From Thin Air (A Black Swan Historical Romance, #2) Reviews
-
Ira Brown returns from WWI to find that his fiancee is happily married to another man and his entire family died during the Influenza Epidemic. Alice, who always loved Ira, is amazed and happy at his return. While Ira was always attracted to Alice, her reputation as an airhead discouraged him from considering her wife material. Alice hires Ira to give him a home after his negative return, and in close proximity to each other neither can deny their attraction. I love Alice and Ira, however Brown's romances are a little to gentle for my personal taste. Still, I think I will finish out this series to find out what will happen to the youngest sister.

When I'm in the mood for a nice, well written, sweet romance Carolyn Brown is a safe bet. This story took place in post war America when many servicemen were coming home to find their families deceased, their fiance's married to other men and their homes gone. This is Ira's story and how he fell in love with Alice. I fell in love with the characters and finished the book feeling happy with the way it ended.
Carolyn Brown's Broken Roads romances are also wonderful. -
Sweet story
Ira McNewell went to war engaged to Catherine O'Shea. When injured, he lost his memory long enough that he was thought to be someone else and declared dead. Catherine fell in love and married another man. When Ira showed up alive and ready to break off his engagement, Catherine's sister, Alice, finally has a chance with the man she'd secretly loved since she first met him. As all romance books go, Ira and Alice have plenty of trouble coming together, but when they do - fireworks! A fun book that had me smiling the whole time I was reading. -
Ira & Alice
Alice is the air as her mother told her and so people have already said that she has air up there and not a brain. In reality she is a genius and not good at everyday stuff.
IRA was engaged to Catherine the oldest O'Shea girl until he went off to war and was reported dead. Catherine met another man and married him.
IRA coming home was a surprise to everyone and set off a series of events that will keep you reading to the end. -
Another amazing book
Could not put this book down. Had to finish the whole thing before I could do other things. This author created characters that are so real that you feel like you live among them. One minute you are laughing, the next weeping. What a story teller. God has blessed her with a talent for the ages. -
Not one of Brown's better books, in my opinion.
This story was as slow as the character Alice is supposed to be. Ira isn't very relatable and there were too many unnecessary characters. Again, just my opinion. -
Alive and lost
Engaged to the oldest sister, declared dead and the soldier comes home. The middle sister has to give him the run down her sister is married, his family has all passed away and he has no home. Love always finds a way. -
Second in a series. I didn't like it quite as much as the first book, but it was a nice, clean romance. Characters were a little more far-fetched this time.

DNF 76%
I'm disappointed with this one, after finishing the last book, I was hoping Alice's story would be better, but I guess not. Could not be bothered to see how they ultimately end up together.
