I liked this book but some parts dragged and even though it's a historical novel, I can't always wrap my head around the swiftness in which the characters fall "in love" But it was a decent storyline, reminiscent of the times. The "love" triangle was interesting. It didn't go quite the way I expected. The H was fun to watch as he kept sinking from one bad situation to the next, though the situations were usually of his own making. It started off a bit dull but it didn't take long to pick up. This is a book that you can either love, hate, or end up somewhere in between.

I must confess that this is the best in the series so far. It has conflict then things are straightened out only to be conflicted even worse. The tale is almost exhausting. That said, "Dr. Blake Shelton? Really?" I'm on to the next in the series. If you're a fan of historical romance, you are in for a great treat when you read this series.

This is my book, so of course I loved it. Because a passion for the violin is part of the passionate romance, it is one of my favorites.
-
I enjoyed it. It was better than the previous book in the series, that made me doubt if I'll be able to enjoy remaining two books. Story unfolded gradually and felt right. This book had the best pace of 5 books of this series.

Sophie Edwards is a sister to Elsie in "The Dukes Undoing". Many twists and turns. Enjoyable book.

Beautiful story
I enjoyed this love story, sometimes love is a challenge and we have to fight for what we want to get to our love -
Sophie and Frank
Fast moving love then the hassles from the Ton stealing the joy from the hero and heroine. Good for all ages. - Babs -
I expected too much
I hoped at the begining I would be enthralled but alas I was indifferent to the fate of Trowbridge and angel. -
Frank was asked to escort Sophie to her first ball. She had an injury as a child that left her unable to dance. Little did he know, she would charm the socks off him!!
I'm not an expert of the Regency period, but Ms. Vandagriff seemed to do an exceptional job in using true-to-period language and dialogue. I thought that really added to the story.
Sophie was such a sweet and trusting girl. Even when Frank became involved in some compromising situations, she wasn't overly angry--she was more self-punishing, if anything. She was willing to give him up and live the life of a spinster, because if she couldn't have him, she wanted no one. I guess she was naive, but it was endearing. It seemed that she and Melissa were such good friends, yet they knew nothing about the other one's feelings.
Frank, for all of his worldliness, was clueless to the ways of the ton. I had to laugh at some of the situations he found himself in. It was like someone gave him a shovel--he would try and get out of one scrape and find himself even deeper into another one. The harder he tried to dig himself out, the worse things got.
I enjoyed watching the story and the different bits and pieces come together.
I had forgotten that I had read a book about one of Sophie's sisters awhile ago. This book is part of a series, yet is perfectly fine as a stand-alone.
Content: talk of mistresses (no descriptions); kissing. Clean. -

I liked the idea of this story; I’m a closet Regency romance reader and this had all the makings of a good read. I wasn’t disappointed, but the story was slightly predictable. There were a few moments, when I shook my head as I was reading or blatantly cried out, ‘Noooooooo!’ And not in a good way, either.
While we learnt about the characters, I didn’t connect with them. But at the same time, I did like them. I enjoyed the added extras about Sophie’s abilities on the violin as well as the Home/School for girl orphans. I loved her descriptions, G.G really did describe the dresses and the scenes so I felt I was there.
I did enjoy the book and would I recommend it to other people? The 20,000 dollar question? Yes. I would. I liked it and would read another book by this author. You can’t ask for more.

The couple gets into many romantic triangles and the author did a great job keeping the reader guessing right up until the end how the couple was going to turn out.
Sophie has some spunk, which drew me into the story. She was such a sweet and trust girl. She is a character many of us could relate to.
The setting was well done the viscount I felt was naïve at times with the ton. Some were humorous and enjoyed laughing. overall the book was very well done. The other part of the book I liked it was a clean romance. -
Historical English titled society clean romance.
Love at first ball scenario where the bored society guy, Viscount Trowbridge agrees to escort Miss Sophie Edwards around her first ball which should be innocent enough, but they quickly fall in love and bizarrely it is Sophie's best friend that sabotages their blossoming relationship by getting herself into a shotgun engagement with 'Gorgeous Frank'. Sophie gets a miracle cure for her childhood sickness induced leg limp which was not nearly as good a story as
The Proposal where the wonderful Lady Muir (who also has a limp) finds a new life. So read
The Proposal if you want a great story about a limping heroine.
There is a HEA, but it is silly and unbelievable which made me knock off a star.
This is clearly part of series that I have not read and I'm not going to search out, but still a good quality fluff read.

This is my favorite of the Regency romances I have written.
Here's the blurb:
When the very bored and very handsome Viscount Trowbridge agrees to escort Miss Sophie Edwards to her first ball, his life is upended. Because a childhood injury left her unable to dance, Sophie is new to the ton and not terribly interested in it. But our heroine has a secret weapon: she has mastered the violin.
The viscount, aka Gorgeous Frank, is unexpectedly and powerfully smitten the first time he hears Sophie perform. Recognizing in her a person more complex and passionate than any ton beauty, he launches a courtship calculated to win her in ways as original as she is.
Sophie is nearly bowled over, but a native disinclination to trust proves a serious challenge, as does Frank’s former mistress. At times, Frank is his own worst enemy. As he wades through a sea of misunderstandings, will his “angel” have the insight to believe that he is a changed man? Will Sophie avail herself of her sisters’ help, lower the barriers of a lifetime to trust him, and allow herself to fall in love? -
In this book we meet Viscount Frank Trowbridge who agrees to escort Miss Sophie Edwards to a ball. Sophie isn't able to dance because of a childhood injury, so when he finds out she plays the violin, he introduces her to the musical people he knows.
Pretty soon he finds himself utterly entranced with the woman at his side and how she seems to light up the room when she's speaking about music and an upcoming performance. Unfortunately, his mistress also sees his interest in Miss Sophie, there's illness, society expectations and that isn't even all the twists and turns for our hero and heroine with many more misunderstandings and obstacles to their newfound love.
I thought the setting was well done, but there were times when the viscount seemed a little naive in his actions and what society expected. I liked Miss Sophie and was happy to catch up with her sisters who were heroines in previous books. Ms. Vandagriff does not disappoint her historical fiction fans and this is another gem in her series.

The book is definitely fun. A wonderful romp through the ton, following some interesting characters. I especially liked the heroine, Sophie. She has plenty of spunk, coupled with a fair dollop of naivety. Due to a disability that renders her unable to dance - and makes her the contempt of the ton - she is quite retiring. Her life has been spent in the country, mastering the violin. She's a pro. Now in London for her first season, she little expects to go home with a husband - and certainly not a hunk like Lord Trowbridge. Or one with as many skeletons in the cupboard as Lord Trowbridge has, either. Wading through the effects of his previously debauched life, she has a tough time securing her happy ever-after.
For all that Lord Trowbridge was a London sophisticate, he was a bit of a dunce when it came to negotiating his way through the shark-infested waters of the ton. It made for some laughs - and a bit of eye rolling. But in the end the man got his girl.
This book is definitely worth a read if you like clean romances with a regency feel. -
Viscount Frank Trowbridge, "Gorgeous Frank", has agreed to accompany Miss Sophie Edwards to her first London ball. Unable to dance because of childhood accident, the couple engage in cards and have a wonderful time. Frank calls her "Angel" as he says she resembles an angel to him.
Sophie is a master of the violin and when Frank joins Sophie's family for dinner one evening, she plays her violin. He is taken aback. Never had he heard anything so lovely. He was falling in love with his "Angel". But Frank is a known womanizer of sorts and now has to figure a way to change his lifestyle all for the love of Sophie.
Will Frank be able to change? Will a former mistress come between the two? Sophie confides in her sister for any help she can get. How can she lower her barriers in order to love him? Can she ever trust him?
I won this great book through the Goodreads Giveaway. I really enjoyed this book as I do like to read Regency novels. -
This is the fifth book in the Six Rogues series. I liked this book though not as much as some of the others. Sophie, who is the younger sister of Elise and Fanny, has come to London for her friend's coming out ball. Sophie though doesn't dance because of a childhood injury that she has endured for many years. A friend of the family Lord Trowbridge agrees to accompany her. Lord Trowbridge is the epitome of the Corinthian who is carefree and athletic. Drawn to Sophie despite their differences, Trowbridge is utterly changed when he hears Sophie play the violin. Though they just met, he is determined to marry her. Giving up his carefree unthinking ways is easier said than done, and brings a whole host of problems that threaten to destroy Sophie's blooming love for him.
This is a fun, clean Regency era read! Looking forward to the next book in the series. -
Another great regency romance by G.G. Vandagriff. Miss Sophie makes a nice, unassuming heroine who has no intentions of falling in love, let alone to even be noticed by a notorious man such as Frank Trowbridge. In fact she doesn't take anything he says seriously and refers to him as "Gorgeous Frank." Despite her lame knee, she manages to enjoy her time in London society, but has very few expectations. I love how some of the characters carry over from Vandagriff's other regency novels, and you never have to truly let go of any of them.
Vandagriff is quickly becoming an esteemed name on the shelves of regency romance. Lord Trowbridge's Angel is sweet, humorous, and of course romantic, and you'll become an instant fan. -
Viscount Trowbridge aka Gorgeous Frank agrees to escort Miss Sophie Edwards to her first ball knowing she can't dance due to a bad knee from a childhood sickness. Frank is a bit of a rake but upon first seeing Sophie he realizes this is his angel, sent to redeem him. She takes his flirting as a practiced art and doesn't take him seriously until she sees the reaction her violin playing has on his soul. Soon doubts arise when the former mistress, best friend and the talk of the ton get involved. Frank accidentally compromises the wrong woman - will he suffer the consequences? Such a sweet innocent love story although I had to give it 4 out of 5 stars cause I thought a 4 day acquaintance was too short to determine love from lust.

Regency Romance is definitely one of my favorite genres!
Filled with passion and romance and gossip on the ton...it makes it hard to do anything else during the day except read :)
You will read of the handsome Viscount Frank Trowbridge and his first meeting of Miss Sophie Edwards.
You will watch as they fall in love...and read of the many ways they find to be with each other...
And then you will anguish with them as their love seems to be torn from them with a misunderstanding that will call for Gorgeous Frank to be torn from his angel's arms.
Wait until you read the ending...
SO. AMAZINGLY. WONDERFUL! -
For those of you that care, I think this is PG13, but only because of one descriptive kiss, and some talk of mistresses. But really, I don't remember any swears, and there's no sex.
These Six Rogues books are so fun! I was intrigued by this romance between an extremely talented violinist (Sophie, our h), and an aristocratic male who was not a respecter of women. I loved watching Lord Trowbridge's change of heart as he became more enlightened and his love for Sophie grew. I also liked the way Sophie stood her ground morally and refused to change for anyone. Great book - fast read. -
Part of G.G. Vandagriff's genius is in creating such delightful characters. Miss Sophie Edwards is a new favorite! Sophie is a wonderful mix of vulnerability, strength, and passion. This book tells of the unexpected romance between the unassuming Sophie and "Gorgeous Frank". As is typical of G.G.'s work, this romantic story is filled with adventure that keeps the reader on her toes. I was rooting for Sophie and Frank from page one, and enjoyed the ride to the finish line!

I enjoyed this story. I had a hard time liking Frank since he had a mistress. I wanted to believe in a change, but I'd have a hard time taking that chance.
The music aspect and poetry were great additions. Sophie is likeable and a great mix of strength and vulnerability. Their story is complicated thanks to choices Frank has made, but it has a nice ending of course. They pull out the best in each other. -
Loving this Regency series
I am truly enjoying this series of Regency tales by Vandegriff.
Lord Trowbridge's Angel is another tale of rake reformed. Trowbridge has never shown interest in a marriageable woman and he finds himself tumbling head over heels for his friend's sister in-law . Their romance is fraught with challenges brought on by bad choices and the complexities if the ton. -

A cute romantic historical novel. Lord Trowbridge has no intention of getting married until he meets Sophie. She is an innocent with a physical disability and a wonderful musical talent, he is a rake. The problems the Lord encounters create a lively story.
