It's sad to see 5 of Pisemsky's 6 novels, most of his plays, and a good part of his short fiction presented as a long way down from an early peak (chapter 5 is called "Decline and Extinction," but that's how most of the book feels), but apparently that's how it looked to his contemporaries too. This is a nice short book that covers biography, works, and reception, and it also has an excellent if by now dated bibliography, including translations of Pisemsky's works into several languages.
