"It doesn't matter how many women touch this body, only one woman has ever touched this soul."

Ryan Pierce doesn’t come from much, doesn’t ask for much, and doesn’t expect much. And he's come to accept that, until, Alana Remington. Alana is the girl who struck the match that lit his world on fire. She's the girl who opened his eyes to more. Who made him believe that just because you have nothing, doesn't mean you are nothing. And he loves her fiercely for it. But, just because you come together, doesn’t mean you stay together. One fateful decision rips Ryan and Alana apart and neither of them are ever the same again.

For five years he's regretted that decision, but the deep seeded anger, shame and resentment has kept him from reaching out. And over those five years, a series of moments have spun Ryan's world in a direction he never saw coming. A world ruled by endless nights, infinite women and the name Jack the Stripper. A world, unbeknownst to him, that may just let two severed hearts collide.

This is as fine of an example of a hot mess as I’ve ever seen.

This is a prologue novel to Strip Me Bare. I have to say that if you have not yet read Strip Me Bare yet, read this first. I fell in love with Ryan in Strip Me Bare and reading this book gives you his background and it really makes you appreciate him so much more when you read what he went through before and after him and Alana were torn apart. Ryan’s life at home was rough. His twin brother and his mom have drug and alcohol problems and Ryan has had to be the one to take care of them all his life. When his brother’s problems become Ryan’s, his whole life falls apart in the blink of an eye and that includes losing the most important person in his life.

    Cliffhanger...

I didn’t know this will end in a cliffhanger I wouldn’t have touched it with a ten-foot pole. Ryan made terrible decisions, not one. Being a manwhore does not cut it for me. Saying you love someone and you miss them does not mean sleeping around. Constantly. Everyday. Man or woman. End of story.

  • PointedlyBlunt

The story starts out slow, but sweet. Ryan is head over heels for Alana the instant he sees her, and he does everything in his power to keep her. Until he suddenly disappears right after taking her virginity without a reason. A few years later, Ryan and Alana come face to face again at the strip club where Ryan now works.

The book was confusing at times. The timeline often jumped without any notice or tag. There were flashbacks in the middle of a chapter that aren't even italicized, making it difficult to discern them as flashbacks until the scene ends.

None of these characters were my favorite. Alana really needed to grow a backbone. However, at only 18 years old, I get it. She was scared what would happen without her father's financial help, but hiding her boyfriend for so long was a bit much. I realize Ryan was convinced he wasn't good enough for Alana, but if he was so in love with her, why didn't he go after her once he was ? Nah, he'll just become a stripper instead. I prefer heroes that go after what they want no matter the challenge. Ryan didn't do that.

Overall, it was decent, but I'll pass on book 2. Especially because Ryan apparently insists on stripping and who knows what else while with Alana - the love of his life 🙄 - even though it hurts her. No thanks.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Oh My God! Ryan and Alana are perfect together! Well, ok not totally perfect or else we wouldn't have this amazing book! Ryan is from the wrong side of town but he meets Alana. She believes in him and thinks he can be more than what his family has settled for. Alana is is good girl with a emotionally unavailable father. She wants more for herself and Ryan is that more. Circumstances get between them, thanks to a twin that Ryan loves but hates at the same time. He can't bring himself to tell her the truth and decides she's better off without him. He moves on and finds himself in a situation he would have never thought possible.
I fell in love with Ryan when I read Strip Me Bare. I fell even harder with this book. He is a great guy despite a really bad family. He cares more than he should about them but he can't help it. His love for Alana was the only good thing he felt he had going for him. But he had to let that go. He knew she shouldn't wait for him and he didn't want her to, especially with her father being the way that he was. The career that Ryan falls into is not what he expected but what he needed.

I am so damn annoyed. why? because I was semi lost. I read book 2 before this one. but this one was publish after the book 2. And this one was the prologue
would I read book 2 if book one was there first? no I wouldn't because it's a YA story sure by the end a NA but still I wouldn't have read this. So book 2 first made me read this one. but now after reading this one I have to do a quick read of book 2.

Anyway, this book was just bittersweet, all of them understood their heart and life in general. They have to grow up, care for themselves or others. It was a nice beautiful love that stop in the most ugly way. call it fate.

So hot that I can't wait to read the next one!

    M. Never never seizes to amaze me with her writing.

Ryan Pierce aka Jack the Stripper deserved to have his story told. It was beautifully heart breaking. I loved Ryan in Strip Me Bare and it was amazing being able to see his back story and get inside his head. This book made me fall for Ryan and Alana all over again.

  • Blue

Loved it more than the first! The writing has improved, I felt these emotions and got into the story even more. Cannot wait to see what Marissa Carmel comes out with next.

Edit September 30 2016, this book is free today, if you haven't read it, I HIGHLY recommend it!!!

arc review For honest review. This is a awesome story of Ryan he comes from a family that are more about drugs and alcohol. So when he meets alana a rich girl he never feels good enough for her till the day he is torn away from her and feels he not worthy of noone.

Somehow I managed to read this duet backwards. I was hoping it would mean this book was better.

    NO. SUCH. LUCK.

This series should’ve been my jam. It has all my fave tropes and it was still shit :/

Not sure… 3.5-ish⭐️’s — can’t give a proper review at the moment because I think I’ve read this book before I started tracking via Goodreads.

I found him hotter than Channing Tatum in Magic Mike and thoroughly enjoyed Strip Me Bare – now I’m going to learn his story!

I loved him in Strip Me Bare, I couldn’t think I could have loved him more, until I read this story. Reading how amazing he is, how much he sacrificed, how much of a good son and brother he is had made his spot on my heart completely permanent!

I already knew he was dirt poor, and the circumstances surrounding his family, but learning it first hand – it was somehow devastating. I’m glad he met Alana Remington. They may came from different sides of the tracks, but the first time he saw Alana, he was instantly smitten. Oh yes, it was love at first sight. The chemistry was all over the place! The sexual tension was intense and OMG – the long teasing, foreplay was completely worth it when they did it. YAY! The long wait just doubled the steam when they finally make it!

And Alana is such a sweetheart for not being a snob, and not caring about his background. She was someone you can easily love, and you will understand why he easily fell for her. She made him want to live and dream, she made him believe he could be someone more. But one fateful decision broke them apart…

So that’s what happened to him! No wonder he was afraid to reach out to Alana. For years, he had suffered from anger, resentment and shame. A lot had happened that kept him further and further from the girl that changed his life, and suddenly life took him to something he didn’t expect himself to become: him being a stripper. And not just any stripper, but one of the most sought-after in the club…

And the way it ended was just perfect! But I must advise if you have read this first, you NEED to have STRIP ME BARE on your readers!!!!

I knew what happened to Alana and Ryan, I already read the STRIP ME BARE, but it didn’t made me love this book less, because knowing Ryan, knowing how he came about his present, and knowing what went wrong between the supposedly perfect relationship with Alana was just priceless. I missed this hot man! And I was glad to read about him again, can’t help myself but swoon every time. He never gets old! Another great read from Marissa Carmel!

Ryan, before he was Jack the F^cking Stripper – 5 Stars.

Absolutely the best prequel to Strip Me Bare that I could have imagined!

I am so rapt that MNever has written this book. Insanely tense and highly emotional, this is Ryan’s story as he is trying to work his way out of the hell-hole that is his life. With an alcoholic mother and a drug-fuelled identical twin brother using his name to avoid criminal charges, there was no way for him to go but down.

I loved Ryan before, and my heart was breaking for him as he took care of those who continued to abuse and deceive him, as he fell in love with a woman from the right side of the tracks, and as he began to plan for some goals in life. He was optimistic, yet I knew how the book would finish.

Alana Remington was a gorgeous and positive young lady, despite the emotional desert that her upbringing had been. She had all the creature comforts and more, but love wasn’t displayed, and emotions were considered a weakness. Even so, she was perfect for Ryan, not judging him for the background he’d told her about and who still saw the promise in him. She encouraged him to see options for the future that he didn’t know existed.

But then, Ryan’s family, that millstone around his neck, truly de-railed his life.

Ryan’s story consumed my thoughts even when I should’ve been doing real life stuff. I really wanted things to work out for him, but, not so in this book. That ending came in Strip Me Bare, which of course was re-read. I just love this pair of books – and absolutely recommend them as essential reading for those who enjoy hot and sexy books with a great story and a side of humour. 5 Stars.

Stripped from You by Marissa Carmel
    5 out of 5 Stars
This book takes place a little more than 5 years before Strip Me Bare. It is a prequel, and Ms. Carmel suggests that you read this book second. I love that this book is all from Ryan’s point of view. He really is a great guy that we can’t help but love from the very beginning. I found it hard for me to hang in for the whole book because I already knew everything that was going to happen. I think I would’ve had a better experience reading this book first because I got bored knowing what the ending would be. I certainly wasn’t disappointed with the writing or the character development though. I really feel like I know these people and care about what happens to them. Ryan is a wonderful man and really shows his love for Alana. We don’t get to see the depth of her character in this book, but this one isn’t really about her, and she shines in Strip Me Bare. This book was really great at giving us a glimpse into Ryan’s brain, and I really enjoyed the peak. Great job!

This story is told from Ryan's point of view.... he's a good guy in a bad environment, not of his own making. He meets Alana, a good girl from the "other side of the tracks". Her family is rich, Ryan's family is not! However that doesn't matter when they both connect and connect they do. The majority of this story is told on how Ryan and Alana meet and how they become so very close. Until something happens that forces Ryan to leave Alana behind and shames him into believing that she is better off for it. I wanted to throttle Ryan at times, he didn't seem to stand up for himself and while I really connected with Ryan, I can't say the same for Alana. I'm not sure why I had that disconnect but it was there all the same. Either way, the story kept me invested. This is the first part of a 2 part series so for a conclusion, you'll have to read the second book in this series. Can I just say that I listened to this book as an audio and Jacob Morgan as Ryan is just incredible! There were times when his portrayal of Ryan and his heartbreak moved me to tears!

    SURPRISED by this read

This started off very sickly sweet Ryan was head over heals in love from the moment he met Alana she was the one. With his alcoholic mother and Drug addict twin brother Alana was the reason Ryan got up in a morning it was heart warming.

Then Alana was stripped from him and the story grew balls I loved it from this point,

Bam Jck the stripper was born

After years away from Alana Jack the stripper was born to make ends meat not the life he wanted but circumstances make you take what opportunity's arise. Years of longing for his true love never faded but life went on. The sweet talking heart melting guy was changed by lifes events that was out of his control.

Finished with cliffhanger that I plan on following.

  • Kim Richards

I wasn't sure what to expect when I first got this book, but I was pleasantly surprised when I started reading it.
It took me till the end of chapter 1 to get into the story properly, but once I was in, I was in and there was no way I was coming out until I had finished every word that was written.
There are a few surprises in this book, both big an small, some you will see coming and others you won't, but they all help to make the book the awesome read that it is.
The emotions that the characters go through, during the course of the story, can be felt. I laughed, I cried, I got annoyed, I got frustrated, but it got worked out.
I am one of those people that don't like cliff hangers, but in this book the author had to finsih it how they did, so as there is two books for this story I knew to some degree there was going to be some kind of a cliff hanger.
This is a new author for me and I am pleased I decided to get this book as I really enjoyed it.
    I would recommend this book.

It is refreshing when you read a story that is being told by the male POV.

Ryan Pierce hasn't had a good life, with an alcoholic mother and his addict twin brother his life has been rough. We learn how he was able to make it thru whle being away from Alana, and how he became Jack the Stripper.

You will feel the same emotions Ryan is feeling thruout this ordeal. And just imagining Ryan/Jack will make you blush!!!!

This is a lovely story and I will recommend the book. We advice for you to read Strip Me Bare.

  • Vanessa Wallace

Ryan is such a awesome man lost in world of trying to do right by everyone around him. In that process he loses the one person he know would keep him where he wanted to be. Losing her turned his world upside down. Take the journey with Ryan and you will know and love the person buried deep inside himself. Stripped Me Bare is amazing also and you definitely want to read it. Thanks Marissa you did an amazing job. I look forward to what you write next.

  • Jamie Sadler

Absolutely loved this. Ryan's love and tenderness for Alana is amazing. Ryan's is such a strong character given his crappy mother and the responsibility of his brother. I was hooked from page one.

Ryan giving up everything to save his brother at the request of his alcoholic mother was heart breaking.

  • Rhonda Ziglar

5 SEXY RYAN AND ALANA STARS!! Wow, I loved this book and learning the backstory for Ryan and Alana. I read Strip Me Bare first, so seeing their stories play out, gave me more reasons to love them. This book has all the feels and keeps you flipping pages. M. Never always produces fabulous story and this duet is phenomenal. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

3.5 Audiobook review: I liked this audio and will listen to the next one since its a cliff hanger. And the next one is romance package. But this one took quite a while to get going. Narration is fantastic as always from Jacob morgan and brooke b!!!
