BRANNIGAN by Bill Williams
Was the seventh of the author's eleven published novels and he likes to think of them as thrillers set in the background of the wild west which is a genre he has always enjoyed.
Carl Brannigan was banished from his home by his pa even though he was cleared by a jury of killing his closest friend, Robert Henshall. Brannigan returns home four years later, and he has changed from the rebellious youngster and aims to become a lawman. He receives an unexpected welcome from his pa, but learns that the Henshall family had brought about the ruin of his pa’s cattle ranch by denying his herd access to the water and grazing on Henshall land.
The Brannigan name is involved in fresh shame, but this time it isn’t Carl who is the accused.
Carl overcomes local resentment and becomes a deputy marshal, hoping that it will help him clear the family name and bring the real culprits to justice. Life is good, but he is threatened by a threat from his past.
