Frederick Douglass: The Most Complete Collection of His Written Works \u0026 Speeches Reviews
-
Excellent look into the life of a slave in Eastern Shore Maryland in the mid-nineteenth century. The stories of William Douglas' interaction with his owners, both good and bad illustrates the evils of slavery. He acceptance into a free community in Mass. is heartwarming. I recommend it to all readers interested in a view of slavery told by a former slave who rose to intellectual heights as a diplomat and a newspaper publisher.
