Author Mary Alford really knows how to spin an inspirational romantic suspense story. Danger lurks around every corner for amnesiac Faith, and securities professional JT is determined to protect her even when he becomes a target as well. Despite unanswered questions about the true identities of both Faith and her stalker, plus the threat of a hurricane, love finds a way. A page-turner that kept me guessing right up to the end!

    Suspense, Mystery, Romance!

This is the first book that I have read by author Mary Alford. It definitely will not be my last.

If you are looking for a good Suspense, mystery, romance thriller, look no further. This book has it all. This is one of the best Christian fiction thrillers I have read this year. I was taken through a gamut of emotions. I could feel the terror that Faith McKenzie was going through. I don’t know how many times I was on the edge of my seat.

The author did a great job of making you feel as if you were right there. My heart was in my throat so many times. On the other hand, there was a sweet romance going on during the not so tense moments.

I read this book in a day. It was that good. I completely shut out my world to live in Faith’s world.

There were so many twists and turns in this story that I have to tell you, I didn’t see a few things coming until the end.

Thank you author Mary Alford. What a thrilling, chilling, ride!

Forgotten Past is a good, quick, evening read. I felt the plot twist(s) coming quite a bit ahead of time, but otherwise it had a good level of suspense.

Forgotten Past was such an exciting, fast-paced, and suspenseful novel! There were so many twists and turns and such confusion over events of the past. It was very easy to see how Faith’s amnesia regarding not only her life but also about the murders of Carl and Rachel were impacting her ability to figure out who was threatening her.

It was very interesting to watch JT and his team work to unravel the discrepancies and try to put together all of the missing pieces in order to truly bring the one responsible to justice. I really liked the two main characters and their interactions together. This very thrilling story was full of romance and plenty of nerve-wracking moments!

"Fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat action and false leads make this a keeper that gets more engaging as the story progresses. Faith is a strong character who shows that, despite insurmountable odds, God is in control (RT Book Reviews)". 4 1/2 stars

Rating is actually a 3.5. The storyline was great and extremely intriguing, but the romance was lame and pretty cheesy, as well as some transition issues. The dog also appeared and disappeared randomly at places where you would think he would be involved.

I really enjoyed this fast paced book. I didn't see the ending coming.

    Twisty plot in a goodread

I don't generally favor this genre of books, but I love this author's other books and decided to give it a shot. So glad I did! Her twists and turns kept me reading right to the end of what is a great read. I appreciated the clean read, and the lack of errors made the story an even better read. Not going to give the plot away, but I will congratulate Ms Alford on an excellent job. She obviously has a gift that she shares with her readers, no matter which genre they prefer! Thanks for a great goodread!

This book has great characters and great suspense. The Christian message is gently sprinkled in and I enjoyed that. There were many twists in the story. I had a bit of a problem with all the many twists, and how long it took them to even suspect what was really going on. That's mainly why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I found myself saying, "C'mon!" Still, it's an entertaining book with a happy ending.

I loved this story. It contains elements of mystery, suspense, romance and faith. Faith McKenzie is alone except for her dog, Ollie. 2 years ago she was brutally attacked at her home in Austin, Texas. She thought being released from the hospital was scaring, but promising. With no memories from not only the attack, but also her life. She arrives at Hope Island, Maine which is a small coastal island where she hopes to start a new life and maybe pull out some memories of her past. JT Wyatt developed Wyatt Securities after his wife was killed. He spends his days remodeling a old house and working with his partners. When a dog shows up at his house he immediately thinks of his new neighbor and goes over to return him and witnesses her being attacked. His protective instincts kick in. Faith, rightly so, has trust issues. Every time she has moved, which has been a lot during the past two years, she is being followed and receives threats. Can she trust JT to be who and what he says he is? With a Cat. 3 hurricane heading for their island she needs someone to learn on. I loved the characters. The plot is fast paced and kept my attention. To me this was a spectacular read and I would recommend it to anyone.

This was the first book that I read of Mary Alford's. I really had no idea what to expect, but I really enjoyed it. This is definitely an intense action/mystery/thriller type book. You can see by how long it took me to read this one that I had a hard time putting it down once I started. I'm definitely interested to see how she develops some of the related characters in a forgotten past. From the first page, you are on a roller coaster of a journey with the main two characters as they try to run/hide from and simultaneously fight against an enemy who is completely anonymous. It's very easy to get wrapped up in the stories of Faith and JT as they wrestle with the frustration of trying to unravel the foggy past and figure out what's true. If you enjoy books with intense stories, with danger and suspense, with themes of truth and justice and the importance of fighting for and never giving up on either, than this book is the perfect fit for you. Aside from a few grammatical errors along the way, it was really well written and easy to follow. It was really neat how Alford spins her words and descriptions in a way that involves you in the story, but leaves you hanging just enough to make you trying to figure out the mystery on your own. I'm excited to read more from this author.

    My thoughts on the book:
Faith is on the run from someone she has know idea who she just knows if she wants to stay alive then she has to keep moving if she wants to stay alive. When she ends up in a small town in Maine she hopes her stalker won't find her and that she can finally have some peace and figure out whats going on. JT runs into his neighbor late one night and knows she hiding something and she running from someone. When he decided he needs to help her he never expected the extinct of what he walked into but he had know who was after her and he himself felt like he need to right a wrong. But will the two of them be able to state safe and find there person after Faith or will it all come to head and leave Faith wonder if she's the one who caused all this?
OH MY GOSH is all i have to say this book was amazing on the edge of your seat needed to know what is going to happen can not put down for anything kind of book. After a few chapters I thought I had it all figured out and just kept reading the longer it went on it made me wonder if I did. Everything went right out the window and it kept me guessing all the way to the end, this book was amazing and you can not go wrong with it at all.

Forgotten Past, written by Mary Alford, is an extremely suspenseful book! Alford did a great job of creating a truly suspenseful mystery with these characters. We come into the story when Faith has been on the run from an attacker for two years and finally meets a new neighbor who happens to own a security business. JT is the sweetest guy she could have met and just happens to be able to and wants to help protect her from this possible figment of her imagination. Twists and turns along the way that can keep you on the edge of your seat (and spooked if you happen to hear a noise in your house while reading, just saying!). I thought I had it all figured out, but then she threw in a twist and had me going another direction with impressed me. If you like edge of your seat, suspense, and mystery....this books for you!

Action packed!! So much suspense and danger made this an up-all-nighter. The author leaves you in suspense along with Faith as to who is stalking her! She can’t remember anything and ends up thrown into JT’s life. He happens to be the perfect person to help her – if he can do it before she ends up dead. Fantastic writing, once again, from Ms. Alford. Always on the edge of my seat with her car chases, life and death scenes and hurricanes thrown in! This story felt like a movie – immerses you into the danger and you feel your heart beating as fast as the characters! Always great secondary characters, the small-town lovable variety, who fulfill the story along the way. I highly recommend anything by this author for a fabulous exciting read.

Even though Mary Alford was a new to me author, I picked up Forgotten Past because I love reading Christian romantic suspense. And I'm glad I bought this book.

Her strong faith leads the heroine through hopeless situations. While the hero helps her find the answers to very scary questions, she's the one to help him grown in his faith and move on with his life after the tragic death of his wife. A twist at the end of the book took me by surprise! All in all, a great read.

  • Ann

Wow! Mary has definitely hit a home run with this book. The story line and the characters pulled me in from the first pages. This story is a wonderful combination of suspense, faith and romance and contains so many twists and turns I couldn't put it down after I had started it, and it has an ending that I sure didn't see coming. I definitely look forward to reading more by this author, and I do recommend this one to any reader who enjoys good Christian suspense with lots of action.
