As women, we want to fully live up to our God-given potential. But we fall victim to the messages the world whispers in our ears: “You need to buy all of this stuff in order to feel complete.” “You’d be a lot happier if you had a different husband.” “If you’re not super mom and you can’t do it all, you aren’t good enough.”The reality is, what the world tells us isn’t true. If we listened to these messages, our lives would become harried, empty, and phony. Instead we need to listen to the messages that God gives us in his Word. A great place to start is Proverbs 31. The woman described in this passage seems like the ideal woman, and she is. But even more, she is real. She is authentic and true, with a heart for God, a heart for her family, and a heart for her community. How do you become that woman? It’s a journey, and it happens by the choices you make every day. The NIV Real-Life Devotional Bible for Women will help you become the woman you want to be. With insightful daily devotions from Lysa TerKeurst and the women at Proverbs 31 Ministries, this Bible helps you maintain life’s balance in spite of today’s hectic pace. The 365 daily devotions inspire you to live authentically as a woman of God.

You spilled coffee on your shirt before walking out the door. Ran late to your appointment. Snapped at your children, then regretted it all day. And spent an hour at the grocery store with no dinner on the table to show for your efforts. A typical day has come and gone.
Life is full of obligations, emotions, and relationships. Some are life-giving, yet sometimes the weight and responsibility of everyday life is heavy to bear. As wives, mothers, friends, and daughters, we need to know we're not alone. We long for someone who understands---someone to help us find perspective. When our days are long, and our nights are restless, it's easy to think we should be able to handle things on our own. Or that no one struggles like we do. And that's when we need a friend ... to encourage us, to understand us, and help us become the woman God wants us to be. You'll find that friend on the pages of the NIV Real-Life Devotional Bible for Women.
Filled with insightful daily devotions written by Lysa TerKeurst and the women at Proverbs 31 Ministries, the devotions in this Bible will meet you right where you are, in the good days and in the hard days, in the car pool line or the doctor's office. With God's truth as the foundation, this Bible will help you maintain a peace-filled place of balance in spite of your life's hectic pace. Features: The beauty and clarity of the New International Version (NIV) Bible 366 daily devotions from the women at Proverbs 31 Ministries inspire you to live authentically as a woman of God.
I used the NIV REAL-LIFE DEVOTIONAL BIBLE FOR WOMEN with my children for Bible study/devotions so we could put it to practical use before I reviewed it. The devotionals are short, easy to read, and interspaced through the Bible. If you want a devotional, you do need to thumb through the Bible to find them. The devotions are designed for women in all stages of life.
I like that notes are included in the devotionals, so if you want to look up more verses you can. I also like that the format of both the Bible and devotionals are easy-to-read. You might want to have a notebook handy for notes and thoughts as you read, unless you like to write in margins.
If you are looking for in-depth, study devotionals, then you might want to look further. If you want a short one that doesn’t take much time, but gives you a moment with God, these are for you. Plus – there’s a Bible attached! 1536 pages. 4.5 stars. $25.00

***Esxcellent real-life devotions penned for women from Proverbs 31 ministries***

Bibles and devotions go together kind of like locks and keys since devotions are sometimes the key that “unlock” scripture with fresh insights. That’s especially true in the NIV Real Life Devotional Bible for Women from Zondervan Publishers released March 19th. Devotions, penned for women by women from Proverbs 31 Ministries and the President Lysa TerKeurst, share collective hurts, struggles and worries common to all. From young mothers to married women to single or older women, gospel targeted narratives touch hearts and minds with the reality of God’s truth, forgiveness, redemption and grace.

Three-hundred-sixty-six single page devotions are positioned near the scripture’s text for ease of lookup. Narratives are numbered but do not include dates or follow a specific reading plan.
Each features a topical theme, brief elaboration with related scripture at the bottom, even a “go to” note for the next devotion.

For example, the devotion, No need to fear by Micca Campbell (pg. 824) is about negative aspects of fear that paralyze emotionally, breed fear, suspicion and worry. Such fear robs us of sleep and leads to distraction during the day over real or imagined consequences. Dozens of bible verses tell God’s children not to be afraid like the verse from this devotion, Isaiah 41:13. “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you.’”

I enjoyed the devotionals in this Bible. Many of them were thoughtful and just what I needed on a tough day. Some were a little cringe-worthy to read in retrospect when one considers the circumstances of Lysa TerKeurst's divorce, and almost all of Melanie Chitwood's devotionals were pure complementarian garbage. There was at least one other (not by Chitwood) where the husband was condescending and infantilizing towards his wife, and this was held up illustrative and positive. If we could take scissors to that devotional and almost all of Chitwood's, then this would be a 5-star women's devotional Bible.

(This is a review of the devotionals in this Bible, not the NIV text. I would give the current NIV translation 4.5 stars.)

My only complaint is there is zero correlation to the devotionals. I used my YouVersion Bible app to read this in a year because if I’d have read it based on the devotionals I would have a day I’d read 40 pages and the next day I’d read one. So confusing.

I loved the actual devotionals and I loved that it was multiple people.

I just didn’t like the structure as much as I was hoping.

Down to earth, a beautiful cover for both the hardcover and leatherbound, I was really impressed with the "Real Life Devotional" Bible and geared for real life it is; Although I normally prefer the ESV translation, the NIV translation is beautiful written and with annotations along each page of the Bible, containing keywords and notes and devotionals that blended beautiful with the books, they were contained in, this is definitely a great devotional/study Bible for busy women.

There are well known writers that have contributed to the devotionals, but for me, it is the visual appeal of this Bible, that really makes it stand out.

The devotionals are beautiful and relevant, but the visual layout of the Bible makes this both a calming and visually friendly Bible for women and the duo-tone leather bound version, though I didn't get a chance to review that copy, looks to be easy to open and lay flat while in use, which is important for many using a Bible, since one doesn't want to worry about cracking the spine or having to use something to have the Bible lay flat open.

Along with a list of devotions that are scattered within the Bible, the Bible also has the usual topical index to make finding key topics easier and the pages for the hardbound copy, are thick enough for highlighting, although there isn't much space for note taking, if one is prone to do that, so use of post it notes are more in favor.

I don't use regular highlighters since the ones I use are either dry highlighters or colored pencils, so bleed through maybe possible with "wet" highlighters or pens, so care of what is used is recommended there.

The font is approximately 7-8 point so its very easy on the eyes, particularly if bleary eye from just waking up or tired and ready to go to bed, so straining to read the words isn't a problem either with this Bible.

With the devotions, they are like self-contained "Bible study bites" with "more verses to explore" at the lower left hand corner, so this really is a very self contained devotional Bible to either use with a Bible study or stand alone as both a source to read the books of the Bible with a devotional break contained in the Bible.

Personally, this is a beautiful Bible....and a Bible that one would be very reluctant to use a bible cover with, due to the beautiful design of it; Though this isn't a reason to use a Bible, it still doesn't hurt how the aesthetics of the Bible was well thought out.

The hardbound is actually "light to the touch" and easy to drop in one's purse or backpack for travel; The clarity of the devotionals combined with the Scripture, really has brought to busy women, a Bible that...."You spilled coffee on your shirt before walking out the door. Ran late to your appointment....." brings with it, the encouragement, clarity and comfort that our busy world needs.

The NIV real-life Devotional Bible for Women is a beautiful hard cover Bible with 366 days of devotionals by more than two dozen faithful women from the Proverbs 31 Ministries. The introduction shares both the Old and New Testament Books of the Bible followed by a listing in alphabetical order. You can learn more about the NIV version of the Holy Word. You can learn more about each of the authors and contributing writers along with their devotionals listed in the rear of the book. Also, included is the Topical Index and Table of Weights and Measures pages to help you learn more about the text.

It feels good to know that when I want to read a devotional there is no pressure to begin with Day 1, Day 2 and so on. With the recent passing of my step-father I have been concerned about my siblings. I simply refer to the Topical Index and find the word "siblings". There are three devotionals pertaining to siblings of which one talks about sibling rivalry. I start the day by reading "Run the Right Race" a story about sisters Rachel and Leah written by Rachel Olsen located on page thirty-seven in the Old Testament book of Genesis chapter 29. Also, I find encouraging words about sibling rivalry, a Bible verse to meditate on and follow up verses to explore.

I recommend reading the new NIV real-life Devotional Bible for Women if you seek and want to grow deeper in your spiritual walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. Reading devotionals from the new NIV real-life Devotional Bible for Women offers encouragement which feeds my spirit on a daily basis. This devotional Bible would be a great gift to share with family or friends. What a special gift idea for and upcoming birthday or holiday!

The "NIV Real-Life Devotional Bible for Women" is an absolute gem, combining the long-loved NIV version of the Bible with 365 days of devotional readings from Lysa Terkeurst and the Proverbs 31 Ministries. I myself regularly use the NIV version, so the Bible itself is familiar to me and a version that I believe offers a lot in its faithful translation. But the devotions that have been included with this Bible are also very well written, seeming to fit well in terms of where they are placed in the scriptures, and truly challenging the reader to examine their walk with God and dig deep into the word. My wife kindly assisted me in reviewing the Bible, and loved reading through the devotions. Not only did she find them to be interesting and applicable, she appreciated the extra features like the section pointing readers to "more verses to explore", designed to get you digging into applicable passages to that day's reading. One of the devotional entries that stood out to us both is entitled "Heart Whispers" and is tucked into the book of Isaiah by chapter 29. The entry recounts how a woman felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to contact another woman struggling with cancer, but she got too busy to follow the prompting, and soon after learned the woman had passed away. We were challenged as we were left with the thought from the author that "I have made a commitment to God and to myself that I will never again ignore even the quietest whisper from the Holy Spirit. I will pray for discernment and courage to step out in faith and obedience, even if his reasons are unclear".

If you are looking for a book that will ignite your prayer life by not only getting you into the Word, but seeking to truly apply it to your life and faithfully live out God's promises, then check out this latest Women's Bible from Zondervan. You'll likely want a copy not only for yourself, but your loved ones as well. 4.5 out of 5 stars.

My life is really busy. It’s chaotic, full of crazy and very often, it’s hard to find peace. I’ve also had many, many Bibles throughout my lifetime. I’ve had study Bibles and women’s Bibles and small ones and big ones and…you get the picture.

The Real Life Devotional Bible for Women stepped out of the mold for me. Short, creative devotionals are peppered throughout this Bible – enough for someone to have a new devotional daily (as the title says) and they are wonderful. In the first few days of use, this Bible overtook my other Bibles to become my go-to study tool. Along with that, several of the insights from Proverbs 31 women made huge impact in the way I view my day, my studies, and my responsibilities. I’ve already highlighted not only tons of verses, but made notes in the margins on the devotions too!

One thing to make note of is that if you want a study Bible, this one does not have a lot of space for those notes I just mentioned. I put most of mine in the areas with the devotions themselves. That’s a minor issue for me as I’ve partnered this with a notebook to keep track of my reading and thoughts. But if you’re looking for one place you can write everything, this may not be the Bible for that.

I also love how sturdy this Bible is. It’s a hardcover edition and that makes it a little more durable for me. (I love my leather Bibles, but there’s also some really nice enjoyment in pulling this one open!)

This is an absolutely gorgeous book. The cover art is amazing and it’s so beautiful sitting on my desk. I love to keep it here – that reminds me to open it and read it!

Two thumbs way up on this Bible. This is a perfect gift for that special woman in your life or a good investment for yourself if you’re in the market for it!

I am a fan of Lysa TerKeurst's Proverb 31 Ministries therefore I was more than pleased to review this bible. This bible is available as an ebook (ebible) but the leather version is a very beautiful and compact bible. Any woman would love to receive this bible as a gift.

I always enjoy devotionals and other writings by the women in the Proverbs 31 Ministries. The Real Life Devotional Bible for Women (NIV) contains 366 devotions from these lovely ladies. The devotions are numbered, not dated, which makes it a more realistic bible for today's busy women who may not have time to read the bible every day despite their desire to do so. I found the devotions in this bible to be very encouraging for a busy woman like myself. There is also an index of devotions by author included. This can be helpful because sometimes when you find an author that you particularly are fond of, you may wish to see what else they have to say...right there and then!

I have discovered that I have a heart for women's ministry as I have set out to find my place in the church and I know that owning this bible will be a wonderful assistance to me and I go forward. I found the Real Life Devotional Bible to be very inspiring and I am sure that other women will as well.

I enjoy devotionals, but it is the devotionals that are wrapped within the text of scripture that will get me to read further. Otherwise, I'll mean to read on from the topic in my favorite Bible, but one thing or another always distracts me. With this NIV Real-Life Devo Bible I'm able to read the devotion, read the relative scriptures and then if something really moves me I can mark it for memory in the favorite go-to Bible. I really like this one, the devotions are not just shoved in here and there, but they actually relate to the scriptures that they are surrounded by. The cover jacket is lovely, and the blue chosen for the highlight text inside is pretty too. The text is standard and small, and not a special font, but over all it's attractive.

  • Tonya

I was thoroughly excited to get my hands on this new NIV devotional Bible. However, I didn't know that some of my other favorite ladies at Proverbs 31 had done devotionals for it too, like Wendy Pope, Melissa Taylor, Karen Ehman, Micca Campbell, Renee Swope, Lynn Cowell, Suzie Eller and more! Each of these ladies really know how to speak to us women and with God's directions, speak to my heart each day.

For a few years now I have followed all these ladies, so I will treasure this devotional Bible. The cover is divine. Each day brings some new words from our Savior, and a brilliant little nugget the ladies have shared with us.

Add this Bible to your daily devotions, what a blessing I know it will be for you!

  • Maureen Timerman

I was excited to receive this beautiful bible. It comes with a very pretty dust jacket, and when I took it off the same print is on the hard cover.
I've been using this bible for a few weeks, and greatly enjoying it.
There are 365 days of devotionals done by the woman at Proverbs 31 Ministries, which I love reading. One of the authors is the President of Proverbs Lysa TerKeust...awesome!
Should be noted that some people have mention that the print is small, now I wear glasses and no problems at all. This Bible is a definite keeper. It has become my daily to go to. I feel so blessed that I was given the opportunity to review. God is Good!

I received this Bible through First Wild Card Book Tours, and was not required to give a positive review.

  • Joy

First off I have to say I love the two tone teal color of this Bible, fits my style perfectly and the compact size is ideal for any woman . It fits easily into my hand and just about any bag. Next I love the daily devotions which seem to fit every time I read one. Very inspiring! There are 366 devotions along with a good subject index, the print is small but yet it's a good size for me.

Love the clarity of the New International Version and again I will say the color is awesome, what a pretty Bible!

I received a copy of this book free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

  • Audra Denniston

I bought this book as just a devotional to read when I could. I didn't see at purchase (Amazon) that the devotions were tucked into the bible. This notion got me to read, for the first time, the Bible! Bravo, Proverbs 31!! I loved this translation, it was so easy to read and understand. Reading the bible has given me so much needed clarity. The Bible isn't meant to be randomly picked apart. Buy this book!!

  • Heather

This is a beautiful Bible full of insightful devotional readings. These devotionals are written by several different women, and there’s an index in the back in which you can look up each writer’s pieces. There’s also a section about these authors, where you can learn more about them and their walk with God. There is also a very useful topical index, too. I love the use of colors and the fonts chosen. It’s lovely to look at, easy to read, and (again) full of insightful devotionals.

  • Bridget

The words “real-life” in the name of this Bible is spot on. The devotions throughout this Bible are so down to earth, easy to absorb, and truly talk about real-life situations. They bring meaning and insight in a fresh way. I highly recommend this Bible.

  • Crystal Scott

Wonderful Bible, I love the devotions and the layout!!

100% Enjoyed reading this Bible. This became my favorite Bible.
