Authors Adan Jimenez and Felicia Low-Jimenez aka AJ Low have done it again and it's easy to see why the series has become a firm favourite with kids. They've got great characters, recognizable locations and each book weaves intrigue, adventure and fun in slightly over a hundred pages. I've seen even the most reluctant readers waiting anxiously for the next installment. The measure of a good children's book is how well it's received by kids, not adults and by gosh, I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, they've made the series into a solid hit. I can't wait to see a TV adaptation of this series, but doubt it will be as good as the books. I, for one, will be sad to see the series come to an end. AJ Low are on track to becoming the most popular authors in the region and that's not hyperbole, friends, so go out and grab the books if you haven't already!

    The book wasn’t funny

Cute story and premise. Can see why the authors are doing well. Only thing that annoyed me a lil is.. yes yes we get it..you are a geeky couple ..no need to turn everything into some geeky reference..

A very thrilling and entertaining book. I loved the part when Sherlock and the supper club were on their own without Sherlock's parents at night and that they have to find the person causing all the chaos on Pulau Ubin.

I'm glad I ordered this book series for the students during my stint as a school librarian. Even as an adult, I too thoroughly enjoyed reading the Sherlock Sam series!

Sherlock Sam and the Alien Encounter on Pulau Ubin is the fourth book of the Sherlock Sam series. It follows Sherlock Sam and his supper club, where they go on a camping trip in Pulau Ubin. As always, the mystery wasn't easy to figure out, and had many funny and entertaining moments. The characters are always interesting and fun, each bringing their own energy to the book. Highly recommend to young singaporean readers!

Local writers (especially children writers) should be encouraged but 4 books in quick succession before the year is up has certainly degraded if not diluted the potential of this children series.

Characterisation in this 4th book seems to be lacking and the name-dropping of certain food/location and now with quotes from scientist just loses the plot for me. And is starting to grate on my nerves. A serious case of over-reaching and chewing more than one can swallow.

Who is Sherlock Sam? He seems to be a construct for the authors to project whatever ideas they have and a signpost to whatever location in Singapore they can place him in - Queenstown? Punggol? Wild boars in Jurong next?

This series started on a promising note (stable family with robot) but with every ever-increasing index page and every multi-cultural character thrown in it to widen its international market appeal the plotting/content is starting to sound preachy and touristy.

Quality control is needed to bring back Sherlock Sam before he gets wiped out on the Wave House on Sentosa (oh yes, I am sure there's a book in that geographically)

Sherlock Sam is starting to sound like a avatar for the Singapore Tourism Board for children.

Adventure set at my favorite country side in Singapore. A story of care and love with mosquitos to make you dance and complain.
