Big Book Of Knitting Stitch Patterns Reviews

If Barbara G. Walker's Treasuries are the Bible of Knitting, then here are the gnostic gospels. This is an interesting collection of over 500 stitch variations—many of which I've not seen elsewhere.

This would be a 5-star book, but for its sheer weight. Such glossy, heavy paper isn't necessary. As a matter of fact, the choice of colorful swatches may be eye-candy, but pure rot for detail. Far better to go with clear black & white, with more attention to the charted patterns. Nor would it hurt for better organization: Basic stitches, Classic Stitches, Crossover Stitches, "Creative Stitches" (seriously?), Lace Stitches, Textured Stitches, Slip Stitch Patterns, Multicolored Stitches, and Jacquard Patterns is rather inadequate to describe the various categories.

Having said that, this volume inspires me to delve, experiment, and play. Therefore: WIN!

This book is a great knitting resource. I have referred to it often for projects that I am making up as I go along as well as to add texture to pieces that I am working on from patterns (with some adjustments for changes in gauge).
