Textual Relations (Gotcha Detective Agency Mysteries #2) Reviews
-
A quick read with a very good mystery dealing with the ugliness of pedophiles and sexual abuse within one's own home. And how easy it has gotten for kids to be lured via social media and texts. The book didn't get gruesome on these matters but went deeply enough to bring home the point. As far as the writing, etc., it flowed well, though a little bit of editing would have been good. I have the third in the series on the wish list.

Mimi is an idiot.

What a great series, and all except the latest audiobooks are available through Hoopla at your library. The books and are short, fast reads, ending that kept you wanting to read the next book in the series. Glad I found this series.

3.5⭐️ Not a bad little book. Read in one sitting and it keep me engaged and was entertaining.

I actually purchased this for my Kindle after reading the first book in the series that was free. Just like drugs...
Mimi comes into work and finds an ugly parental situation. Her partner Jackie suspects her tween daughter is hiding something boy-related so confiscated all of her electronic devices. Jackie was right to be worried, her daughter was sexting with a pedophile. The search for the pedophile turns into a murder and kidnapping investigation.
I like these characters a lot. Mimi is cool, Charles is awesome and Nick the detective/former boyfriend is showing some layers. I'll probably buy the next book. -
wish there were more

In Textual Relations Mimi Capurro and the Gotcha Detective Agency get involved in a case after one of the ladies that works for her starts having some problems with her teen daughter. She knows she is hiding something and when they find some things on her laptop that doesn’t send out good vibes they go and decide to check out the predators home only to find him dead.
Then they find out that Jackie had been their before they got there and now she is the number one suspect, though there are a lot of people who could have wanted to see this nasty man dead. Mimi wants to give Jackie the benefit of the doubt cause she really doesn’t think she did it so she works with Nick the detective in charge and her former casual boyfriend from her younger days. He is still just as hunky now as he was then and she isn’t sure if she wants to go down that road again or not, but they do work well together.
This is one were I didn’t feel much sympathy for the dead guy and nobody else really did either but it was more of finding out what happened and hoping that their friend didn’t do it. There is also a missing teen and now with the man dead they don’t know were to look and it has an interesting turn of events at the end.
I like all the characters as it has some really good secondary characters to keep things going well. I am curious to see how things play out with Mimi and Nick.
I am enjoying this series and I think if your a cozy lover that you would enjoy them too. -
Another good one
When I discovered some of what was going on in the book I got nervous about the seriousness and possible details that would come to life in the book. As I continued to read I was glad that it wouldn't make me lose sleep. The romance side of it has me going stir crazy! Enjoying the storyline and the surprises along the way. -
Jamie Lee Scott doesn't disappoint. A well put together mystery story with our beloved Mimi Capurro whom I fell in love with in the 1st Gotcha mystery, Let Us Prey. This book can be read as a stand alone too however there are many references to the 1st book in this.

On to the 3rd book
Great series. Fun characters and a slow slimmer of romance to tease us. As soon I finish one book I have to buy the next! -
3.5
This is a fun series
The content in this 2nd book was harder to read about since it involved kids... -

Love this series! I live in Salinas, the town Mimi lives in, and it's fun to recognize streets and places. It's a timely story about dangerous of online chatting for teens.

This was one of the novels included in the anthology 'Dangerous Dames' which was free on Amazon and was a terrific freebie. It included seven books and every one was a keeper by a terrific female author.
I loved this story about Mimi and Charles and her crazy detective agency that got into lots of trouble because of her best friend's daughter texting her boyfriend. It was a cute story and I liked it enough to have bought every book written by Jamie Lee Scott in this series. I'll be reading more of her books as she publishes. She is funny, clever, and makes it sound like such fun to be a detective. I bought her next 4 books and will continue to read her funny stories. -
I liked the storyline about the missing girl, but it wrapped up way to quickly and there wasn't sufficient explanation concerning what really happened. I also do not like the way Nick is sending Mimi mixed messages. We all know that eventually, in one of these books, the hubby will be found alive, because unless there is a body, there isn't really a death in literature. I wish it would hurry up and happen and then this thing with Mimi and Nick can be resolved one way or the other.
