Abraham Lincoln (Graphic Nonfiction Biographies) Reviews

  • David Corleto-Bales

The life of Abraham Lincoln in graphic novel form, however, with not as much emphasis on his personality as I would have liked, but a fairly easy to follow summary of the Civil War and issues that caused it. One of his speeches during the debates with Stephen Douglas was edited in such a way as to be more favorable to Lincoln, which I found unfortunately obfuscating.

  • Laurel Benson

It was a fast read of a graphic novel on audiobook. Had interesting information that I had not heard before or had forgotten from my youth ;)

  • JJ Broenner

I found the information to be accurate and interesting in a graphic novel format. It does a good summary of the time lines and events of Lincoln’s presidency.

  • Shelli

Typically I love non-fiction graphic novels for people not interested enough, or have the attention span for, larger chapter book on the person or topic. This one was just o.k. for me though. I felt that the story line and graphics painted Lincoln in a darker light. Yes, I know he was a human like the rest of us that most definitely had a darker side; however, I do not feel this book showcased his positive qualities enough to overshadow the bad.

If you're wanting a quick read on who Abraham Lincoln was and the years he served during the Civil War, then this book is for you. Done in a graphic novel style theme, this book shows you the highlights of his life and times. I just can't get used to the illustrations in this series and the cover art on this book showcases that I think.

  • Amanda Hannon

This is my first graphic read and it was good. I love Abraham and this sums up the civil war quick.

  • Lynda

I enjoyed this, but the second grader I read it to found it hard to relate to.
