3 This-book-was-a-Darling read stars
Caleb and Alex..*sign* Just LOOK at the cover. These two are just as adorable in the book as they are on the cover.:)
Since you've probably read the blurb, lets just skip to My thoughts:
I've been a consistent fan of this series from book 1,ever since I feel in love with Lia & Adam in
The Sweetest Seduction.Even though this plot was the kind I had repeatedly read or watched in rom-coms on Saturday nights.I decided nevertheless,to give this book a go,just so I could continue this series.
A decision, I don't regret.
Is this a stand-alone?
Yes,Each book in the series pertain to different couple. The link is that all the heroes belong to the same family.
Would I recommend it ?
If your into that fluffy kinna novels..go for it ! I found it to be a great one time read.
Will I be continuation the series. ?
I enjoy the author's writing.So,Yes. -
3.5 - I'd love to make you purr. Stars!
Falling for the Wingman is without doubt my favourite book of the Kelly Brothers series so far. I loved Caleb, we don't get enough Air Force pilots to lust over in Romantic Fiction IMO. Alex was really likeable too, kick-ass, loyal and just a little bit vulnerable.
"Not bad, flyboy."
Caleb Kelly has returned to the US after 9 months deployed in Afghanistan, he is expecting a heartfelt homecoming and getting his relationship back on track with his girlfriend Kourtney, as well as finally being able to pop the question to her. Her emails to him whilst he was abroad were the glue that held him together and she unknowingly became his lucky charm...
What he actually gets is a no-show at his return, and a dusty empty flat with a Dear John letter on his pillow. Looking for answers he turns up in her home-town in Alabama, days before her wedding to another guy... Caleb wants answers, and in steps her sister Alex to offer help, she has an audacious plan and a few secrets of her own, with regards to a certain sexy pilot.
I couldn't put this book down, Caleb has been the Kelly brother I most wanted to get to know and he didn't disappoint. Funny, sexy and a gentleman to the end, even though he is a little slow on the uptake when it comes to Alex and her feelings for him, he more than makes up for it in the end.
Courage is doing what you know is right, even when you're afraid. Hope is what gets us through the dark moments when we doubt ourselves. And love is what makes the impossible possible.
Another excellent book in this series, straight onto book 4 for me! -
Between work and things going on in my life I haven't known what to read or what I was in the mood to read.
But this book was just absolute perfection. It fit my mood, it wasn't full of angst, it was just a nice contemporary romance.
I loved every moment of Alex and Caleb’s story. I was hooked from page one, when Caleb decided to chase down his former girlfriend after she left him a Dear John letter while he was on deployment. I have to say that I loved Alex’s plan to make Caleb fall for her.
Almost immediately, Caleb became confused by his reaction to Alex and soon enough, his feelings were confused about which sister he really wanted.
I loved the connection that Alex and Caleb had. I loved how well she knew Caleb and that she knew the right things to say to encourage him while he was still on deployment. And I loved the little angel trinket that Alex made that Caleb ended up with. It was just a nice little touch.
I also loved how seamlessly Caleb fit in with Alex’s friends. There was a scene where Alex met one of Caleb’s (many) brothers, but I do wish that there had been more of scene of Alex with Caleb’s family.
Going into this book, I didn’t realize that it was part of a series. I’ll definitely be going back to read the previous books and I can’t wait to read future books. -
Cute, sweet, sassy and even some serious tension. Good stuff.
I really enjoyed my first book by this author.
Alex is unique and fun. She likes Caleb & comes up with a plan.
Mama and Kourtney have been harping on me for weeks because I don’t have a date for the wedding, so if you pose as my date, that gets them off my back for a few seconds.”
“Just one problem—I’m here to convince your sister to marry me, not sit beside you as she marries that a$$h0le.”
When we show up at Mama’s house on Wednesday afternoon to help with the reception favors, Kourtney will be so crazy with jealousy that you’ll have her in the palm of your hand.”
It almost seemed too easy, except for one small problem. He’d have to pretend to be crazy about Alex when all he could think about was her sister. “And you’re okay with me using you like this?” He didn’t miss the flicker of pain in her eyes or the way her smile tightened.
“It’s not like guys haven’t done it before. I’m used to them pretending to like me only to get closer to Kourtney.”
Caleb - If only he could get past the person he thinks Kourtney is, he would see what is right there in front of him.
Listen, Alex, I don’t want to hurt you—”
“Who said anything about me getting hurt? This is my idea, after all. And I know going into it that you have your heart set on my sister, so there’s no deception or anything on your part. Just do me one favor, though.”
“What’s that?”
“Just don’t call me by her name.”
It was one thing to fake a kiss. It was an entirely different matter to lose himself in it, especially when his heart belonged to another woman.
“I feel like I’m cheating on her.”
“BS. Besides, it’s not like she wasn’t cheating on you while you were gone.” “Way to twist the knife in my gut. While you’re at it, care to slide a few hundred splinters into my skin and set them on fire?”
“Ooh, I never suspected you were the kinky type.”
“But you’re cute.”
She groaned. “Now it’s my turn to have a knife twist in my gut. Calling a girl cute is the equivalent of telling her she has a nice personality.”
“You do have a nice personality.”
“Stop it!” she teased, her laughter infecting him and driving away his guilt. “And I suppose you’d love to introduce me to one of your friends, but they’re already all in relationships, right?”
“Actually, I was thinking one of my brothers…”
“Enough!” “A girl can only take so much.”
“I just hate the idea of deceiving her. There’s something wrong about lying to get someone to fall in love with you.”
Then there is Kourtney - YIKES! She is engaged to another man, but doesn't want Alex to be with Caleb.
“Jermaine, I think we’re going to need some WD-40.” The other mechanic handed her a can and grinned.
“When you done loosening that tight B up, maybe we can use it on your sister.” “What are you talking about?”
Before he had a chance to answer, a woman’s voice with a prissy Southern drawl came from the opening of the garage. “Alexandra, I need to speak to you in your office immediately.”
Alex would bet anything that Kourtney was here to talk about Caleb, especially after their performance at the Sugar Belle last night.
Jermaine’s grin widened as he hid behind the car’s hood with her. “Just spray it between her a$s cheeks, and maybe she won’t be so high and mighty.
“You’d best let her get it out of her system because there ain’t no telling what she’ll do until she gets her way. I’ll keep working on Miss Martha’s car.”
“Fine.” Alex handed the socket wrench to him. “If I’m not back in five minutes, it’s because one of us is dead and the other is trying to dispose of the body.”
“Okay, let ’er rip.”
Kourtney eyed the office with only a fraction less disdain than she had the garage. “I’m here to tell you to stop being the town slut and trying to seduce Caleb.”
“Town slut, huh?” She rocked back in her chair. “Didn’t that title used to belong to you?”
Her sister’s lip curled into an unflattering snarl. “No, it didn’t, but I can tell you what did belong to me—Caleb. And as far as you’re concerned, he’s still mine.”
“And what does Ryan think about that?”
“That is no concern of his.”
“I would think it is, especially since you two are getting married in a few days. Does he know he’s the one you used to cheat on Caleb?
You will keep your hands off Caleb, and you definitely will not make a slut of yourself in front of everyone in town again. Do you hear me?”
“And what if he can’t keep his hands off me?”
A blood vessel throbbed along Kourtney’s neck. “I mean it. I won’t have you taking what’s mine.”
Jump in and enjoy - this was a good one. -
Falling for the Wingman is the third in the Kelly Brothers series and one I eagerly awaited.
I really do love Crista McHugh's writing, it flows effortlessly, has no editing issues, has strong heroines (no limp lettuce leaves here thank God!, little uncessary angst and swoony H's.
I gobbled this one up. Alex Leadbetter is one awesome girl! Shes down to earth, forthright, happy go lucky and confident despite living in her sister's shadow. Caleb is an airforce pilot that came home from a 9 months stint in Afghanistan to discover that his girlfriend Kourtney (the evil sister) left him a Dear John letter. He heads to Alabama to face her down and get her back, unfotunately she is about to get married. Cue Alex, who has had a thing for Caleb for a while, and was emailing Caleb whilst he was away, letting him think it was Kourtney. This leads on to a plan for Caleb to get Kourtney back (although Alex is hoping otherwise).
I LOVED Caleb and Alex together, they sizzled, oh man did they ever! This was another brilliant read that left me with a silly grin on my face and desperate for Dan's story out in July 2014.
ARC provided by the author (okay after I begged for it, I love this series so much!) -
Falling for the Wingman by Crista Mchugh is the 3rd book in her Kelly Brothers series. I have really enjoyed this new series by Crista, and Falling for the Wingman was another wonderful story. What I love about this series is that each book is completely different, with the exception of the same family, great couples and wonderful romances.
Caleb Kelly is our hero in this book, and things start off rough for him. Caleb is an Air Force pilot, who comes home on leave from his deployment in Afghanistan, to ask his girlfriend, Kourtney to marry him. Only he finds a “Dear John” goodbye note that she has broken off their relationship. Caleb goes to see her, only to find out she is going to marry someone else within a week. Instead, he meets Alex, the younger sister, who has had a crush on Caleb for a long time. In fact, it was Alex who sent emails to Caleb to keep his spirits up, in the guise of Kourtney. If only Caleb knew that the woman who he fell in love with from those emails, was not the woman he wanted to marry.
Alex makes a wonderful heroine, a sweet, fun loving, pretty girl next door, who everyone in the small town loves. She is nothing like her mean sister, Kourtney, who is all about snobbish self. Alex owns a car repair shop in town, where she fixes all kinds of cars, including antique/classic model cars. Caleb drives on of those classic cars, with Alex salivating to be able to drive it.
Alex helps Caleb try to get Kourtney’s attention by playing the other woman, hoping to raise her jealousy. Of course, Alex has other plans, which include finding a way to make Caleb fall for her. What follows is a cute romance that starts out as a game, and slowly begin to sizzle, and their relationship quickly changes to a beautiful, delightful, and hot romance.
You truly need to read this enjoyable book (& series) to see how well Crista McHugh brings them together, and how the family ugly duckling turns into a beautiful and perfect young lady more then worthy of the hero. The Kelly Brothers is a wonderful series, and if you like pure sexy romance, then this is for you.

The Reading Cafe -
I was lucky enough to listen to the audio version of Crista McHugh's FALLING FOR THE WINGMAN which is the third book in her Kelly Brothers series. This is the first book I've read in the series (and by this author) and I was still able to thoroughly enjoy the story without having read the first two books.
The storyline was fantastic, I loved the characters, I loved the setting, I loved the witty dialogue and the Cyrano twist, and the narrator was the best I've heard in quite some time. I felt she really nailed the nuances, accents, and temperaments of each character's personality, both male and female.
The story begins with Caleb, an Air Force pilot who has just come back to the states after a tour in Afghanistan, coming home to a Dear John note from his girlfriend Kourtney. The woman he liked before he left, but fell in love with while he was overseas due to the bonding they experienced through the emails they shared. Not one to give up so easily he heads to Kourtney's hometown to get an answer face-to-face about why she left him. He's hoping the engagement ring he purchased will help to change her mind. Instead he finds the woman he thinks he loves a week away from marrying another man. He still wants answers but is going to have to settle for getting them from her younger sister Alex. Alex is all too happy to spend time with Caleb because she's had a thing for the sexy pilot ever since they were first introduced. Sister or no, she's more than ready to take a chance he'll finally see her and choose her over her sister.
I don't want to give spoilers, so all I'll say is this book was delightful, Caleb is one sexy hunk, Alex is a smart and sassy southern girl who isn't afraid to go after what she wants and has some really great friends who love and support her, the sexy times were hot and steamy, and Crista McHugh really knows how to tell a story! You don't want to miss this one! 5 stars -
Crista McHugh has quickly made my list of favorite authors. Her writing style is easy and straightforward, and the Kelly Brothers series is a lot of fun. The thing I like the most, and I mentioned this in another review of this same series, is the characters. All of her females are strong, capable leads. They are either successful in their lives or they have a firm sense of purpose of where they want to go. You will not find any of these girls sitting around waiting for some successful, rich, sexy man to make things happen for them. Enter successful, rich, sexy man...the men of this series are all successful, influential, and incredibly sexy. They are for the most part good guys, but they are human and they make mistakes.
The third book in the Kelly Brothers series is about Caleb Kelly. Returning home after deployment he finds, to his surprise, his seemingly wonderful, caring girlfriend nowhere in sight. After tracking her down, he discovers she might not be everything he ever thought she was. Her little sister, Alex, however, is a different story. I liked Alex a lot. She is my kind of girl. In a world that revolved around looks and outward appearances, she realized that putting up the front of perfection was too hard and decided to just be herself. She didn't care what others thought of her and was happy with her imperfect life.
There are four more Kelly brothers, and I'm looking forward to getting to know each of them.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. -
This was a really good book. It was a sweet romance with a little spice added in for flavoring. I liked it because Alex is a caring intelligent person with a small town background. Caleb is a hotshot air force pilot who has come home from overseas to find out he’s been dumped by Alex’s sister. He has a strong personality but just needs to find out what happened when he left. Yes, we all know what happened but it’s a really good book. It’s very exciting and not the usual syrupy romance. I would recommend it to anyone who wants more than the plain no sex book but less then the sex every two minutes. You will enjoy reading this book -
Crista McHugh is quickly making her way up my list of favourite authors.
Caleb comes back from Afghanistan to find out his fiancée has left him and is getting married to someone else. Alex has always been in love with Caleb. She talks him into letting her help him get her sister back by pretending to date her to make her sister jealous.
What follows is a sweet and entertain love story. -

Sweet!
If I had one word to describe this book, that's the one I would use. Not in the urban slang sweet- as in cool, no no, I mean the kind of sweet that sugar coats your heart and makes you feel all smily and leaves a pink haze in your eyes.
The Kelly Brothers Series is fast becoming my cute and fluffy guaranteed fix for 2014.
I love McHugh writing, so each time I get my hands on one of her novels, I know that at that level I will be given joy. And Falling for the Wingman didn't disappoint. I love the dual POV and felt that their voices were quite unique. In fact to my utter joy I find each brother in each book totally different and so are their voices. Which is one of the pleasure about the series, besides the man-candy and the cute&fluffy, I am totally appreciating.
The Story line is SWEET. Yes, I am recycling the word- and let me warn you I will use it several times over. The story line is your typical falling for the wrong sister kinda romance. But this is a wonderful and very real feeling variation of it.
While
Sweetest Seduction was set around the restaurant industry and
Breakaway Hearts setting was around professional ice hockey -Falling for the Wingman was kinda set around cars. And I am saying kinda, because that's what Alex and Caleb both love. But unlike the first two novel, I didn't feel as excited about the background setting in this one. At first I thought I might have to do with the fact- that I have been involved in the fields of both previous novels and though I do love fast cars I do have to admit I don't know very much about them.. But thinking about it I came to the conclusion, that wasn't it. Somehow the cars took a way bigger back seat than the passions of the previous books. This was way more about the sisters than cars, which I found quite sad. I would have preferred it somehow the other way around.
The smut by the way was hot but definitely not my favorite in the series- better than the first one though- not so much insta-lust- but more.
Looking at the characters, I loved that Adam featured again and I did like Caleb in the first book- so it was great to read his story. He didn't disappoint. Alex was nice, but I did find her actually manipulative- I know it sounds bitchy considering- but she did deceive him, in the hope that he will discover her. So that leaves me wondering if lying of the right reasons is better than for what we think the wrong ones?
I did love Alex's circle of friends and how Caleb and her interacted with them. It felt real and realistic.
Found the bitch factor with sis a bit over the top - though in the end it was solved beautifully, which was more than redeeming for the series.
The way Alex and Caleb's relationship grew was probably more realistic than the previous two. And pleased to say there isn't much insta-love around, always a good thing in my opinion. By the end of the book, I felt like they had a solid connection and like I knew them quite well and understood them.
On an other note: I found this time around the mother less cliche, more real and I am looking forward to seeing more of her in future books.
All in all a sweet book. Yes, I used that word again. Told you I would.
If you feel like something sweet- or are in need of your cute & fluffy fix, this is the book for you.
Each of the sequels can work as a stand alone- but frankly, let me tell you, you wanna read ALL of them!
Falling for the Wingman did leave me wanting more! AND again it left me wanting to pick McHugh's brain.
But mostly it left me hoping that McHugh will write a book for EACH Kelly brother! -
3 1/2 stars!
Crista McHugh brings us the story of next Kelly Brother who finds himself inching closer meeting his match on his way to the altar. This latest installment packs a punch in the sweetness and “aww”-inducing department with a hero whose mixture of playboy past and present “good-boy” vibes and a heroine whose girl next door and girl without frills personality make for some really memorable scenes.
As a novel, it was a bit shorter than her previous one, which featured Caleb’s brother Ben and dealt with a much heavier issue. Caleb’s story is light in some ways, a feel-good reading, but it also dealt with legitimate issues that readers can easily relate to.
I love the pacing of the story and how our main characters really just put themselves out there. While I appreciate being inside their heads, so to speak, and hearing their thoughts and finding out their feelings, I really appreciate the fact that they act, they do, they move forward. There wasn’t much of that brooding (although I’m not saying that brooding is bad) but this take on how things flow is refreshing for me as a reader.
Another thing I appreciate in this novel is how the author takes the story one step further and gives us some of the ups and downs after the main couple gets together. Of course, some of that happily-ever-after feeling can already be felt when they decided to be together but I also love that the author was able to share with us the fact that life or relationships don’t stop there. Everything’s not going to be rosy or perfect all the time even if you’re with the one who means everything to you.
Caleb is an interesting and totally lovable and swoon-worthy character. Yes, there were times when I would have like to just shake him hard to knock some sense in him so he can open his eyes to the truth that’s been staring at his face all this time. But I love his loyalty, his closeness to his mother and brothers, his easygoing personality. He might have been painted as a playboy but the author has also showed that he has moved beyond that particular point in this past.
Alex, I adore. At first I was afraid that I wasn’t going to like her because she seemed to be badmouthing his own sister to his sister’s ex, the same person she wanted to win for herself. But then I got to really ‘meet’ her and I began to understand her. Because first, she has the most horrible sister and apparently, she’s had a thing for Caleb, which she hasn’t acted on at all out of loyalty to her sister and a little bit of insecurity on the side, for a while now. I love how she’s independent. I love that she’s a car mechanic and owns and runs her own garage. I love that she has the guts to finally pursue the man she wants. And it was really interesting and good for the story that she came up with a plan to get Caleb to fall for her true self. Talk about being pro-active.
These two are sizzling hot together. I really enjoy the easy camaraderie and friendship that seem obvious from the pages when they interact. And it didn’t hurt at all that there were some pretty steamy scenes between them. They had chemistry, obviously. But they also had understanding and acceptance between them that would sustain their relationship.
This is a great addition to the Kelly Brothers series and I can’t wait to find out what Crista has in store for the remaining four brothers. -

As I was reading, Falling For the Wingman by
Crista McHugh, it dawned on me. Crista was undertaking a huge job. Writing seven books in a series so close together. Writing about seven charismatic, successful bothers and the equally unique women in their lives.
It would have been easy to go a formulated route but that's not what Crista has chosen. Adam's book was dynamic and fast paced. Ben's book was bittersweet and tragic. And Caleb? Well his book is a lesson in looking beyond the obvious.
Alex Ledbetter was the sweet sister. The one who defied her mother's need for a debutante. She went her own way and did her own thing. Consequently she was the sweetheart of the town and the Bain of her mother and sister's existence. When big sis runs out on her boyfriend as soon as he leaves for a tour of duty, Alex hacks her email sends him letters letting him think they were from Kourtney (big sister). Falling more than a little in love with him herself. He's home now and determined to marry "the woman he loves" the one who sent those letters, the real Kourtney. Only trouble is, she's marrying someone else leaving the field open for Alex. The question is, does Alex have the nerve to follow through?<
Caleb Kelly is a flying, dedicated to a military life. When he left for a tour of duty he left a sexy girlfriend. While on tour he discovered that there was so much more to her than just a great body, she had an amazing heart. But when he comes home to an abandoned apartment and a Dear John letter he is livid. Determined to discover what changed he rushes to Kourtney's hometown, arriving just in time to stop the wedding...or not. Confused as to what happened Caleb agrees to Alex's plan to make Kourtney jealous, hoping for that moment alone with her, a chance to change her mind. Only trouble is, the more time he spends with Alex the less he wants Kourtney. Leaving him baffled and bemused.<
It's a slow dawning for Caleb, an awakening. Watching his feelings for Alex blossom as he struggles with what he thinks he feels. He fell in love with the woman who wrote those letters, didn't he? How can he be that shallow? To think he loves one woman and discover he had feelings for another..
Alex had a few eye openers herself. She knew she loved Caleb but she has to deal with the fact that she is manipulating him. Addressing her guilt and letting him now that she's the one he really wants.
Dealing with Bridezilla and Bridezilla's mother is a strain. Kourtney is a pain but mom? Yeah, someone needs to smack that witch.
Once again Crista McHugh captures our attention and gives us a wonderful story! I am totally living this series. Dr. Dan is next, can't wait!

Plot Summary
The third book of the Kelly Brothers series. The story was about Caleb Kelly, a hot (yes, I said that) military man, who came back from mission only to find out that his girlfriend, Kourtney, left him for another man. He went to her hometown to ask for an explanation and convince her to comeback to him. But he found out that she's getting married from a wealthy man in her hometown. Alex, Kourtney's sister, helped him get Kourtney back. But circumstances has changed and he found himself falling for his ex' sister.
Characters
Caleb - he came from a wealthy family, although he chose the military rather than his inheritance, he has more than enough for himself. She came home from Afghanistan with a decision to finally ask his girlfriend to marry him.
Kourtney - the manipulative, social climber and self loving girlfriend of Caleb. When her father died, she used the money she inherited for plastic surgery and enhancements. And even though Caleb supports her with all her needs, she still left Caleb for a wealthy man in her hometown. I'm confused about her reason for leaving Caleb. She told her sister, Alex, that she's not cut to be a military wife. But there was also a chapter in the book where Alex told Caleb that she prefer her fiance because of the money.
Alex - you will surely love this girl Alex. She's been secretly in love with Caleb ever since her sister introduced him to her. She hacked her sister's email account just so she could send him comforting words in the middle of Afghanistan, when Kourtney decided to leave him. She went out of the line to help him win back her sister and let him use her to make Kourtney jealous. But she find herself falling for him more and more.
Touche, but I liked the story, I'm a sucker for HEA ending and this one really is a good story. I love how Kourtney changed her attitude and feelings towards her only sister, Alex. She has been a pain in the ass for so long that it's high time she change, thanks to her fiancé's love and support. Their mother on the other hand, needs to have a heart to heart talk with Kourtney so she too, will understand that Alex is one of her daughters too. IMO, I think that the reason Kourtney has been like that - vainest of the vain - was because of their mother's expectation from her. Beauty contests, rich men around her, name it. But hey, I'm not saying that she's using her for evil deed. And it's a good thing that she found a man she said she love for loving her as she is.

5 "loving this series" stars
I cannot say enough good things about McHugh's Kelly Brothers series. Book 3 is about Caleb, a soldier back from deployment. He is shocked when he finds a letter from his girlfriend, the woman he was about to propose to, stating that she couldn't be a military girlfriend. Part of the reason he was caught off guard was due to the emails he received from her. He really felt those emails helped him get through the tougher times when he was overseas, and along the way it was the emails which made him fall in love with her. What he didn't know was that Kourtney never wrote the letters, her sister Alex did.
Alex always had a thing for Caleb, but unfortunately, he noticed her sister Kourtney first. This was not the first time Alex felt overlooked due to her sister's enhanced beauty. But Alex really didn't want Caleb to undergo the heartache of Kourtney dumping him just a few weeks after he left, so Alex hacked her sister's account and regularly emailed Caleb and fell even more for him along the way.
Alex decides to help Caleb get Kourtney by faking a relationship with each other. In reality, she is hoping that Caleb discovers that the girl he really fell in love with, the one he really should want, is actually Alex and not her sister. There is obvious chemistry between the two, and let me say, McHugh, does a great job writing that chemistry--HOT!! With time, everything works out and we get our HEA for Caleb and Alex.
What I love about this series, aside from the Hotness of the Kelly Brothers, is how different each of the stories has been so far. These are not cookie cutter romance stories, and I think this really be brought to light with Dan's book which is coming next. I find it refreshing that when the couples hit the snag in the relationship, it is not overly drawn out. Add in the recurring references to the other brothers from the previous books, and it makes the stories even more complete. Each book can be read as a stand alone but it is in your best interest to experience all the Kelly brothers--thankfully there are still 4 more to go!!!
Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. -
I thought I loved the last book of this series when I read it but this one made my heart all glittery and I think I swooned??? I've never done that before!!! But I don't think I could've helped myself. Alex and Caleb were just so freaking cute n sweet n funny in their interactions it would be really hard to not just fall in love with them immediately.
The "flying" Caleb thought he had his life figured out when he came back from deployment but it sure took a turn for the worse. Luckily, he had his "wingman" Alex to assist him on figuring out a new path for his life.
Alex was an amazing character. Just real and easy going that I couldn't find one thing wrong with her at all. And that is really surprising because most female characters can be picked apart for being one thing or another. Alex was a tomboy after my own heart. I swear Crista knew me with most of her explanations of Alex!!! I loved her. She kicked ass!!!!
And Caleb. What a freakin cutie! And sweetheart, and strong, and amazing, and charming, and caring, and heroic, and on and on and on.... I mean it I could keep going. He and Alex had this banter with each other that would make me laugh out loud. Even if they wouldn't get romantically involved these two would just be great as friends in a book too. They weren't overly lovely dovey or ridiculous with their feelings. They just constantly teased each other n it honestly helped the flow of the book. For example:
"I'm still too exhausted to move."
"Then I'm going to start questioning your stamina," she teased. "I thought pilots were supposed to be endurance athletes."
"Maybe you should come back to bed and continue my training."
"Love to, but can't. There's a fuel injector with my name on it."
"Ouch!" He threw his arm over his eyes. "I'm getting dumped for a fuel injector."
See cute right? So if you are looking for a book with a fun romance with a twist Caleb and Alex are a good story to get into. -
What a fun story this was. A classic Cyrano with a flip of the coin. Alex Leadbetter, she is Cyrano. Caleb Kelly is Christian who Alex helps woo her sister in this case Kourtney. Whom would be the said Roxanne?
You see Caleb is a Flyboy and was dating and living with Kourtney on a base when he go deployed to Afghanistan, not soon after he left Kourtney wrote a dear John letter and left it on the bar at the house not even bothering to mail it to him. So, Alex who had been in love with Caleb since the moment she met him hacks her sisters email account and writes to him for 9 of the 11 months he was gone to give him hope and courage to keep going and stay safe and for safe passage home. While trying to soften the blow saying she didn’t like being a service man’s girlfriend it’s not for her.
When he arrives home to no girlfriend to meet him and a note he jumps in his car and drives to hours to get to her mother’s home to get the answers from Kourtney. One small problem. He’s met at the door by Alex only to find out Kourtney getting married in 6 days. Alex and him come up with a plan…
I really enjoyed this story a great deal. The characters were a lot of fun. I really enjoyed Alex’s zest for life and how she really cared about all her friends and towns’ people, most of all how well she loved Caleb. She loved him with her whole mind, body and soul. He just never saw her he was too blinded by her sister’s boobs. Although he had so much more in common with Alex you could tell from the start of the story.
I love how Alex stays and is the same person but yet in Caleb’s eyes she is the caterpillars morphing into a butterfly. Fast read but so worth it all the supporting characters only add to its charm. Proof readers would be helpful this book had a lot of third grade mistakes.

I got this as a beta read, and enjoyed it so much I had to leave a review.
Falling for the Wingman is a classic storyline that has not been overdone, and Crista McHugh gives it a wonderful treatment.
Flyboy comes home from war to a "Dear John" letter, but who wrote the letters that helped him stay alive in Afghanistan? He fell in love with the woman who wrote those emails. How can she be the same one who ditched him like dirty laundry?
The storyline is one that often makes me want to smack the characters and tell them to 'Just talk to each other!', but McHugh has developed Alex and Caleb so well that every time they fail to do so, the reasons are believable, and every time I thought I might have to shake some sense into them, something changes and the story progresses. Very well done plot management.
Alex is a spunky tomboy, a character type very dear to my heart, as I was (and still am, really) a tomboy. I could totally picture her sitting up under the hood of a car, wrenching away. I could feel her insecurities as the 'plain sister' and black sheep of the family. (Also I role I felt I had in my family.) I envied her self confidence when engaging with Caleb, as that was not a trait I learned until much later in life.
I thought Caleb was sexy as hell and I don't know what Kourtney was thinking, blowing him off. (The cover, btw, does not do my vision of Caleb justice. Alex either, for that matter.) I loved watching his progression from a jilted lover determined to get back the woman he thought he wanted, to confused and torn between the two, to
Crista McHugh is a fresh voice, the Kelly Brothers are proving to be a favorite series. I'm looking forward to backing up to read Ben's story, and reading about Dan, coming up next. -
Caleb Kelly
Alex Leadbetter
Thank you once again to Crista McHugh for supplying this book in return for an Honest review.
And here is that review:
This is the third book in what has become a favorite series for me. These are light easy reading Romance stories, that leave you with a good feeling.
The story this time belongs to Caleb, the third of the Kelly sons to get his happy ever after.
Caleb's story starts off a bit rocky, with him returning from Afghanistan to find out the woman he was coming home to ask to marry him, has in fact left him, and not recently either.
Kourtney Leadbetter, kindly left a "dear John" note on Caleb's bed only days after he was deployed, packed her bags and headed on home, only to take up with one of the towns rich kids. Now they're getting married.
Caleb tracks Kourtney down, and finds out about the marriage through her sister Alex. Together the two form a plan to make Kourtney jealous, and therefore allow Caleb to win her back.
Trouble is, all is not how it seems. Alex has longed for Caleb for some time, and unbeknown to Caleb he has actually been corresponding with her and not Kourtney for most of his tour.
When the couple get together to formulate their plan, sparks fly, and the confusion starts. Caleb had a bad habit of over thinking everything, but I did feel sorry for him, stuck between the two sisters.! Fortunately Kourtney eventually sees the light, but not until a near tragedy. Everything sorts itself out, and all ends well.
Another great story in this entertaining series. I have loved reading these so far,"The Heart's Game" is next up and I'm looking forward to more Happy Ever After's for the Kelly brothers. -
I got this book as a ARC from Netgalley in return for an honest review.
Caleb has just returned home from a mission in Afghanistan only to find the women he loves not there waiting for him. She has left him with nothing but a note and now is engaged to the son of one of the towns richest families.
Caleb is livid he doesn't understand why Kourtney would do this to him after all it was her emails alone that kept him going during his time away. He vows to get Kourtney back and enlists the help of her younger sister Alex to do just that.
Alex starts to panic when she sees Caleb on the front porch demanding to see her sister. She knows its because of the stupid emails she sent Caleb in her sisters name while he was on deployment. If she's honest with herself she's always been in love with Caleb even when he was dating her self centered spoilt brat of a sister. She doesn't understand what Caleb sees in Kourtney they have nothing in common.
So she decides to go along with the scheme of helping Caleb get Kourtney back by making her sister jealous.. In the meantime she hopes Caleb with see her for the woman she is and the true author of those emails he holds close to his heart.
Sometimes we just need a straight forward love affair and this is what this story is, it was a very entertaining southern belle romance with a twist of sibling rivalry.
Caleb and Alex are great together, sweet and fun with a lot of common interests. Throughout the whole book you cant help but root for Alex to get her man. They are after all the perfect match..
I didn't know that this book was in a series, it can be read as a stand alone. But as I enjoyed this book so much I cant wait to meet the other characters of the Kelly Family. -
Imagine being deployed to Afghanistan, receiving e-mails from the beautiful woman you had met and discovering a whole new, wonderful depth to her through those letters, letters that buoyed your spirit and kept you sane in that place, letters that made you fall in love with her. Now, imagine your return and the joy you felt at being home and the anticipation of again being in the arms of the woman you fell in love with. Only...she's not there. Not with the rest of the families meeting their loved ones and not in your home waiting for you. The only thing waiting for you is a dusty letter stating, "she wasn't cut out to be a military wife." WTH! Caleb Kelly has experienced just that...and is on his way to Alabama to get his answers and his girl. He arrives just a week before she is to marry another man.
Alex Leadbetter, younger sister of the ex-girlfriend/social climbing soon-to-be Mrs. Somebody, has always liked Caleb. Caring for him as she does and knowing how her sister is, Alex hacks into Kourtney's computer and writes to him in an effort to keep his spirits up during his deployment...posing as Kourtney. Oh, what a tangled web... Well, the fat has hit the fire and Caleb wants his letter writing girl back or at least some answers but Kourtney won't see him. Alex agrees to help in his mission. Her plan? Make Kourtney jealous by pretending to fall for...Alex. The plan might work except for one thing...it doesn't feel like a pretense anymore. How confusing! How can he be developing feelings for one sister when his e-mail angel means so much to him?
I loved reading about this Kelly brother and his 'girls'. Crista McHugh really nailed small town personas, too. I look forward to checking out the other brothers!

This is the 3rd in Crista’s Kelly Brothers series and I think it’s my favourite so far!
The Kelly Brothers series started with Adam in The Sweetest Seduction, then Ben in Breakaway Hearts and now we get to read all about gorgeous air force pilot Caleb in Falling for the Wingman.
Caleb has returned from the air force to find a note from his girlfriend saying that she’s left him and in a desperate attempt to win her back he heads off to her backwater home town to find out what happened. Caleb hatches a plan to win her back enlisting the help of her sister Alex.
I really, really enjoy a dual POV story and I really liked this here because I whizzed through the story and having both sides of it allowed it to become more rounded even at the speed that I read it. The story is set in a really familial feeling town and that is something that resonates with Caleb and his huge family, but something that also Alex feels the benefit of because of her outside role in her own family. Alex is tied firmly to the town with her beloved car garage and it becomes a bit of an underlying mystery about whether she would be willing to give that life up.
I loved that Caleb enlists Alex’s help. The attraction between the characters is mutual but unrecognised on Caleb’s part at first as he is so dead set on getting Kourtney back. It’s quite a predictable read but it’s sometimes a comfort to have that in a book. There’s also a lot more to Alex than there is to her sister which is quite like the other heroines in the first two stories so she is capable of being an independent character.
This is definitely my favourite so far and that’s probably the reason that I read it so quickly, a romantic read to be enjoyed on a weekend afternoon. -
Caleb comes home from Afghanistan looking to propose to his love. What he finds is she is gone and only left a note behind for him and that she is getting married. She is all that kept him going in the war and he isn't ready to give up. Alex has always wanted Caleb even when he was with her sister. She knows he is to good for her sister but she will do whatever it takes to show him she cares even if it is to help him get her sister back. She convinces him if they act like a couple her sister will come back. What she doesn't tell him is that she is the one who wrote him the emails that helped him get through the war. It starts out fake but soon they see they could have so much more.
Alex is a character I can really like. She is a girl who loves simple things and her small town. She also loves working on cars and isn't a girly girl type. I liked her right away. You see she is also someone with a big heart who cares for others. Caleb is great guy who just has trouble seeing what is right in front of him. He hates to use anyone and feels guilty when he starts to see Alex in a different light. He is very confused and has to work through it and he truly wants the best for Alex.
I really liked this story as the characters are wonderful. I liked the story and how Caleb as to open his eyes to the woman he really needs to be with. Alex has a hard family to deal with. Her mom and sister treat her bad and blame her for everything it seems. Her sister I didn't care for at all. She is selfish and a jerk to put it nicely. I liked how Alex interacts with the people of the town. There is plenty of sexual heat in this book as well. They try to not go to far but it is to much for them to do. If you like a great story about characters try this one. -
Falling For The Wingman by Crista McHugh
4 Stars
Caleb Kelly came home from deployment to a letter on his pillow from the woman he was convinced he would spend the rest of his life with. He decided she was his forever during his deployment; he fell in love with her over the e-mails she sent while he was deployed. So what changed her mind? Determined to get answers he jumps in his car and drives to her hometown in Alabama. Kourtney’s sister Alex could not believe it when Caleb arrived; she hadn’t planned on that. What Caleb doesn’t know is that Kourtney left just a few days after he deployed. What Caleb and Kourtney don’t know is that Alex hacked into Kourtney’s e-mail and was the one who wrote all those heartfelt e-mails to Caleb.
I liked Caleb. He was a good mixed of military guy, car guy, and a guy who loves his family. I did want to slap him for trying to get Kourtney back; actually from the beginning – she left and now is getting married. Alex was a hoot! She is nothing like her mother or sister – she is a person the whole town loves, she is smart and handy with a wrench.
The plot was sort of expected, nothing earth shattering. I enjoyed almost every character – it was just Kourtney and her mother I didn’t enjoy and I don’t think I was supposed to. Some of Alex’s friends where such great characters I would love to see more of them in other books. I did love the ending and Alex and Caleb reaching their HEA.
I would definitely read more in this series; while each story may not be a five star the family dynamic is fun and I enjoy the glimpses back at the past couples.
I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley for my honest review. -
4- I love those Kelly Boys Stars!
Caleb Kelly is home from deployment to find his girlfriend Kourtney has left him. So he returns to her home town to find her getting ready to marry another man. Kourtney's sister Alex swoops in to handle damage control but in the meantime makes a deal to help Caleb win Kortney back.
What Caleb doesn't know is that secretly Alex is hoping he will realize who Kourtney really is and fall for Alex. There is so heat factor between Alex and Caleb but it is real or for show? Alex has always played second fiddle to her sister and for once she wants someone to see her? This is a great read, that I blew through because it was so touching and a quick read. There is some chemistry between Alex and Caleb and just making sure they stop "playing the game" seems to be one of their biggest obstacles. Once both of them seem to finally see what is in front of them, they finally have the one thing they both want, each other.
It is also refreshing to see Kourtney finally come around, would have liked to see her mother get her head out of her own ass, but go to say Caleb does a good job of handing it to her. For that, he gets some serious points.
A cute read with a couple of other Kelly boys spotted throughout. I really enjoy this series and can't wait for more of those fabulous Kelly boys!
*This honest review was done in exchange for an ARC through Netgalley from Christa McHugh- THANK YOU!* -
Falling for the Wingman: Caleb and Alex: Caleb has one thing on his mind when he comes home from his mission, that’s to propose to the women whose letters and lucky charm helped him survive the time in Afghanistan. Coming home he finds the apartment empty with a note saying she left him. Not taking a note as a break up he drives to her mother’s house only to find the she’s getting marry to someone else in one week. Still out to win her back, in comes her younger sister to “Help him”. Alex has always found Caleb too good for her sister, so when she found out that he sister left him, Alex starts writing letters to Caleb to keep his sprites up until he gets home. Alex didn’t expect to fall in love with him over letters, but she did. Now she offers to help him win her sister back much too her unliking. What will happen if something that starts a fake becomes something so much more then Fake.
I think so far this one this my favorite Kelly brother book. I love Caleb and Alex, they are both relatable, loving and caring of each other as well as others. I love how Alex isn’t a girly girl, but a tom boy who loves cars and drinking beer, a women after my own heart. Caleb finds everything about Alex great, to the point he questions what he saw in her sister. The writing and story was amazing as well as the other characters in this story. I found the little twist at the end really put the story over the top. I can’t wait to read the next Kelly Brother book. 5 out of 5 stars. -
Another great romance by Crista McHugh. The Kelly Brother's are a blast to read and I recommend you spend the next few days catching up with Adam and Ben!!
Full Review
Fabulous, Fun and Flirty is how I would describe FALLING FOR THE WINGMAN, Book Three in the Kelly Brother's Series by Crista McHugh. I have been hooked on the series since THE SWEETEST SEDUCTION, and I have to say, they only get better and better as the series goes on!
Caleb and Alex are a perfect pair...if only Caleb would clue in. Instead he is trying to get back the ex-girlfriend who left him while he was away at war, oh, and that girl is also Alex's sister. Alex is the perfect mix of tom-boy and girl-next door, with a hint of a wild side, and Caleb is finding that the more time that he spends with Alex, the less he thinks that trying to get her sister back is a good idea.
I truly enjoyed the flirty banter between Caleb and Alex, and the steamy kisses don't hurt either! This is one of those books where you can't help but be routing for the heroine and hero to FINALLY get together, and I have to say I enjoyed EVERY MINUTE!!
I highly recommend FALLING FOR THE WINGMAN, and I KNOW if you are anything like me, you will want to get your hands on the first two books in the series as well. They are just THAT GOOD!! More Kelly brothers to come is the word from Crista McHugh and I for one am THRILLED! Bring them on!! -
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review, so here it it. In this third installment of The Kelly Brothers, we meet Caleb, an Air Force pilot just returning from his tour. When he gets home, his girlfriend Kourtney is not around and all he has left is a Dear John letter. When Caleb goes to find out what has happened because the emails he was receiving from Kourtney made him fall in love with her enough to want to marry her. When he gets to her mother's house, Alex, Kourtney's sister, meets him and tries to stop him from going inside to find Kourtney and find out what the hell happened. He realizes that Kourtney is planning her wedding. Alex is the sister that no one sees once they see her Barbie doll sister. But Alex has a plan and will try to help Caleb get Kourtney back. But Alex has always liked Caleb and thought he was to good for her materialistic sister. Can Alex help Caleb without falling for him? Will Caleb see which sister is responsible for the emails? Will Caleb loose his heart? This is a perfect series so far and if keeps getting better with each brother. A modern day Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and I am loving every moment of this. So sit back, grab a drink and throw a blanket over you and get lost in The Kelly Brothers, they are sexy, determined, well-educated and each with a different career.
