Although this was classified as a boy's book, I was a 1980's school girl who enjoyed reading BLADE OF THE YOUNG SAMURAI. I forgot if a reader (such as me) was referred to as a he or a she. It is great that I keep making situation choices until I found a way to get a happy ending. In this book, there are many unpleasant situations other than death. I'm aware of one ultimate victorious ending; although I forgot what other satisfactory possibilities a reader may end up in. This is one of those books that builds up appetite for young readers to enjoy the adventure of reading.
