    To the highest standard

I bought this to get some idea of the possibilities of crochet, but I have to concede that these patterns might be a bit tricky for a beginner or a novice.

  • Bonnie Cook

    Easy to understand. Nice patterns.

  • Anne Hawn Smith

This is a free electronic leaflet with some nice projects in it. I love the Zodiac scarf made with short rows and I'm sure I will make it. I also like the Sunset Shrug which would be nice for Florida evenings and a lot of fun to make. There is also a slant afghan which would be easy to turn into a scarf and could be done in lots of scraps.

Lion Brand has come out with a lot of new designer yarns that are very nice and less expensive than some of the Knitting shop variety. There will always be a place for the beautiful knit shop yarns, but if the scarf is going to a 13 year old that may hate it when she is 14, they are a great choice.

    Patterns well explained

I thought the pattern instructions were well explained, especially making sure the stitch abbreviations were explained. Most of the patterns were unattractive to me, there was only one or two I might actually use...but everyone has their own tastes. In general, I use patterns to learn new stitches or techniques for making my own, so my rating isnt based on the looks of their designs--but rather, their means of achieving it. If there were more step by step illustrations, particularly of less common stitches, this book would get 5 stars. Thankfully, there is you tube ;).

Lion Brand's New Fall Collection: 15 Free Crochet Scarf Patterns, Afghan Patterns, and More by Editors of AllFreeCrochet
Starts out with a letter from the editor about the items included, history of the company and table of contents where items are not in any special order.
Each pattern starts with a title, color photo, size, materials needed , gauge and directions in how to make.
After every pattern or in between there is a commercial for the yarn brand.
Some items are for easy, medium and difficult levels.
Lots of things to make, quite the variety.

    Projects look dated

I can’t speak on the patterns, haven’t attempted any, because nothing really stood out. The projects look plain and old fashioned, not in a cool vintage or antique way. Not sure if I’ll attempt anything from this book, because nothing got my crojo going.

Pictures are very small and when you try to enlarge, they are very blurry. This is the thing that gets you excited and makes you want to recreate the piece, and it doesn’t even function properly.

    Original stuff

New ideas n options in the wonderful world of crochet but I really dislike being forced to submit a review with a certain amount of words.

  • Pam Link

    Great patterns!

  • Kimberly

    Great patterns. Love Lion Brand!

  • Amanda Karas

    Beautiful Patterns!

This book is well worth your time. It has a variety of beautiful and inspiring patterns! I cannot wait to make them all!

Lion Brand's New Fall Collection: 15 Free Crochet Scarf Patterns, Afghan Patterns, and more is a nice little book to have on my kindle to inspire me when I have needles and yarn and am traveling. I like having access to crochet patterns when I am offline, and when I do not have "real" books with me. Most of these patterns can be found on the Lion Brand web site (which is wonderful), but it is handy to have these here for the using in my kindle.

  • Misty Rae

The last Lion book that I download.

It is annoying to see such poorly assembled ebooks. As a large company, one would think that you could find the time to at least write intros for your patterns so they can seem to belong together. I would wager that more time is spent making the cover image than assembling the content.

    Nothing outstanding

Only found one pattern of interest. New favorite Afghan. With Lion Brand books, I usually will find at the least 15 or more patterns that I would want to make!

    Nice gift ideas

I like the variety of projects - some nice scarves and cute baby/kids' items that can be worked up quickly. And of course, the price is right!

  • Amy Brown

    Seems like more

It's nice to have a bunch a free and varied patterns all in one place. Not sure any of them scream at me, but it's nice to have them stored for a rainy day.

  • Amber

Nice well written patterns including the cowboy boot booties. (The only thing I might make from this book.)
