Julia has never been on a date in her life. She's a curvy girl with no money, no education, and no way out of the town she works in as a library assistant... until Damien shows up. He's just like the prince charming Julia always imagined would sweep her off of her feet. There are just a few things standing in the way of true happiness: he's blind, he's dating someone, and he's WAY out of her league.

Oh, and he's a werewolf.

Damien lost his eyes two years ago in a wolf battle. Ever since then, the straggler pack of disabled wolves he leads has been searching for a place to call home. One house seems like the perfect choice, but Damien realizes too late that the person who lives there is the girl he met at the library. The human girl. Damien is torn between loyalty to his pack and raw lusting desire for the girl who haunts his dreams day and night.

She's a human. How could she be his true mate?

From NYTimes and USA Today Bestselling author Aubrey Rose comes a new shifter book that's as wild and hot as anything. This werewolf shifter BBW romance novella is 25,000 words long, has some naughty language, and a lot of naughty sex. Be warned!

Blind Wolf (Blind Wolf #1) Reviews

Oh my f**k! really? I think... no I lie... I can't think about this. Thank you Jesus that's over!

    ------------------------------
    Update 10.25.13 - Full Review
    ------------------------------

I've finally calmed down enough to actually think about putting together a review for this book without bringing some author out there to tears with what I really want to say about Blind Wolf when I was done reading it. In fact I came on here to write something and when I saw the cover again, I cringed. Now I'm back to square one with my feelings and since I'm already here, I may as well finish the job.

*Warning* I have no verbal tact. I'm hormonal right now... just so you know :)

    Let's get the ball rolling...

So I went through a major paranormal romance phase these last couple of weeks. More to the point - Wolves / Shifters / Alpha Wolves / Wolves finding their mates... ect.

It was the main theme I went for since about October 1st(ish) so that's why you'll see a number of books in this genre in my recent line-up of reviews.

I'm beginning to think that it takes a certain type of person (or rather author) who can put together this kind of genre to absolute perfection. If you've ever read any novels involving wolves / shifters / Alpha wolves and the works... you will know what I mean when I say that the main grip these books have is the claiming or mating with their mate, well first the finding... then the claiming, but you know what I mean. So everything else that happens is bonus material. The main factor I'm looking for is the intense connection, extreme passion, the 'I can't live without you' factor. That's the main pull for me. What either makes or breaks that depends on whether or not the author can pull it together in order to offer us an emotional joy-ride. We already know going into these type of novels that they are going to be together. It's the whole theory of the 'mate' thing. But just putting them together is honestly not at all creative writing.

Now... I'm not saying that in this instance it was insta-love. No. In this case it was all good. I like the pace in which the relationship ran. I liked the meet. That was okay(ish)...

What I COULD NOT STAND was that the author made it seem that only a blind man who was destined by fate could possibly fall in love with ugly, fat, nerdy Julia.

This coming from me... someone who takes absolutely no offense to any situations written as fiction whether it be rape, murder, assault... whatever, I can handle and applaud if done well... It's not a soft spot for me at all...

But what I can not handle (& mind you, I only just discovered it here since it's the first time I ever read this type of character combination) is when an author is trying to break away from the usual stereotype... in this case it's a fat, ugly, nerdy and she's paired with a blind dude...by doing it to such an extreme that it makes it feel so pretentious.

This was the very first time where I went 'oh come on' she could not have chosen the worst character combo's ever.

Julia was the epitome of odd. Everything from A-Z was wrong with her. Her only fan was her granny. She lived a miserable life. She was unattractive. She was fat. She had funny hair... and that's what the author is giving us people. Those are not my opinions. I was told this in the book. I was told she was just so lame that not even the woman who created her (the author) could find one character trait or physical attribute about her that she could compliment or enhance. This poor woman was so torn apart by her creator, I wanted to shed a tear for this sad, sad leading lady. She doesn't even make the cut to be the quirky but freaking bff we usually get. No, this is one of those girls who should probably never leave their house because if they did the villagers would come a running with torches and the works. I honest to God saw kwasimoto in front of me while I read this. It was horrible.

Then... if that isn't bad enough... the only man in the entire world who could possibly love her can only do so because one... he's her mate - he has no choice, and two... he's freaking blind - so he can't see kwasimoto anyway. Oh... I almost forgot to mention that he's also like... a reject or something. I can't remember if he left his old pack or if he was kicked out... but he's suppose to be an alpha male but he only has three members in his pack. One who's life he saved, so she feel in-debted to him. The other two are just good friends. Best of all, he went straight from wanting to mate with the female wolf to pouncing on Julia. This was most definitely some experience I tell you not to mention The worst character pairing in history.

This is my main beef with the book.

Other than that, I was somewhat alright. If I have to remove all the drilling the author forced into me with mentions of her characters lack of anything even remotely positive...

I have no issue with characters who are not considered model chic. But don't try to drill it in me. I get it. And in some cases it's refreshing to read about the ugly duckling getting her black swan... it's what great romances are built on. But if not a single character in the entire book has even an ounce of swoon-worthy in them... then it's just not a romance I'm interested in investing in. We read books to experience the unknown... If I wanted to wallow in self-doubt and have a pity-party, I have a few people I could visit and it wouldn't even cost me the 99c (or R10 in my moola) to get there.

Oh wait... I haven't even gotten to the best part yet... (kiddies close your eyes)... so at the end their very first time together... is... get this... beside a tree about a stone throw away from the poor Julia's nana... it's just wrong!

So Yip. You guessed it, I'm not going to be continuing this series at all. Not even the fib I was told would linger me to do so... What Fib? Well this one where the authors says 'has some naughty language, and a lot of naughty sex. Be warned!' - There's only one sexual encounter in this book and I've already told you it's on the ground beside a tree right at her Nans house. #LordHelpMe.

P.S. The cover is stunning don't you think? But don't be fooled, according to the character description of Julia - that's not her. It might be the she-wolf Damien was originally marrying but it's most definitely not Julia. If I remember correctly she doesn't have blonde hair and that chicky is rather skinny so I'm going with a no.

I read this book as part of the
Shifter Romance Boxed Set. This was a sweet little BBW romance between a shy librarian and a blind WereWolf. It was cute, even if it was a little angsty at times. A merry band of misfits.

I don't mind BBW romances when the heroine owns her body image, but Julia didn't have an ounce of self worth. It was kind of cringe worthy to be honest. Our Big Bad Wolf Damien wasn't much better… he had a lot of self loathing and he wasn't the confident, dominate Alpha male I thought he should have been.

There were a ton of unanswered questions, but I'm not sure this book was really awesome enough to send me out reading the rest of the series.

***I received an ARC of the
Shifter Romance Boxed Set in exchange for an honest review***

    I feel in love.

I just simply couldn't stop reading this book once I got my hands on it!

From the first page I was hooked. We have a curvy lead female, Julia. She is a librarian and sort of down on herself. I see her as someone that doesn't really know her own potential in a world full of unrealistic images of beautiful. I think SHE thinks she's not hot, when she actually really is. I'm partial to this because I'm a red headed curvy freckled woman.

My heart went out to her and I was tearing up nearly straight away with how sad this woman was. I knew she wouldn't be down for long when she runs into hunky Damian. He's not just a good looking blind man, but he's a shifter.

The whole story spins out into an original tale of mates, misfits, and true love and I honestly could really appreciate this story.

You have a group of outcasts, all shunned from their packs and they are trying to survive in a world of violence. It was heart wrenching and sweet all at the same time. I thought it would be pure smut, but it was actually a story so full of heart, and Julia really appreciating herself first, and that struck a cord with me.

The conflict was perfect, the angst level wasn't too high, and I just understood all the characters and I really understood the story that Ms. Rose was trying to tell. I have the next book all ready to go and read! I heart Julia and Damien so hard!

    Wolf shifters....
    description
An instant "TURN-ON"... If anybody's seen True blood or is a fan of PNR. You know what I'm talking about right?
This was a fresh light read for a PNR. Some interesting points to share and a tender not too complicated love-nom pairing between a human and a blind wolf shifter.
Very sweet and one of those reads that there is no need for deep exploration of the mind...
    description
Which doesn't mean its not good. All the contrary, its just simple and short.

Let me tell you the good stuff...
Lots of interesting characters and wolf pack behavior.
A blind hero with a pack full of wolf shifters who were injured and broken looking for a peacefull territory. (So original! SO GOOD)
    description

The hero is the Alpha and I liked him a lot. Truth be told... For a short story, he wasn't just hot but actually interesting Chara.
Dialogues are cute and h/h interaction is actually funny.
    Sweet-HOT-HEA ending!
Heroine BBW librarian with a personality and an adorable grandmother!

    Bad stuff...
    Plot non-existent.
    Loose ends...
Unresolved or unanswered questions. Like lots!
Super speed ending. Still hot, but obviously rushed.

    Things to consider:
    Very little angst.
    SEX
Cannot be considered erotica. Romance yes.
The first book in the series- will possibly read the sequel.
    Recommend? YES.

Personal recommendation: To be read when you don't know what to read. Feeling kind of empty inside and you just want some fuzzy happy in your life.

For some reason I seriously liked this story. A pack of "disabled" and outcast shifters are searching for a new place to settle and start their pack the way it should be. Damien is their leader and with a pack of four, and one female, as Alpha it's his duty to mate with the lone female and start the pack.

While researching his new area, he goes to the library and experiences something he never expected, his calling. The finding of his true mate.

Julia is constantly being teased, made fun of, and is constantly struggling with her weight, her job, and the losing of her grandmother's house. At work she comes into contact with a blind man that just blows her away. Instantly there is lust at first sight.

Damien is blind but that doesn't mean he can't feel everything Julia is feeling, see how feels her emotions. However a problem arises when he realizes she's human, not wolf. He works to avoid her but simply can't stay away. She finds out what he truly is and after some time, working with the pack, and other forces they come together and realize they are made for each other.

Red Hood meets a good Wolf! :D

    hot, shorty, amazing! :D

  • Isabella - SnooRegrets

DNF. Around 10 % so no rating. But I can already tell, this book would drive me batshit crazy and most likely borderline angry.
Checked on another review and am now sure of my decision.

Sometimes you really need that 1/2 Star... It may seem ridiculous and evidently it drives some people nuts, but on my blog I rated Blind Wolf 3 1/2 Stars. *sigh*

This one was interesting, and it had promise… it was just missing…. something. I’m guessing this one falls under the novella syndrome. *sigh*

I liked the characters, I liked the plot and the premise was good too. It seemed kind of rushed moving from point ‘A’ to point ‘B.’ Yeah, definitely the dreaded novella syndrome.

Just because Blind Wolf was short and left me wanting more, doesn’t mean I didn’t like it. It also doesn’t mean I don’t want to check out the rest of the Werewolf BBW Shifter Romance. Things didn’t end in a cliff hanger, but there were some rather loose ends that need to be tightened and a few characters that I’d like to get to know better. Lucky for me, the entire series is available as a 4 Book set.

  • Lauren Seiberling (Romance Novel Giveaways)

I can't believe how quickly I finished this book. Literally, every free moment I had, I was reading it!

Both Julia and Damien had traits that made them self-conscious, but that made them seem more REAL. The chapters also alternate from being told from Julia's point of view to Damien's, which gave each chapter a unique feel. Very cool idea!

I would LOVE to know if another book is coming out in this series, because I would love to know more about what happens with not only Julia and Damien, bu the rest of the characters I met too!

This definitely will not be the last book I read by Aubrey!!!

  • Shelley Chastagner

Really interesting twist on the werewolf pack. They were all a very likable band of misfits. Julia character is intriguing. She's justifiably self conscience but willing to connect with Damien because of his blindness. Damien's character is amazing. Strong, tender, self-sacrificing, loving and devoted to his pack and his mate. It was wonderful seeing Julia become the center of his world.
    Adult read

I finally came back and read the first book. I have to say that I finally understand the second book better after I read this one.

I hate that I read this series out of order but I love both books so I will be happy that I now know the whole story. I hope that there will be more so we can see if anything different happens.

  • Alishea

Other than it being part of a serial, I wasn't wowed or put off to much by anything.

I think serials should come with a warning label. I want the whole story, not bits and pieces. If it is good enough to print, then print all of it! Otherwise, give me a warning so I can wait and get the whole thing, preferably as a single omnibus edition.

  • Carrie Angel

If you are looking for a hot steamy fast romp this is not it. There is a steamy sexy scene but does not over take the book. You see the characters come together and juggle feelings and obstacles that are in their way.

Looking forward to reading the next one.

    Sort but well written!

Damien is a first class D-bag. I didn't like him at all. The human mate wasn't explained and I hate that. There is no way I can suggest to someone to read this.

    On to book 2!

Good start to the series, a little short, I would call it a novella.

  • Christina Lyn

Great job Aubrey!!! I enjoy the story of Julia and Damien so much.

  • Jenae (Jeni)

I loved this book because it centered on the insecurities of both people, instead of just one. I would love to read a sequel to this.

Well, damn. I know this stuff is junk food for the heart but boy does it ever taste good.

    **Contains spoilers** 1 1/2 stars
Damien is the alpha of a misfit pack of wolves, after deciding to settle and finally make a home Damien runs into Julia and knows he hears the calling and that she is the one. Then he touches her and finds out she is human and walks away. Damien tries to convince himself that he was mistaken but then he starts feeling Julia's emotions and it becomes harder and harder to deny. Damien already has a planned mate that he picked though they are not "called" together they both want to start a family, but now with Julia always on Damien's mind he isn't so sure till one of his pack mates reminds him of his duty and Damien decides to leave Julia alone.

Julia is used to only crappy guys wanting her so when she see's Damien she is surprised he seems interested. As she spends more time with Damien she begins to fall in love but life is hard with an older grandmother to help take care of and a home in foreclosure. When she thinks Damien is the one her world is turned upside down when she finds out Damien is really a werewolf and engaged. Now Damien will have to decide if he is willing to stand up for he and Julia, or follow his packs desires.

I'm sorry to say I haven't read a book with a hero that I disliked this much in a long time. I really wanted to like this book it sounded so different but the hero Damien came off as weak and pitiful He wanted the heroine Julia then he didn't, I understand needed to take care of the pack but if thats your fated mate how can you just say oh well and walk away and hello if your the alpha you are the law you are in charge what you say goes.......right?, and the OW seemed liked she wanted him badly and bugs him about mating and STARTING a family makes mean faces at the heroine and causes problems, then BAM she really always wanted another wolf. Damien also lets the other woman tell Julia that he was using her to buy the house and Damien doesn't correct her at all.

Oh did I mention he blatantly lies to the heroine about the other woman and tells Julia she is just his guide when Julia asks if they are together then he is surprised when she gets mad after telling Julia they are engaged but it's just because of their "condition". I don't know if the hero hadn't pushed Julia away and grew some I think I would have liked it more but in the end I just wanted to be done with this book. Also there is so much in this story that is left out and unfinished. Overall really disappointed. This is one of the hardest reviews Sorry if it's so negative but really I held back.

  • Ashley

Julia doesn't have anything going for her life. She's 22, never been to college and lives with her grandmother at their failing bed and breakfast. She has low self-esteem and practically no self-confidence because of how she looks, how she lets others treat her.

Damien is the blind alpha of a band of misfit wolves. As the leader it's his job to find a place for them to settle, to start a new life for the pack. When he finds Julia, he finds more than he bargained for.

Blind Wolf is, okay. It's a rather short novella that doesn't really go anywhere. Julia could be such a likable character if she wasn't written to hate herself. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the way she looks and she needs to realize that. I don't know if the author was trying to put a whole group of women down, but there was no way that Julia's being with Damien was going to bring them up. Yes, he told her she was sexy, and beautiful, but he's blind! Yes, looks don't count for everything but the characters didn't know each other! The whole novella took place over 3-4 days. In those few days they supposedly fell in love with each other, but without delving into themselves. He didn't tell her anything about himself and she didn't tell him about herself. It was all lust and sexual frustration. It just made no sense to me.

And one last thing, that cover, doesn't do the characters any justice. It's very misleading. Julia looks nothing like that. The cover model looks to be thin and blonde. Julia is "a bit on the heavy side" with red hair. The model would match Katherine a lot more.

  • Kelli Jean

Not impressed at all. This story lacked any kind of emotional impact from the characters. In fact, I felt a bit disgusted with the whole thing. As though Damien needed an instinctual "Calling" and blindness to even be attracted to a slightly chunky Julia. Then there's Julia, who seems emotionally immature and completely insecure of herself. Weak supporting characters whose only job seems to be to constantly remind us that she's a little plump. There are too many unanswered questions (seriously, is there going to be another book, or...?) And the ending was way out of left field.

  • Caro

This was good for a freebie. I liked the characters. There seemed like a lot to this but didn't feel like there was much meat to it. There were emotions, a little humor, definite hunkiness, a steamy scene, some good (but short) action, and a good ending. There wasn't much in the 'pack' department and this was more just about the couple, but pretty good overall. More of a passing time, something to read, one-sitter kinda book. I wouldn't mind reading this again but it wouldn't be a go-to book. Enjoy

  • *・༓paige༓・*

That was the quickest book I've ever read. I think I finished it in a hour or so, not even kidding. It was corny, the two main characters literally only met four (FOUR) times. The first one was just Julia helping Damien finding a book and the second was a quick 15 minute coffee break. And the third time Julia proclaimed she loved him and I'm sorry but you have not met him enough times to say you love him! I have a huge dislike towards books that are insta-love , I hate them so much. To be honest it wasn't that bad of a book just overall kind of boring and too fast for my taste

  • Kelly

Blind Wolf is for people who...

    ...like their heroines curvy.
    ...like their heroes damaged.
...enjoy when two very different people can make things work.
...hold out for a happy ending even when it looks hopeless.

YAY!WEREWOLVES! I like broody werewolves. It's a thing. Damien puts his damaged pack first and I can appreciate that. Even when it makes things tough to imagine he and Julia will find a way to come together. Did I mention I like werewolves?
