and relationship growth.
I was not familiar with Bernstein's work before reading Miracles Now, and I found some helpful information regarding emotional balance.
The tips were not life changing or particularly memorable, but they were helpful.

I read this over a long period of time, in parts. I wonder if it would be more helpful if I would read each lesson as the issue arose in my life (like a reference). Maybe I will refer back some day.

  • Louise

This is a handy book to dip into as and when you feel you need some assistance - particularly if you're open to meditation, yoga, and identify as somewhat spiritual. Gabby covers different techniques that you can use, from tapping to a variety of meditations with guidance on what to do with your hands and fingers, to breathing exercises and yoga poses. Each method is short (2-3 pages), succinct, and easy to follow - good to use as reference book.

  • Shannon

This book contains 108 excellent tools/messages that serve as a reminder that life is better lived from a state of love, rather than from our fears. I read one message a day, contemplating on the message throughout my day. I connected on some level to almost all of the messages. Now that I have read the book through, this will be a very good resource to open to a random page and read the message the Universe has for me that day.

  • Kaia

I’ve followed Gabby for years, have all of her car decks but this is the first book I picked up after exploring my local Barnes & Noble. I love Gabby‘s message and the way she relates to her readers, even though I don’t personally struggle with a substance addiction there’s so much in this book that speaks to unhealthy habits that I may have incorporated. I feel such a breath of fresh air after reading so much value and can’t wait to pick up my next book from Gabby.
