The Girl Across the Street Reviews
-
Very cute story line for two teenagers that fall in love during their puberty years. However, to keep their friendship alive, they both decide not to fill the other one in on their feelings. Better to have a life long friend than to mess it up forever, right?
However, Tim couldn't hide it any longer. He wanted Ashlee; all of her. And when it came time for them to separate in order to attend different colleges, his feelings came out. Ashlee on the other hand wanted time away from him to see if her feelings were deeper than friendship. So instead, she wrote him a message in a bottle until she could tell him herself.
However, tragedy strikes and Tim is left to pick up the pieces. The pieces include a message in a bottle.............
This book provides a very important message for all to learn: Never go without letting those you care for and appreciate know just how much you do care and appreciate them! -
This is about a guy named Tim telling the story of a girl across the street—a girl named Ashlee, who is now the love of his life.
He has always loved her, but now that they are in high school, that love is different.
The bulk of the story is centered on him pining over her. I grew tired of hearing about how great Ashlee was—her smile, her eyes, her hair, her laugh, and her body, which is doing strange and exciting things to Tim. It was all very redundant and blasé. -
This book was cute and it had me sobbing at a couple points but the ending was happy and I liked it. It was cute and entertaining and I liked that it was told from the boy’s perspective.

Romantic stories are usually told from the perspective of the girl, but for a change, this one is all about young love as related by the boy. I didn't know if it was intentional but the writing style was such that it was like reading the diary of this young man, that is if boys even keep a diary,
Until it got towards the end, the plot was all about the ideal and happy lives of young people - growing up together, good families, great friendship, high school, college... Then something turned and it was suddenly all about grief and moving on. If at first it started out like one out of a Sweet Valley High book, it suddenly became one like from Nicholas Sparks.
I am reserving my judgment for this author until I get to read his other works, so I am going neutral this time. This is a great book for young readers, but a word of caution to the more mature readers like me...the plot and writing may come to you as shallow, so if you are quick to judge that way, this is not for you. One has to look past the seeming shallowness to appreciate this. -
This book is very heart-warming but sad at the same time. This story is about a teenage boy named Tim and his neighbor Ashlee. Tim and Ashlee have been neighbors since they were younger, Tim was falling in love with Ashlee but never wanted to tell her how he felt because he didnt want to lose Ashlee. Tim is growing up and becoming more curious with the other sex, he begans to experiment more wih Ashlee but to him its more then just messing around. This book has graphic details i did not think would be in the story. Tim has to see Ashlee go on other dates with boys and see how the other boys talk about her and stare at her. All he ever wanted to do was call Ashlee his own. When Ashlee tells him how she feels, Tim doesn't know if he should Ashlee how he feels if he does will it ruin their friendship? Or if he doesn't will he ever be able to tell her?

Really wanted to like it but it left me disappointed...
I didnt hate this book, but I really didnt like it too much. What I did like was the fact that it was written based on Tim's point of view. What I didnt like was the unhealthy relationships that Tim had with all his close female friends. Though he was a "nice" guy yet he was a cheater and never saw himself as such. Also the book dragged on and on repeating the same thing, should I tell her, we've grown up, I dont want to ruin our friendship.... My goodness we got the point the first 10 times you said it. Also I felt Ashlee was playing games with Tim. She just seemed manipulative and the ending of the book was horrible! What a major let down. I honestly wished I had just skipped this book after reading the last few chapters. I really wanted to like it, but I give it 2 stars. Perhaps the authors other books are better. -
Sweet, Young Love
This story is so sweet and touching. A great read about true friendship and love. I love how this book explores how Tim and Ashlee's feeling grow from best friends to a deep love and how it creates a very special friendship. I also loved their deep friendship with Meghan. This book brought out a lot of emotions and I enjoyed it but it left me sad for the chances not taken. -
