Finamore's book is one of the closest argued classical theses that I've encountered in some time and is absolutely essential reading for any scholars dealing with Iamblichus or the idea of the vehicle of the soul. That being said, there is one glaring reason this book doesn't get a five star rating: the publisher. For whatever reason, Scholars Press saw fit to release what appears to be a photocopy of a double-spaced thesis composed on a typewriter! There was zero typesetting or editing that occurred, making this volume appear to be much less than it is. Finamore's work deserves a much better presentation, and I can only hope that a revised edition will appear at some point in the future.
