Halloween is coming up at Olivia’s school and she is excited. She wants to decorate with red, but is told by her Francine that only orange and black are Halloween colors. Then, Olivia must decide what her costume will be. There are so many options, what will she choose?

I love the Olivia books. I kind of wish these easy readers were written by Ian Falconer though. There is an element of sarcastic whimsy that is missing from the picture books in the easy readers. Olivia is such a multi-layered, creative character. The easy reader Olivia comes off as two-dimensional at times. Nonetheless, I liked this book. It has a happy ending, with the perfect Halloween costume for Olivia (an artist).

Olivia books are always fun and snappy and hit on some conflict or thing that needs a fix with a simple
    solution.
New readers will enjoy the colours, easy text, friendship (Kindies and grade ones), and sharing that is part of their school day in this Olivia outing.
Olivia has spunk and her pals have her back. She loves red but red's not really a Halloween colour. There is a compromise afoot and everyone benefits.
    Quick fun read.

Olivia is trying to decided what to be for Halloween, everyone has good suggestions, but she want to be something that uses her favorite color of red.

Super cute read and a character that is loveable!

Olivia the Pig books are a hit in my house, mainly because my daughter's name is Olivia, and she loves pigs. (Well, okay, she loves animals in general.) There are a thousand of these books. (The accuracy of this statement is questionable.)

Anyway, "Olivia Loves Halloween" is an early reader book, so if your child is in first or second grade and learning to read, this might be a fun book to read at bedtime together.

At school, her friend wants to decorate the classroom with many colors, but Olivia thinks it should only be traditional Halloween colors: orange, black, and brown. Olivia is also having a hard time deciding what to be for Halloween. She decides to be an artist. When she finds out her friend is also dressing as an artist, she is upset at first. Then, she sees how beautifully her friend decorated the classroom using other colors, and she's not upset. She learns that it's okay if her friend dressed up as an artist, too, because, as Olivia says, "Good minds think alike."

Reader’s Advisory selection for a kid who loves books about pigs, monsters, and Halloween. Well, two out of three ain’t bad and this one is super cute. Olivia loves the color red and decides to be a painter in a red smock for Halloween. Great lessons on listening to friends, sharing, and compromise.

In this easy reader, Olivia wants red as a Halloween color. Her friend adds red to the color of the party decorations. It was a lesson in how to be thoughtful of others in order to maintain friendships!
