When a secret message turns up hidden in a book in the Cinnamon Bun Bookstore, Hazel can't understand it. As more secret codes appear between the pages, she decides to follow the trail of clues… she just need someone to help her out.
Gorgeous and outgoing fisherman, Noah, is always up for an adventure. And a scavenger hunt sounds like a lot of fun. Even better that the cute bookseller he's been crushing on for months is the one who wants his help!
Hazel didn’t go looking for romance, but as the treasure hunt leads her and Noah around Dream Harbor, their undeniable chemistry might be just as hot as the fresh-out-of-the-oven cinnamon buns the bookstore sells…

The Pumpkin Spice Café - Book 1.
I can't wait for fall. 🍂🍁🌰🥧❤️ -
Currently reading the Pumpkin Spice Café and I’m absolutely loving it so far!! But I’m guessing this will be Hazel and Noah’s story, so I’m definitely looking forward to that awkwardness between the two 🩷

~Small-Town Romance, He Falls First, Opposites Attract, Mystery, and more!~
The Cinnamon Bun Book Store by Laurie Gilmore is a cozy small-town romance. Hazel is months away from turning thirty and can't help but feel she has wasted her twenties playing it safe. After some mysterious marked-up books appear in The Cinnamon Bun Book Store, she decides to take it as a sign and live the last couple months of her twenties up following the clues and having fun. With the help of the younger, handsome fisherman, Noah, will she find out who is leaving the clues? Will she finally stop playing it safe? Will she and Noah turn into something more?
3.5| This was a very cozy and easy read. I initially did not know it was part of a series, but I am now very interested in reading the first book better to understand the town and context of the side characters. Hazel's character is very relatable and felt like someone who could be a real person, not just a book character. I loved her growth from being insecure to being happy and confident in herself and her body. Even though Noah and Hazel are such opposites, I felt they had a lot of good chemistry and bounced off each other's energy well. Seeing both perspectives was nice and helped me understand where both characters were and how they felt about the relationship. I do wish this book was a little more heavy on the mystery aspect. There isn't really any conflict besides the lack of communication between the characters about their feelings. It got a little frustrating, and at times, I just wanted to yell at them to say how they felt about each other.
One thing that bothered me was some of the wording of the sentences. It felt a little awkward at times. I also wasn't particularly a fan of hearing about Noah's past experiences. While it helped me understand who the character was, it felt a bit much. I did love Noah's character growth and his relationship with his family progress. I would have loved to see Hazel meet his family and a more in-depth scene of Noah meeting Hazels family formally. The town felt very cozy and very realistic with everyone being in eachother business. I loved Hazels friendships and how much she relays on her friends. I wish we saw more of Hazel's relationship with her parents. I would have liked to see a little bit more between the end of the book and the epilogue.
Overall, this book was cozy and quick to read. I loved the characters and their personality. The town of Dream Harbor is adorable and one I'll definitely be interested in reading more about. I was so excited to read this book and even more excited to see what's next. The cozy vibes of this book can't be beat.
*I received this book through Harper 360 via NetGalley as an eARC reader. This will not in any way affect my thoughts or opinions on the book* -
”i was prepared to read every damn book in that bookstore just to spend more time with you.”₊ ⊹
my thoughts┊ aww! this one was so sweet.
i’m absolutely loving the town of dream harbor; it’s giving inglewild (b.k borison) and westport (tessa bailey) and i would love to go to there. i think i’d fit right in!
definitely think i enjoyed this one a little more than the pumpkin spice cafe. the characters were more fleshed out, as was the relationship, and i really enjoyed the plot progression! this was such a fun story, and i loved seeing everything wrap up in the end. i pretty much binge read this in one sitting just now because i was so in love with the way things were turning out!
hazel was a very relatable main character, and i loved seeing her find her spark again! noah was the perfect match for her; i absolutely adored his character. their romance was so sweet and offered a small amount of angst that made it *chef’s kiss* wonderful. his grand gesture at the end totally had me tearing up a bit!
this series is a fun, low stakes adventure that gives off optimal cozy vibes and good times. very happy i decided to pick it up, and i can’t wait to see what’s next! ᡣ𐭩
huge thank you to netgalley and harper 360 for providing me with an arc in exchange for a honest review! -
Thank you, NetGalley, for providing me with this ARC! Very similarly to the first book in the Dream Harbor series, I found the Cinnamon Bun Book Store nearly impossible to put down. The characters are just so loveable, you want them to just get together already!!! There were a few spots where I think the pacing came across as a little funky, but overall this was a great read and I will definitely be recommending it to others. Thank you again!

✨ The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore✨
I absolutely loved The Pumpkin Spice Cafe last fall and was super excited to take another trip to Dream Harbour.
Hazel is just a few months shy of turning 30 and she’s feeling stuck. Having felt like her twenties were too calm and unremarkable, she wants to start being adventurous before her birthday.
This has all of my favourite things wrapped in one. Small towns, books, and romance. But more than anything Hazel is one of the most relatable characters I have ever read about. Also soon turning 30, I find myself in a rut most days and like Hazel, I too am craving adventure and fun. Both of our main characters have incredible character growth/development which adds so much depth to a sweet and easy binge read.
Much like in the first book, all of the town residents of Dream Harbour make appearances and my love for this odd little town grew double in size.
The Chemistry between Hazel and Noah is off the charts and while at times a little spicy everything else is just soooo good that I can easily over look that tidbit. They are my new favourite fictional couple and will have you believing in happily ever afters again.
Overall, I’m ready to continue on with this series and you can too when this book hits shelves in September -

What to expect:
📚 Forced proximity
☀️ Small town romance
📚 Literal cinnamon bun MMC
☀️ Cozy mystery
📚 Summer Adventures
☀️ Swoon worthy moments, followed by steamy spice
Laurie Gilmore delivered a strong second book in the Dream Harbour interconnected series! I was very excited about this after enjoying The Pumpkin Spice Cafe last fall. I have so far really enjoyed the small town vibes, with found family, and the townspeople quirks.
Hazel and Noah's Summer of Fun (HANSOF!!!!) starts due to Hazel's fear of turning 30 in a few months, without feeling like she has truly lived. Add in a cozy mystery in her bookstore, where clues are being left in her books, and a handsome fisherman with the hots for Hazel... It equals a summer she won't forget!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I look forward to continuing the series as new books are released. This book was significantly spicier than her last book and it did not disappoint! Laurie Gilmore's writing is simple but effective, and often feels like a warm blanket. You just want to cozy up and binge read these stories.
While I enjoyed the plot and the characters, I highly dislike the miscommunication trope in books. It was relevant to the story at least, but it was frustrating too. It contributed to a bit of pacing issues in some spots of the book, but overall I still liked the book and would recommend it to others! A great end of summer story ☀️ -
First I would love to thank Harper 360 and NetGalley for the arc of "The Cinnamon Bun Book Store" by Laurie Gilmore.
This book literally has my favorite tropes opposites attract, small town, forced proximity, and he falls first!
So far out of this year, I have to say this was my favorite read and definitely in my Top 5 books! I enjoyed how Hazel and Noah were not perfect (like in real life) and that we could definitely relate to the main characters (honestly all the characters). Ever since I read The Pumpkin Spice Cafe, and heard about The Cinnamon Bun Cafe, I immediately added it to my TBR! These two books were perfect and I really don't think I can thank NetGalley and Harper 360 enough!!! You guys will definitely enjoy this cozy read!! -
I wanna begin by thanking the author and publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I really do appreciate it and I will always be honest when it comes to ARCS.
Rating: ∞ /5 stars
If I could sell my soul to reread this book I fear I would. Noah is the new standard and no one can convince me otherwise, everything about this whole book was perfect. The only downside was the third person POV I usually hate it but I don’t even mind that it’s in third person. After reading this I really don’t know if I’ll ever find someone who loves me like Noah loves Hazel. I was giggling and smiling through the whole book. This was my first book by this author and it won’t be my last I will reccomend this book to probably every soul alive. This book was perfection. -
Thank you Harper 360 and NetGalley for this ARC
While this book did take place during the summer, it’s the perfect cozy romance for fall. Make it make sense??? I loved everything about this. If I am being honest I never read the first book but this one was amazing so I think I need to go back and read immediately! -
This was a total delight! I really enjoyed the Pumpkin Spice cafe, and was so looking forward to more in the Dream Harbor world with the characters we were introduced to in book 1. I wasn't disappointed. Hazel and Noah have great chemistry from the start, and I love that they complement each other's personalities so well - Noah bringing a more carefree, fun-loving side that Hazel has neglected, and Hazel able to give Noah more confidence in his achievements and the impetus to reconnect with his estranged family. This series is THE perfect comfort read for me, exactly the equivalent of a warm cinnamon bun. I can't wait for more adventures from the Dream Harbor gang and they're definitely going on my TBR list.

The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore is so so good, and I would argue it’s even better than the first book in the series, The Pumpkin Spice Café! It’s an adorable small-town romance between bookseller Hazel and fisherman Noah, who have been attracted to each other since the first time they met.
Hazel was turning thirty in a few months and realized that she felt stuck in her life, having the same job, same friends, and being in the same town for so long, she wanted to experience some fun and adventure before she hit that milestone in her life. Her character is very relatable; she’s somehow satisfied with how her life is going, being in her comfort zone and all, but feels like there’s more she can do and experience.
Coincidentally, she finds defaced books in her bookshop, dog-eared and with some highlighted passages, seemingly giving her clues on how to have fun. Seeking Noah’s help, the fisherman who doesn’t do long-term relationships, they complete or do each activity highlighted in each book Hazel finds at the bookstore, and with each activity, their attraction for each other grows stronger, and I swear their banter never fails to make me smile! And while they were only doing those fun activities as friends (but honestly I feel like they’re dates with all Noah and Hazel’s flirting!), I can’t help but think that Noah was getting free date ideas from the books’ clues. (But he did come through at the end with a huge grand romantic gesture – which was one of the sweetest ones I have read thus far - *swooonnnn*)
Both Hazel and Noah’s character growth in this book was very evident – with Noah’s help, Hazel was able to get past her insecurities, and Noah finally had that sense of being enough for somebody – their growth made this book all the more satisfying to read.
The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore was such a fun and easy read, with lots of chemistry and spice from the main characters, and the other characters in Dream Harbor being the ever-nosy but supportive bunch, I would highly recommend you guys pick this up when it releases next month! Ready your pumpkin spice lattes and autumn music playlist for a full Dream Harbor reading experience. -
The Cinnamon Bun BookStore - Laurie Gilmore
I loved The Pumpkin Spice Cafe and fell in-love with the small town of Dream Harbour! #Dreamers
The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore gave me everything I needed from an easy read and was the perfect addition to the Dream Harbour series!
This book was simple and relatable as Hazel is quickly approaching 30 and feeling like she has nothing to show for it. Known as an ‘old lady at heart’, Hazel has a comfortable, predictable routine running the local bookstore as she has done since she left high school. But as the daughter of the mayor approaches her milestone birthday, Hazel realises she didn’t have the exciting 20’s that everybody else did.
That is until, she spots one of the books at the store peeking out of the shelf and upon further inspection, notices a dog-eared page with a highlighted passage. These seemingly random clues begin to appear randomly and after confiding in regular customer and local fisherman Noah, they decide to use the passages from the books to make up for the lack of memories before Hazel turns 30!
Hazel and Noah’s Summer of Fun (HANSOF!!) consists of plenty of romantic and sometimes dramatic experiences, but as Hazel’s birthday is approaching, there seems to be an expiry date on HANSOF.
The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore is a really cosy and easy read. I read it in less than 24 hours, eager to learn what the next clue was and more importantly, who was leaving them? Each of Noah and Hazel’s encounters has an urgency to it, making it just as romantic as they navigate their feelings and life choices throughout.
“She was the tart spark of blueberries on his tongue, she was salt air and rainy days, she was the perfect book. She was kisses and secret smiles. She was everything.”
Thank you Netgalley and One More Chapter for the arc in return for an honest review! -
Laurie Gilmore returns to Dream Harbor with another delightful tale in The Cinnamon Bun Book Store, a cozy romantic mystery that blends sweetness with intrigue.
As a fan of Laurie Gilmore’s first installment in the Dream Harbor series, I was excited to dive into this next chapter, and it didn’t disappoint. The “he falls first” trope is a personal favorite, and Noah perfectly embodies the sweet, devoted male lead that makes these stories so enjoyable. His affection for Hazel is palpable and endearing, and I loved watching him gently coax her out of her shell, encouraging her to embrace the adventurous spirit she didn’t realise she had.
Hazel’s character arc is another highlight of the book. Her journey toward self-discovery, where she learns that bravery and adventure are already within her, is both heartwarming and empowering. It’s refreshing to see a heroine who doesn’t need to change herself to find love but instead grows more confident in who she already is.
While the story is undeniably charming, it does fall into the common pitfall of the miscommunication trope. The issues between Hazel and Noah could have been resolved with a simple conversation, which made the conflict feel somewhat contrived. That said, this trope is a staple of the genre, and while it’s not my favourite, it does add the necessary drama to keep the plot moving.
The Cinnamon Bun Book Store may not have surpassed the warmth and charm of The Pumpkin Spice Café, but it is still a delightful, easy read that fans of small-town romances will adore. With its likable characters, sweet romance, and a dash of mystery, it’s the perfect book to devour in one sitting. Laurie Gilmore has once again crafted a story that feels like a warm hug, complete with the scent of cinnamon buns wafting through the pages. If you’re in the mood for a light-hearted romance with a happy ending guaranteed, this book is a great pick. -
*Thank you to Netgalley and One More Chapter for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.*
The second instalment takes readers back to the beloved town of Dream Harbour and follows bookseller Hazel and fisherman Noah in this treasure seeking adventure – but what these two don’t know is the treasure they're seeking doesn’t always come in a glittering gold treasure chest. Hazel is soon to turn 30 and she is stuck, but when a mystery book defacer sprinkles a trail of breadcrumbs she enlists the help of Noah to discover the clues.
This is an unputdownable book that I devoured within days. The pacing and plot is perfect with the right amount of spice - although it may not be everyone's taste. This book has all the elements that the author got so right in the first book and continued to develop this town of interesting personalities. Both Hazel and Noah grow as characters and help each other to find their way in life. Laurie Gilmore creates enough mystery to hook readers and then swoops them off their feet with a cute romance between Hazel and Noah. Dream Harbour is not short of a vibrant and hilarious cast of characters to help breathe life into the already charming town. And I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I’d love to be a fly on the wall in those book club meetings! I liked the inclusion of Jeanie and Logan from the first book and how they interact with Noah and Hazel.
Overall this is a charming, cute and easy to read romance. -
4.5⭐️
'The type of day people wanted to be running around outside, not browsing the shelves of a bookstore. Not that Hazel understood that line of reasoning. She always wanted to browse the shelves of a bookstore.'
'Because what more did one need besides good friends, good books, and the occasional cinnamon bun?'
Thank you so much, One More Chapter, for allowing me an ARC of this book. I absolutely loved it!
After how much I loved book 1 (The Pumpkin Spice Cafe), I had high hopes for this one, and it didn't disappoint. It had the same small town, cutsey vibes with great characters, and a dash of spice.
Hazel manages the local book store and has worked there since we was 15 working her way up to management with 2 months until she turns 30 she realises she's been stuck in abit of a rut for a while. Enter a mystery scavenger hunt hidden in the pages of some of the books the shop sells.
Hazel needs a had to work out these clues, and who is better to help than the gorgeous fisherman Noah, who just so happens to find an excuse to pop into the bookshop and buy a book.
This book has friends to lovers, golden retriever MMC, and an FMC who doesn't quite realise how amazing she is. I loved seeing the precious characters as well and also the subtle hints on what we can expect from book 3.
If you love a hallmark romance or you just want to boost some joy in your life, then I highly recommend this book. -
*Thank you Harper 360 & NetGalley for this ARC to review The Cinnamon Bun Book Store* All opinions are my own.
Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 🌶️ 2.5
Hazel is a 29 year old living a pretty mediocre life in the small town of Dream Harbor. She is tired of doing the same thing everyday and never living life on the edge, so she enlists the very attractive local fisherman known as Noah to help her live life more recklessly before she turns 30. Noah is 25 and very interested in Hazel even though Hazel doesn’t see it for herself.
The story is really cute set in this very cozy small town. The summer is ending so Hazel and Noah are going on *dates* based on clues from spicy romance novels at the book store Hazel works at.
It gets a little tiring towards the end of the book with how much either of them won’t just admit how much they each have fallen for each other. They’re adults— be real! Stop beating around the bush. lol. The spice is nice but not overly naughty 😈.
This was my first book in the series and I felt it was fine that I read it as a standalone.
I really did like the book overall, it made me feel cozy and ready for a pumpkin spice latte at the Pumpkin Spice Cafe. Now I also want warm cinnamon buns.. and to read another book by this author in this series.
If you like cozy spicy romance pick this one up this fall! -

A huge thank you to One More Chapter, Netgalley, and Laurie Gilmore for granting me access to this ARC!
Laurie Gilmore’s second book of her Dream Harbor series did not disappoint! After reading (and absolutely LOVING!!!) The Pumpkin Spice Cafe last fall, I was thrilled to read the second installment of this wonderfully cozy and cute series. This is a perfectly quintessential small town romance with a cozy mystery element, late summer adventures, swoon worthy moments throughout, and spice.
Hazel, who is turning 30 soon and has been very responsible throughout her twenties, sets out to do something different and go on an exciting adventure. The opportunity arises when she starts finding random clues in the books from the bookstore where she works. This gives Noah, the sexy fisherman who has been harboring a crush on Hazel, the opportunity to spend more time with her. As the story progresses, we see Hazel become more carefree and fun-loving, while Noah grows in confidence. Overall, such great character development! Hazel and Noah have incredible chemistry and their differing personalities work well together.
This entire series is so comforting and I can’t wait for the next Dream Harbor book!
Tropes:
- friends to lovers
- opposites attract
- small town romance

Fave quote:
“I was prepared to read every damn book in that bookstore just to spend more time with you”
This is book 2 in the Dream Harbour series. You can read in order or as standalone.
This is the perfect cozy book for fall. I absolutely loved every minute of it. This was a quick light read with all the small town fall vibes I love.
Hazel is very relatable and I enjoyed watching her character develop and grow from insecure to confident.
Noah is charming, uncommitted, town player but when he starts to fall for Hazel we see his character development flourish.
I loved watching their relationship go from friends and grow into more. They are adorable together. The grand gesture at the end had my heart melting.
I absolutely fell in love with Dream Harbour and I cannot wait to read more!
Read if you enjoy

Thank you, Harper 360, for sending me an ARC. I really enjoyed the first book and thought it was super cute. I was excited to continue the series and was happy to get the chance to read an ARC. Sadly this one fell flat for me. I ended up DNFing at page 86. This may be one I come back to later, however I just felt that it was dragging. I don’t like how the main conflict in this is so similar to the conflict in the first book. The main characters are struggling with if they are a fling or if they could be more. It’s so similar to the first one and it was kind of boring. The main mystery of the story sadly didn’t pull me in either. I thought that the main couple were cute at times but they just could not carry the story. It was nice to get to see more of the town and the different characters. I also like how we got a summer setting to see the town in a different season. Also it’s split POV which I did enjoy because you saw both the character motivations. Sadly though I would not recommend this book.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions.
When I read the Pumpkin Spice cafe I couldn’t wait for the next in the series and let me tell you this one did not disappoint! I read this is one sitting and I was hooked! I think I may have even liked this one better.
Hazel is a 29 year old book seller who has never really had any adventures in her life. Now she’s two months away from turning 30 and she wants to have adventures before her big birthday. Then one day someone starts leaving book askew in her shop…but once she goes to fix them she notices they are dog eared and passages are highlighted. She doesn’t think anything about it until she mentions it to the hot local fisherman who mentions they might be clues to a scavenger hunt. So she recruits him to help her and they go on a huge scavenger hunt to have adventures before her birthday! But will love be her biggest adventure of all?
This was such a fun cozy read.
4/5 stars and I would highly recommend this whole series so far! -
Ahh, this was so cute and was a quick read that left me in a good mood.
Thank you to Edelweiss and the publisher for the DRC.
I didn't realize this was a second book in a series when I started, but I'm glad that it could be read as a standalone as well. I really enjoyed the MCs, and their issues felt so real.
One was fed up with playing it safe, and the other needed to believe in himself. They rounded each other out well and fell into a comfortable friendship/pseudo relationship really quickly. I loved that there was no 3rd act breakup and that the miscommunication wasn't drawn out forever.
The end scene when Noah was confessing his love, but she stopped him because he was downplaying himself, made me tear up. They're so whipped for one another!
If you're looking for a cure, HEA story with not too much drama outside being your own enemy at times, this one is for you. It's time to get my hands on a copy of the first book now. -
The perfect end of summer read! Hazel and Noah’s love story was adorable. Just like the first in the series I continue to find myself charmed by the fictional town of Dream Harbor. If I could live in any fictional town - it’s Dream Harbor. The secondary characters are just so quirky and endearing. If you loved the first book or even if you love Gilmore Girls - this is a must read! I flew through the book. It was really sweet that Hazel and Noah discovered new parts of themselves together. They really brought out the best in each other. Don’t let the cozy name fool you there is still spice 😉 I enjoyed the cozy mystery aspect of trying to figure out who was leaving clues in the bookstore to encourage Hazel to get out of her comfort zone and have fun! I found her character to be so relatable. I won’t give away any spoilers but that ending was so sweet! Truly the perfect ending.
-
This book is exactly a warm cinnamon bun. I can't wait for more adventures from Dream Harbor!
This book was a delight! I adored The Pumpkin Spice cafe, and I couldn't wait to jump back into the Dream Harbor world.
This series has that small-town charm that I love. Hazel and Noah have great chemistry from the start, and I love that they complement each other's personalities so well - Noah brings a more carefree, fun-loving side that Hazel has neglected, and Hazel is able to give Noah more confidence in his achievements and the impetus to reconnect with his estranged family.
This series is the perfect comfort read for me, I read this book within a day in the sun. I highly recommend reading this book it is fun and cute and you just get lost in Dream Harbor. -
I am so glad to be back in Dream Harbor! I adored the first book and found it so cosy and I loved that this followed Hazel who works at The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore. As she approaches her thirtieth birthday she begins to feel stuck and in need of adventure. She discovers a hidden message in a book in the romance section, urging her to have some fun or some adventure over the summer. Noah, the sexy fisherman, offers to help her follow the clues and have an adventurous summer. However, Noah has liked Hazel for a long time, but Hazel thinks Noah only does casual relationships. As the story progresses we see Hazel come out of her shell and accept herself, we also see Noah grow in confidence. Overall this was super sweet but also super sexy and I loved it.
-
Hazel owns the Cinnamon Bun Book Store in Dream Harbor. She is approaching 30 and wants to change her single status. Noah, a local fisherman, has taken an interest in Hazel. When Hazel discovers books with highlighted passages, she begins to wonder. She asks Noah to help her figure it out. What will she discover? Who is doing this? Will this lead her to a love interest?
A fun and entertaining book with a satisfying ending. I loved the mystery element in this book! When books are being left in her bookstore with highlighted passages, Hazel has to figure out who is doing it, which sends her on a scavenger hunt. Such a clever premise! If you love cozy mysteries, then this book is for you! A perfect book to read with a cup of tea!
Thanks to Harper 360, I was provided an ARC of The Cinnamon Bun Book Store by Laurie Gilmore via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
