Six Inches Deep in Mud begins as Mr. Darcy attends Mr. Bingley on an outing to dine with the officers. an event that he had not anticipated being enjoyable, but that turns out well, despite his apprehensions.
While they are out, Miss Caroline Bingley invites Miss Jane Bennet to tea. When she shows up, on horseback in the rain, she takes ill and must remain at Netherfield.
The following morning, Mr. Darcy is out with the Netherfield steward assessing the fenceline state of disrepair. He notices Miss Elizabeth Bennet making her way toward Netherfield. Watching her for a few moments, his mind is thrown into a dream that tempts the limits of his desires.
Will Mr. Darcy succumb to the temptations that his wife, Elizabeth Darcy lays before him, or will he withstand her charms?
Six Inches Deep in Mud is a stand-alone short story.

Six Inches Deep in Mud
Well, Darcy sure has a very vivid imagination! While out with Netherfield's steward checking fences for Bingley, he spies Elizabeth Bennet walking the fields toward Pemberley. In his mind, he sees a wedding band on his ring finger and images of them begin to overcome his senses. He and Elizabeth are riding together to check out Pemberley's fences. When they step to rest, they have a very romantic moment against a tree. Before mounting the horses, Darcy tells her that this is all a dream. The steward wakes him from his romantic wool-gatherings, and Darcy seeing that Elizabeth is twenty minutes from Netherfield, tells the steward they are finished for the day and races back to Bingley's home. Quickly changes his clothes and greets Elizabeth when she enters. As she leaves for her sister's sick room, Darcy listens to Caroline''s account of Elizabeth. Darcy cannot stand her mutterings, leaves the room and ponders why he cannot have what he wants. Too short. Story was over before I knew it! -
Six inches deep
Again a very short story version and second installment of P&P. In this book we've advanced to Jane sick an Elizabeth tending to her. Very interesting in site into Darcy's daydreams. Enjoyable read and now onto the book.
Definitely adult rated. -
Alors une petite vignette sans grand intérêt où Darcy fantasme durant un chapitre sur Lizzy.. C'est bien gentil mais ça n'apporte absolument rien, ni à l'histoire, ni aux personnages.
Le fantasme est d'ailleurs assez peu cohérent avec l'époque, tant sur la familiarité des personnages que sur le fait qu'ils font l'amour un peu partout ( ce qui ne cadre pas avec le sens de la dignité des deux).
Ce que j'aime : euh Darcy amoureux ?
Ce que j'aime moins : le peu de décorum des personnages dans le fantasmes de Darcy
En bref : Une mini histoire "scène cachée" de Pride & Prejudice agréable à lire mais qui n'apporte rien de nouveau et tranche un peu avec les personnages que nous connaissons

Again Ayr Bray takes us into the seductive mind of Mr Darcy, and wee get to see what he was thinking of while staring at Elizabeth Bennet. See my review for Not Handsome Enough.

A little dull then it ended abruptly.

It was short, but I loved how Darcy dreamed about his marriage life, it was very romantic.
