Simone de Beauvoir : A Feminist Mandarin Reviews

This overview of Simone de Beauvoir’s contributions to feminism is outdated. Published before the release of Beauvoir’s letters to Sartre, the author omits the predatory behavior of Beauvoir in grooming young students for Sartre. Existentialism rests on individuals making their own conscious choices about social constructs but by almost any definition, she abandoned feminist tenets by putting her contract with Sartre above all else.

The book was really repetitive in some areas, but proved to be a good introduction to the thought and context of the work of Simone de Beauvoir.
