I've seen Ryan Casey's book a lot when i visit Amazon, but confess as a massive ZA fan, this was the first of his books i've read.
Boy have i been missing out.
Very few people seemed to tick all the boxes needed to be a fantastic ZA book in my opinion.
Ryan Casey nails it with flying colours.
This book is horrifying, brutal, and the no character is safe. Forget the predictability found in a lot of books, where you know who'll be alive at the end. This author doesn't care.
The story writing is fantastic, and the characters are incredible.
The pace is terrifyingly relentless, and i loved the sprinkling of humour within.
I enjoyed the fact the story was UK based. -
suspense, twists, turns, and surprises
Riley isn't your typical zombie apocalypse protagonist; he's pensive, has difficulty making decisions, and is a bit of a wuss. He has also done some horrible things in Oder to survive. In season one and the early parts of season two he sacrifices others so that he may live.
Ryan Casey takes that character and through the rest of the season develops him into a leader who makes decisions based on what's for the good of his group- a deft transformation that takes place a bit at a time, not overnight. Riley is the best of a host of well- written characters.
There's a military contingent who, much like the Terminus folks in The Walking Dead have come up with a novel way to deal with the lack of available food after the ZA. Their leader, Ivan, is truly frightening.
Dead Days twists and turns, zigs and zags, with plenty of surprises and black humor. I look forward to season three. -
4.5 stars! A fast paced action filled zombie story. Very enjoyable.

This book is definitely going to get 5 stars from me and boy I loved each and every chapter of it.
This was my second series from this author and let's say the first series I started to read didn't appeal to me that much but boy this book is too good to be true. I have seen several zombie series and read several books and I am able to feel the impact of the twists, the heartbreaks the author was attempting at. I can feel the suspense building especially in the last parts of the book.
Beautifully written with great characters and shocked to see the demise of (I am not gonna name).
Eagerly waiting to see if we could have a return of any of the characters mentioned in this book in the coming books. -
what a great bloody story.
Riley is your average every day, run of the mill twenty something, struggling with his emotions, living with his best friend until her comes back from a job interview and finds his friend attacked I the parking lot.
from there everything just escalates quickly until they're on the run for their lives. building trust in these circumstances isn't easy, and you don't know who you can trust until their lives are on the line. -
Great start to a series!
Even though it starts slow, once it gets going it gains great momentum and rhythm. The characters are very likeable and the ones you're supposed to hate, I did. The author is not afraid to throw unspeakable losses at us and not afraid to tell the truth of life. No super heroes, just regular people fighting for their lives.
Don't forget to review! -
Good read
Entertaining. What I expected from a zombie book. Some storylines a little too predictable but overall a really good read. -
Great characters and a breathlessly paced plot. Maddenly misuse of words.

Nice series to get into.
Although some of the story is a bit guessable at times, this book will certainly entertain any fan of post-apocalyptic, dystopian, zombie fiction. There's a good bit of character development throughout the story, and a nice mix of emotion, fear, adventure, and even some elements of mystery surrounding the cause of the zombies, the backstories and hidden intentions of a few of the characters, and an incident involving cannibalism.
Overall, this book ticks all the boxes for an entertaining story and does leave you wanting more. So if you, like I did, are sitting there and looking at the book unsure of what to make of it or whether to bother reading it or not, give it a read. After all, it's free, and the author deserves your attention. Then you can decide if you want to continue with the series once you finish the first season.
You never know; it may end up being your go-to book for when The Walking Dead seasons end and you're getting withdrawal symptoms. I know I'll be revisiting this series again. -
One of the BEST!!!
I absolutely loved this book! The author has rare talent which is needed when writing a book in any of the genres that are in high demand these days. In the Zombie Apocalypse genre, no matter how great the talent of the author is, the probability of their book being similar in plot to those of the other greats, is is high. With Casey's series, Dead Days, the originality is welcoming. Not only are his characters well crafted, original one from the other, but so believable that you begin to wonder if you hadn't met them somewhere on your journey thru life. The plot has great originality in it twists and turns, surprises around every corner to the point I found myself saying aloud, "I didn't see that coming." I am fully anticipating reading Season two and plan on starting the moment I submit this review. -
Great dialogue
Although this started off a little reminiscent of Shaun of the Dead, the characters soon grew and came into their own - I didn't like all of the characters and some of them were annoying, but they held their own identity throughout (or at least until they were killed off). Found very quickly that I couldn't put the damned book down. Maybe a little reflective of 28 days later, too hence the 4 stars, but still a good read if you like your corpses standing up and chowing down -
Simply amazing! I'm a fan! I love the character Riley. I see a little of me in Riley, I don't know what I would do if it weren't for my family and honestly if I loose everyone I don't know how I would act! Probably like a mad fool! Ted is lazy and he reminds me of a friend I use know some years back. I can't wait to read season 2! To sum up this book it's like the more down to earth (realistic) version of TWD!

Absolutely Amazing Read
Poor Riley...the choices he had to make. The people he had to leave behind once the dead days started. But he mad it through and with some friends who had his back. I'm engrossed in Season 2 now. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Will definitely recommend to friends and fellow readers. Great job Mr. Casey! -
One of the best written zombie fiction books i have read to date!
Love the fact that it is set in the UK as not enough zombie fiction seems to be based on home turf.
Characters are very believable, and incredibly likable to the point that you really feel for them when certain bad things happen! (no spoilers!) -
Could not put it down
I could not stop reading this book. Very well written. At times I was holding my breath because I was afraid what was going to happen. The discovery of the freezer was a shocker for me. I am looking g forward to reading the next book. -
Awesome series! Very realistic, and easy to follow. Lots of action and the surprises never stop.
